34416 - Bear replies to Jeff in MD| 3 repliesJeff - got the same notice in the mail today with the same number on it. We are also in Maryland. I'm guessing it's a scam but I wish I knew how they got my name. I'm not signed up for very many things with my married name.
- Tom - Montgomery County, MD replies to BearGot the same mailer here in Bethesda. I know this is a scam but if I'm in the right mood, I will sometimes have fun with these people so I called the number from my landline (a number we no longer use except for service people, or to put on forms when signing-up for things).
Remember, calling a toll-free number will not block your caller id from displaying to the other party's phone since they are paying for the call. Anyway, the foreign sales rep who answered, transferred me to another, more American sounding person (Anne) who congratulated me for calling. "Gee, thanks I said but why am I being congratulated?" The response was - due to my "first step" in earning the valuable prizes. "Anne", maundered on and on and indicated that I would have to sit through a time-share presentation but was unable to provide me the time, location, date or any other helpful advice as to when my "meeting" would take place.
She also informed me that I would be responsible for the shipping and handling charges for my new, promised FREE tablet but when I asked how much that would be, she said she would have to ask her supervisor. I said I wanted to speak with the supervisor but was told that would not be possible and, no further explanation was forthcoming.
Told Anne, this all seemed reasonable and fair and couldn't wait to sign-up! She took me seriously!!!
Wanted my name, address, phone number (and cell number), date of birth and social. I gave every bit of information to her! Made it all up on the spot but she accepted it nonetheless!
Asked what the next step would be and was told to expect a phone call shortly which would explain everything in further detail.
Its 2-days later and still no phone call !! I'm starting to get worried about the status of my free tablet with android whatchamacallits but they have yet to contact me. Beginning to wonder if Anne has led me astray?
Hello? Anne? are you out there?
Somehow, I have a sinking feeling I will be going Microcenter or Best Buy if I ever stand a prayer of owing a new Android Tablet - but the days' not over, perhaps Anne will contact me one day soon! - John AAronsGot the same... VA
There is nothing for nothing...
John AArons - karenhave been gone for a month so not sure when this opportunity actually arrived. nothing is ever free, so i googled the phone number and got this site. hello, shredder...
i'm in MD. - karen| 1 replygot this opportunity as well, though have been out of town for a month so not sure when it actually arrived--bulk mail w/no cancellation. nothing is ever free. i googled the phone number and got this site. hello, shredder..
- karen replies to kareni'm in maryland
- AlexMine arrived in the mail today 9/19. I'm also in Bethesda. The android logo is a trademark of Lucasfilm and yet it's plastered all over the envelope and inside. I wonder how they'd feel that their property is being used to scam people. lol Sadly I'm too lazy to find out. Plus I accidentally dropped mine into the shredder and didn't want to lose a hand trying to get it out. It would have been awfully hard to use and hold my Android tablet with only one anyway.
PS: They are not members of the BBB and they recieved a grade of F from them. Who else here is shocked! lol
http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florida/busines ... ach-fl-90033274 - IsaI got the same offer in the mail today. I live in MA. I don't know how they got my address. Maybe because I signed up for a bunch of things online this month but they were not supposed to give my address out to third parties. Did you know Godiva gives you a free piece of chocolate every month when you sign up for their rewards program?! I couldn't resist. Also Uno's gives you a free appetizer.
But NO ONE gives you a free Android! Even though that would be really sweet and I totally deserve one :) - JamesReceieved similar today:
"Our Promotional Department shows that you have been awarded a New E-Pad Touchpad Tablet complete with Android software OR a New Laptop/Netbook Computer compete with Microsoft software!"

- john| 3 repliesGot it in Philadelphia today.
1-800-498-4990.
Almost thought about calling cause i do want a tablet lol - John KinneyI had this apparent scam come in the mail today. Icalled the number and immeditaely ask for your zip code. Probably to look up the city name. The person did not know the name of his company. He had to put his supervisor on the phone.
I asked alot of questions, they were not happy. Tried to counter offer me a "round trip" vacation to make me happy. I of course refused. He indicated that they take calls for many clients. They don't like to give their name out. I would highly suggest not calling.
On top of that it is probably a junk computer with very little RAM, I found this online at AMAZON.
This review is from: Android 10" ePad Tablet PC, Android 2.2 OS, 1.0GHZ Processor, 512MB RAM DDRII, Camera, USB, WiFi, Plus Keyboard Travel Case (Electronics)
this is the epad scam one but for the price its more than worth it. it isnt true 1ghz processor and it only has 368mb ram. the processor is "overclocked" to reach 986mhz. its not truly over clocked they manipulated the benchmarker to read higher. but all that aside i love this little thing it is surprisingly fast. the android market is awesome and very easy to use webpage navigation is pretty simple.. biggest downside NO built in GPS or Bluetooth modules.

- ellen replies to Jeff in MD| 5 repliesI received the same offer but the phone number was 1-800-462-5386
- Ray replies to john| 2 repliesGot mine today in Cherry Hill, NJ. I am thrilled because I've done absolutely NOTHING to deserve such a wonderful, wonderful prize. I can't believe I can even choose between an e pad and a brand new computer. I'm sure both are quite expensive because why else would they give me something cheap. They must be a great company, even though I'm not really sure what company they are because it says nothing in their mailer. Oh well, I'm sure they are reputable. As soon as I get done picking my nose, I'm calling for my FREE COMPUTER. I can't wait until it gets here. I think I will go outside now and start waiting for it to come.
Congratulations to all other "winners" like me. Aren't we the luckiest people in the world!!!!!!!!!!! - John Lee| 1 replyReceived the same snail mail today, except the phone number is: 1-800-460-9477 and the secondary prize is a Polaroid digital camera.
- J Arp| 1 replyGot one today in Idaho. Phone number was 1-800-463-8418. Bonus prize is Polaroid digital camera. Wish I knew how they got my name and address....
- Daneil replies to J ArpGot mine today also, in Washington. Same phone number, same bonus prize. They seem to be moving slowly westward...
