This number is somehow connected with the 765-283-3176---coming from Munice , India ,,,,, the person is a female who calls herself thomas ,.....and says she is with Sallie Mae ,, she will  try to get you to give pertinent imformation to verify ...her paperwork ..... she also may call and tell you to call --877-809-8533..........they want ur birthdate or social security number ...or whatever ,,, anyway Sallie Mae would have all that imformation beforehand... so call sallie Mae ... from the letters that were sent to you in the mail.. and you will see ,, they dont have anything to do with this person......

I just received a call from a woman named "Kelly Thomas" at this number (877-809-7533).  This is likely a scam and I would never give anyone who calls you information, you should always hang up and call the company using their published phone number.  But anyways, this number is still active for whatever reason.

just got the call. sallie mae's office is closed. how do we report this person/company? it has obviously been happening for over a year. same numbers are still being used

The company is General Revenue Corp. If you look up their website you will  find they have been in business for 29 years and are a wholly owned subsidiary of SLM Corp, more commonly known as Sallie May.

Do you know who "General Revenue Corp" is?  I have gotten this same message from "Sallie Mae",  to call 201-248-3751 and 877-809-8533

The phone number 765-283-3176 has called me the past two day, left a voice mail saying to call "Kelly from Sallie Mae at 877-809-8533. THIS IS A SCAM! An automated service asked me for my social security number. Don't return calls from these numbers!

Have received 2 calls in the past week from this number from a woman claiming to be someone named Kelly Thomas. I haven't picked up the call; I let it go to voicemail and the person leaves a message asking me to call her back at 877-809-8533, but the number that shows up on my caller ID is 765-283-3176. The woman claims to be with Sallie Mae, but all of my student loans are in order, so there is no reason for her to be calling.

Have been getting the same calls.  Half the time they never say anything, just hang up.  Calling my business phone but never leave a voicemail.  I answered today (caller ID always says Sallie Mae).  Today it was an automated message from Kelly Thomas asking me to call her back at the number 877-809-8533 -- but she didn't repeat her name or number, so if you're not ready with a pen, good luck!  (idiots)

Press zero until you get a customer rep and tell them you're getting calls and don't know why.  Eventually I explained long enough that she gave me a name of the account owner they were looking for and of course it was no one I recognized.

Long story short, she said they would "invalidate" the phone number so I shouldn't be getting anymore calls from them. (fingers crossed)

By the way, it seems that this *IS* a legitimate call from SM.  I gave her the name and apparently that combined with her own caller ID (she had my number w/o me telling her), she looked up the account they were trying to find.

Seems like a fraud to me.  I kept getting this call four days in a row, asking me call back sallie mae at the number provided.  all my loans are in order and i've always paid as agreed.  makes no sense that they would be calling me.  i tried calling back the number this "kelly thomas" provided but it's a short recording and then the call is disconnected.  Don't give out any info!  Go the sallie mae website and get their contact information if you need to talk to Sallie Mae!

Just got the same call... A Kelly Thomas-when I called back asked for the social security number. When tried calling back it answered then hung up. Reporting it to Sallie Mae--its a scam!

Got a call from 765-283-3176 claiming to be Kelly Thomas from Sallie Mae and to call back at 877-809-8533. That number sounds like the Sallie Mae service number, and asks to enter your Social Sec number for validation purposes, then the call is dropped.

Folks, these are people working for Sally Mae. IF you do not feel confident you should not give out your information and call Sally Mae back on the number you know is correct.

I have been getting this same pre-recorded call only the name of the person is Ryan Painter asking me to call Sally Mae at 877-809-8533. I tried calling back and it was silence then the phone was disconnected. Most likely a scam call. Glad I didn't talk to anyone.

This person attempted to call my parents to attempt to retrieve information. I also believe it is a SCAM. Also find it highly suspect that I receive the calls shortly after I file valid paperwork with Sallie Mae, too convenient for me. Sallie needs to get more secure if they are going to spread our information overseas into call centers.

same as others noted, received automated vmail, male's voice w/ this number. i let these calls go to voice mail and assuming sallie mae is the only call center tracking me down, i call sallie mae directly using the published ph # from their statements. i give them my account number, NOT my ssn, a legit sallie mae rep. looks up the account just fine w/ that. i don't trust these call center people, so i record my calls even with a legit sallie mae, too much harassing and mis-information coming down the chute from them, call centers are anybody and everybody working for money & some i'm sure wouldn't mind harassing you, use a 5 finger discount, or run a scam on the side for extra cash.

I have received daily calls from Ryan Painter at 877-809-8533 to call Sallie Mae.  When I call this number I get a disconnect.  I have forwarded this information and these postings to Allbert Lord, CEO of Sallie Mae, Supervisor John Ramsell at Sallie Mae, Muncie, Indiana, Sallie Mae Consumer Advicate at Wilkes-Barre, and the Federal Trade Commission.  It would appear that private data at Sallie Mae is seriously compromised.

I received a call from 877-809-8533. I was asked to give my social security number. He asked if I have a Sallie Mae account. I said yes. He also wanted to know date of birth. I hung up because it looked suspicious.
