- texas| 2 repliesLeft a message that they we're going to freeze my checking account. Also he knew last 4 digits of ss# and my daughters car info. This debt was in 2008 and charged off. He started talking about the fdic and some returned check to a credit card in 2008, Have no clue, he wouldn't really explain what company he was with, just said I would be served papers. I don't think they can freeze my account without a judgement. He told me to take my money out because it was going to happen at midnight. I guess that's the new scare tactic.

- Yeah Right replies to texasThis number keeps calling a place of business and when we call back to tell them to stop, they get rude and start yelling at us for "hiding" someone but they won't say who they are looking for or where they are calling from! Idiots!!
- michigan| 1 replyCalled me yesterday left a message and told me I had 2 days to call back or they were going start some search and I would have to pay. I did call back and they looked for my phone number and told me it was a mistake and they called the wrong number.

- FIGHTING-BACK replies to texas"...going to freeze my checking account." "I don't think they can freeze my account without a judgement." -- Not sure they can even with a judgement. Usually it's a government agency that freezes accounts. Never heard of a private company having that authority.
Tell next caller you REQUIRE the following:
1-Company's FULL name
2-Physical address
3-Local telephone number
4-website address
AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, for them to send a DEBT VALIDATION LETTER by US MAIL, as REQUIRED by the FDCPA...(since they claim to know so much about you, do NOT give them your address.) -- you might want to hold the phone away from your ear, because the reaction will likely be
1-FAST HANG UP, or
2-IMMEDIATE tirade of cussing you.
By the way, check your state's Statute of Limitations for unsecured debt. It's a good bet that a debt from 2008 is already "time-barred," meaning you can't be sued for it.
"He started talking about the fdic and some returned check to a credit card in 2008." -- Talking about the FDIC is just "silly talk" by this caller. - FIGHTING-BACK| 1 reply
- Colorado| 1 replyI received a call today at work from this same number. I was not there, but they told my co-worker that they were going to freeze my accounts. I really need to know where this call originated so I can contact the Attorney General's office. Please let me know if anyone gets this information.
- Call type: Debt collector
- duck youSame...
They have no authority to freeze anything. They must physically serve you papers for whatever BS they're trying to pull. They've tried the same with me, but I told them, since you know where I live, I'd love to see those "court orders", I'll be here all day. Nobody showed...bummer. I also called my county court to see if there was any legal pending action (like they had claimed) and I was told no. - OHIO replies to michiganI received the same msg. They left a callback number and said to have my S.S. nbr. for "security purpose".

- oneCalled me many times, and you know, I would not so stupid to answer your call and give you some money. F*** idiots.
- saraLeft a message saying they attempted to send me documents and they were returned and that if they dont hear from me they wil seek my employment!
- <( ``)>| 1 replyThey have been calling for a few months now, I got a recorded message asking for proof of employment and saying they were going to call my employer if I didn't respond. The next day they left a voice recording the name they used was tony Willis it was a long message to which of most I couldn't understand what I did get he said they sent me papers that were returned, that I had check fraud and possession ( haven't wrote a check in many years nor had any possession) he also said he was going to flag my car which he listed the last for of my vin and social and that I was not going to be able to cash checks or get money from my account and that they would be showing up at my residence to resolve the matter. When I call back the guy just answers the phone saying hello, no company name, he didn't answer half my questions but did tell me he was after debt from a credit card from best buy, I informed him his company name is not on my credit report for that card and I was already paying a different company for it, he didn't sound surprised it almost sounded like I woke him from a nap, o and I called 3 times the day before from all the numbers they called me from no one answered at 3pm or 6pm....

- melLeft a message that they are sending verification to my employer and is in my best interest for me to have my lawyer contact them. I don't owe any debts so don't know why they are sending me these threats.
- ladywolfThey called today with a recorded message aimed at my son, M. Something about verification of employment, contact his employer, best interest to call them or have lawyer call them-yada yada yada! Listened to the message twice and I couldn't understand the guys name or the name of the company. Got an earlier call, again for my son, from 000-806-5495. This time the caller said if M didn't contact them or show up in court, he would be held in contempt of court. My husband played along for a few minutes, finally the caller said "Well, if you don't give a f---, I don't give a f--- and hung up. Now, I ask you--Is that professional behavior? Interesting thing--I looked up that number on Google and most of the list of web sites were in French!
