- AnnyI just received a new phone number and had a missed call...it was this number. I call it back only to be rudley greated by a A$$hole who would NOT identify himself to me or what company he is calling from. Yet he wants me to give him information of who I am without giving me any information on why he is calling. He then proceeds to tell me I am the person he is looking for and why am I screening my calls. I cursed him out and if he calls again I will do the same. What is this number? What company are they from?
- Not DavidThis number calls and does not identify themselves. Very rude and says they are trying to reach "David." Obviously a fraudulent or unethical organization. The FCC should be investigating.
- Euro| 1 replyCan I block these calls?
Please help - Someone who has been there replies to EuroThis is One Click Cash. They generally call if you have a loan with them, or if you ever have had a loan with them (to solicit you to obtain another one). They will also call if they think you might know someone they are trying to get hold of (spouse, son or daughter for example), to collect on a loan. I have not had them be rude to me, just persistent.
If you ask who they are trying to reach, and it is not you, they may not be able to say much about why they are calling due to debt collection privacy laws. Strange how laws that are presumably intended to protect consumers can end up biting them in the behind. It's a double edged sword sometimes.
I have found it useful to look up the debt collection laws, which are particularly strict in some states like California. Even if you are the one they want to get hold of, you can request that all communication be put in writing only, and they have to stop calling you. That will not stop them from taking any further action if they intend to do so, but it will stop the calls. Depending on the situation, they may then decide to pursue legal action, offer a settlement, or stop pursuing the debt altogether, in which case it might get reported to the IRS as income, which you will then have to pay tax on.
It is annoying and nerve-wracking, but keeping written communication open will at least signal good faith on your part if you are facing a debt you cannot pay. Otherwise they will just think you are ignoring them and they might feel like all they can do is take legal action. Just some thoughts on the situation. Hope it helps. - AnnI have no idea who keeps calling. If it's a real company they would leave a message. People like this can't be real or they leave a message!
