Received a call stating to call this number.   I was told I had a debt from 2012, that I never paid.  I never had an online loan and told him so.  He said he was a third party company trying to collect old debts.  Has anyone received a call like this.

I received one as well today. I was told I would be taken to court if it wasn't paid and asked for some sort of proof. We have never taken out one of these loans, they said they would email me something and they have t so far. It was weird because a lady called and told me she would serve my husband papers at work and that I needed to call this other number. I asked for the name of the company and there is no website. I'm contacting a friend of mine that is a police officer. The person I spoke with was named John.

    Quick points--
You are not warned if a summons is coming.
Emails, phone calls and faxes are NOT considered official notification.  Get written proof that is mailed to you (do not expect anything but excuses).

Thank You, I did some research and saw that as well. We had our identity stolen a few years ago but O truly believe this is a scam. I'm looking at some similar numbers that pop up and it sounds very similar. I told them I would consult the attorney we used with our identity theft and that I have a friend that is a state policeman and so hopefully they know I will not be taken in my them. I have never had a loan like this. They said this is from 6 or 7 years ago, which we have purchased new cars since then and nothing like this has shown on our credit report.

Did someone call you first and say they were supposed to serve you papers but gave you a number and case number to call first?

Thanks for stating what happen to you.  I also received a called first regarding that they try delivery documents to me, when I started asking questions --Tiffany replied I need to call the Company AFR and was given the 877-786-1422 number to call and reference number.   I talked to a person name John.. I has looked on line for the name of the Company and found nothing. I talked with our Lawyer and was told it sounded like a scam.  I also had by wallet stolen with some of my personal information.  I also believe this a scam, but it sure can wreck a person's day.

I am in Southern Illinois and so it would be rather difficult for her to travel to two places so far apart. I am turning it all over to my lawyer.

Actually yes, if you had had your identity stolen you would as well. It's no laughing matter and sure is a nightmare for those have been through it. Unfortunately, we also live in a world where you hear about a new scam everyday and it's smart to check it out before you go handing people your hard earned money. It's sad that you do have to protect yourself and your livelihood from that type of situation.
