A gentleman with a heavy accent, barely can understand what he is saying, wanting to "verify location information(?)".   Probably a debt collector;  this economy has ruined my business.  After 18 years of running my own business, I'm now broke.

They keep calling me, too.  Weird accent saying they want to verify my location information.  When they do call, the caller ID shows The following number:  67848610275230.  Then the person leaving the message wants me to call (877) 779-3475 X5326.

    Verify location?  No way!

I have no idea who they're collecting for.  They don't have any of my current information (I've been married for more than 3 years and they're still using my maiden name) and I've explained that if they would like me to confirm informaiton, they need to tell me what this is in regards to.  I'm about ready to report them.

I'm sure it's a collection agency outsourcing to a foreign country which is why the phone number is strange (and unrecognized by search engines - including the phone company) but as far as I'm concerned, I will not provide any "Location Information" or verify my Social Security number for a company who can't give me any information - they haven't sent any documentation to me either.  I understand that I do not have to verify any information with them if they can't provide me with a document with their company information on it & I told them so.  They're still calling and refusing to give me any information other than that they're looking for "location information" for my maiden name and a very old address of mine.  WTF

Deep (foreign) voice left me a VM at work, saying "verify location information" and the above number with his extension number to call. Yeah right!

There is no trace of call on Caller ID, neither my VM comes on-just ringing, neither my work number is anywhere listed, neither receptionist transferred such call.  So how in the hell he could leave the VM?

If he calls again, will report him, and probably sue him through my brother in law firm. :)

This number has been calling me for months to "verify location information" for someone named Tonya Parrish whom I don't know.  I have called them 3 times to tell them they have the wrong number.  They always say they will take my number off the call list, but then I keep getting calls.  I can barely understand them they all have thick Eastern Indian accents.  When I ask to speak with someone without an accent they refuse to transfer me.  I finally got this address which they had to spell for me so I could understand it to send a certified letter so that next time they call I will have proof that I informed them.  One more call and I am filing a complaint with the North Carolina attorney generals office.

This was a number left as a call back number with extension 5229 on my work VM regarding location verification and a couple of names I could not understand. What I could tell about the names were that one had a shree in it (apparently the caller) and the other ended in resh (the person they were trying to verify a location with.

Our VM system said the call was from 770-612-7070 which I see also has a page on this site. My extension here at work can be called directly but it is not published so they are probably cold calling.

Our General Counsel has said in the past about similar calls, it is not worth the effort to report them to the AG office here.

They asked for one of our employees.  Here too, it was a guy with a very weird accent and he wsa
very hard to understand especially when he told me his name, leaving a phone # and name for this employee to call him back as soon as possible.  I always understood it was agains t the law to call people at their jobs for collection purposes.  The guy wanted to know my name after I took the message.  I told him I wasn't giving him my name but he could be assured I would pass this message along to the employee.  There was no reason for him to need my name.  But he was very courteous.  Just doesn'tneed to be calling here to collect on a debt with one of our guys.
This collection company must have a lot of foreigners calling for them b/c below someone else talked of them leaving a number and extention and the extension this guy left was a few digits off from the other.

    Take power over the harassment
never verify your identity over a telephone.  You have no way of verifying the identity of the caller over the phone.  Never admit to a debt with someone over the phone, fax or email.  Insist on snail mail from the original company you owe.  You never entered into an agreement with a collector.  you would be insane to acknowledge your identity over the phone.  Mail the primary company a letter advising you have no phone or email, no money or income. hang up on them with out answering, no sweat.  if you insist on playing the game with them, as them to verify their identity with you, ask for their social security number date of birth, home address, work address, home phone, and work phone. Also, advise them you call in recorded and advise them you are not permitted to receive a personal or business call at work and you have no home phone or email.  simple as that.  See if they answer.  If they do, advise you will verify their accuracy of their answers with lexis nexis and get back to them after doing so,   You have the power, not them, how bright are they working in that low life position for god sakes, think about it.

Hey Everyone- if you can (like you can with with a cell phone), just SAVE them in your CONTACTS (I put a "Z" if front of name so it is at the end of your contact list out of the way.  Then just set the ring to "NO RING" so you never even know when they call and are never disturbed.  I've got about 100 set in mine LOL!  Most have several diff. numbers so you can out one home, then mobil 1, even fax etc to keep the number of contacts down.
