Sounds like a debt collector. I got the call too. I am NOT worried. That is not how courts operate. If they're taking you to court, then then would not be contacting you about it.

Originally called with a spoofed number from a nonexistent area code (663). I ignored then blocked it. Next they called from an "unavailable" number. Scumbag hard core illegal debt collectors.

I hope your joking!  1st off courts don't call people! 95% of courts do not even use 800 numbers. These are attics used by bottom feeders trying (illegally and poorly) to try and collect on out dated or debt that legally can't be collected on.  They hope 2 scare people into giving them personal information. And then you're screwed. Any legitimate debt collection companies know all your info. Social.work etc. SD once they get the information from the original creditors. Don't be terrified. And don't give them any info. Let alone. All them back. Just block it and go on.

Just received a call from a blocked ID number and I answered.  Caller told me he was calling regarding a CAREER reference and needed me to sign for some paperwork.  I told him he was a fraud since it was Friday evening on a holiday weekend and no professional CAREER entity would contact anyone in such away.  As I was hanging up, he apologized for using that as the excuse to get my attention, but that he was really just doing his job trying to locate me to serve me a court summons.  That it was my THIRD court summons and without showing up to court, that a judgement would be made without me.  That whomever was suing was trying to serve me for some time and that they couldn't serve me via P.O. Box.

I haven't had a P.O. Box in over 4 years.  (That's a mighty long time for someone trying to serve me)

When I explained to him that, according to state law, if a plaintiff can't be found, the serving entity had to post a notice in a newspaper or other related entity to prove all attempts had been made BEFORE such person could be proven as a no-show to a court case, he admitted he didn't know state law.  I then asked him what city/county the case had been filed in and when, and he stated he had no information.  That he was just a subcontracted person hired to locate me.

I collected all relevant "case number" information knowing that I would be able to "locate it" in city/county files if it indeed was a filed court case.  I asked the gentleman for the name of the company he kept insisted I need to call IMMEDIATELY with the case number information and he didn't know the name of the company that subcontracted him to find me.  wink wink

Got the 1-877 number from him, the G.F.S. acronym associated with the supposed company, and his last urgent message that my case was going to court and that should at least read the summons to exercise my right to respond.

**I have been served in the past, and have participated in helping people get served.  This is not how someone is "served."
    I think it's a debt collector.

I just received a call from a blocked number. Said they had papers to file and wanted to know if I would be home this after noon. Then the lady stated my address which is an address that is about 10 years old! When I told her the address was incorrect she said she was just the messenger service and I would need to call 877-804-3306. I called the 877 number. The gentleman (I use that term lightly) said he had to transfer me to the legal department. I was put on hold and immediately recognized the music on hold. I use the same internet phone company - RingCentral! I knew right away it was a scam. Government agencies do not use an internet based phone system and if they did I am sure they would take off that horrible default music. lol  After being on hold for just a few seconds another gentleman (again lightly) verified my name, date of birth and last four of my social security number. He than began to tell me of a debit I owe to Chase Bank for just over $2,000.00 and then said he usually gets a call after someone has been served not before they are served. He went on to tell me that I am a defendant in a lawsuit and when this goes to court there would be court costs and additional fees of over $2500.00 putting the debt over $5,000.00.  Then he said a settlement letter was sent out last November and wanted to know why I ignored the letter. My response - I did not get a settlement letter because I do not owe Chase Bank anything. I then told him not to call me again, I don't fall for scams and con-artist that easily and I hung up.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THIS. There is no court and/or Sheriffs department that is going to call you and tell you they are getting ready to serve papers on you. Well unless you have a friend or family member who works there and wants to give you a heads-up so you can get the heck out of Dodge!
