- 4Q2| 9 repliesScammers have been posting fake ads in craigslist claiming to offer jobs for extras (background players) in movies. When you call this number, you are directed to one of two websites that charge for what turn out to be outdated casting lists.
They really just want you to sign up (with your credit card) for $1.99 for one week, then the auto-renew of $39 a month.
Casting360.com and Talent6.com are the same company, and both are a well known advance fee job scam. There are literally hundreds of online complaints and as many Better Business Bureau complaints.
The Los Angeles BBB as well as the National BBB give Casting360 and Talent6 an "F" rating. The LA BBB actually calls Talent6 a scam on the main website.
Casting360 and Talent6 are operated out of Moldova, a small former Soviet republic known today as a haven for credit card and identity theft. Though Talent6 has a small administrative office in the US to comply with US incorporation rules, 100% of the operation is in Moldova, including the "Casting Agent" you spoke with.
In May 2010, Talent6 aka Casting360 was fined by the San Mateo, CA District Attorney $45,000 for false advertising, misleading ads and fraud.

- heywood jablomy replies to brandiHave you suffered recent cranial trauma, or have you always been stupid?
- BethAny time you see a casting call like this one on CL be careful. I called one years ago, and when I met with the so called "agency" they were trying to talk me into marrying someone so they could get their green card!!! Yikes!!
- SamYou can add 800-605-6021 to your list. Found via Craigslist Ann Arbor, MI. As SOON as the operator (with a heavy Indian accent) mentioned a "lifetime membership for $" I said Thanks but No Thanks and hung up. I knew the next question was going to be "what is your credit card number".
- Maximus replies to brandiNo "brandi", no you have not.
- Josh replies to brandiNo you haven't. Troll.
- BenThanks for posting this! I was about ready to call as I am in financial debt but having been scammed before and knowing that there are many scams out there, I decided to research it. After reading this post and all the comments, I decided not to call. No job or employment in the movie biz should require a monthly membership!! NO WAY!!! Brandi probably works for them and is behind these scams otherwise she wouldn't have posted her comment on here. Thanks again for this post!!!
- luis replies to 4Q2| 1 replythanks for the info. when I heard they needed my credit card I hang up on them. Im glad you guys confirmed it's just a scam. Gracias :)
- Tatyana replies to luisI just called and after giving my information it asked for my credit card information I told them I didn't feel comfortable and before I could even finish my sentence she was like BYE !
- Philly J| 4 repliesI have acted for 8 years, I am a SAG member, have worked at a Casting Agency for 2 years & currently have worked in Film, TV & Commercial Production for the last 11 years.
1. This is a scam.
2. You should never have to pay a Casting Agency money. Casting Agencies are not the same as Casting Agents. Casting Agents represent individuals & they get a %20 cut of your pay because they submit you to castings & try to get you auditions. Casting Agencies represent hundreds, if not thousands of actors. They have an online database now where then can type in any traits the casting requires & people w/ those traits come up in their search. Good casting agencies remember good actors & will generally throw them into most audition lists that they fit. To get on file Casting Agencies have a general open call & if you are pretty decent they will add you to their files so that you come up in the search. The agency emails a list of actors w/ photos & resumes to the client. The client may say do you have anyone else or add women with braces to the list for ex. They finalize the list, the Casting Agency sets up auditions & either records the auditions & sends it to the client or the client is there during the auditions.
3. Casting Agencies do not get any cut of your money. They get %20 of your pay from the client. Say as a background actor you are getting paid $200.00. You will get paid $200.00 & the Casting Agency will get paid $40.00 for representing you.
4. Read their posts. You can tell they are not American. They do not even know how to put together proper sentences. I am not going to give ex. because these scam artists may change their postings as a result.
5. Whoever said they got work from these people is lying.
6. Final comment: if you fall for this scam you deserve to be scammed. You obviously do not do your homework. I know actors are desperate at times & can be easily tricked because I have been around actors for a long time but please do me a favor & report these fraud scam artists.
They change their numbers all the time. Why? Think about it.- Caller: 877-827-6801 on Craigslist
- heywood jablomy replies to Philly J| 2 repliesThank you for that post! Yes, these scammers are certainly not American; they are based in Moldova (ex-USSR).
- Chris replies to heywood jablomy| 1 replyWe Americans need to do something about it soon and make the FCC stop this. Because these abusive losers just don't care anymore. ISIS needs to chop their heads off.
- WolfmanJack replies to ChrisBut what if it is ISIS doing the calling?
- AnneI didn't get a call from 877-827-6801, but I found their casting ad on Craig's List and decided to research it. They also have another ad giving 855-825-6803. Both purport to cast extras. Not surprised to see that it's a scam.
