- Garrett| 1 replyI was told that I needed to contact GEICO, my auto insurance company, to discuss a policy. When I returned the phone call to the listed number, there was an automated message that stated that I had successfully deactivated my Touchstar service feature.
- Caller: GEICO
- Felix"Jenifer" left a message with a member (age 16) of the household asked that I return a call to 877-854-5760. I believe that they asked for me by name, but the 16 year old is not a detail guy. All I have is the name Jenifer and the 877 number
- Underwriter| 5 repliesI used to be an underwriter with GEICO (left for a higher paying job at another company), and this is the number to my former department. Things to remember when you get left this number:
1) They are calling you to collect or provide important information about your policy. CALL THEM BACK or your policy could cancel or have a surcharge applied to it. It's a part of the process to perform due diligence and send emails and letters along with the calls, but don't mess around on this stuff. Just call back.
2) This is a toll free national number and your call is routed by your area code, so if you're calling from a phone that originated outside your current state BE PATIENT and let them transfer you to the right people.
3) If you don't have your policy number just make sure you have your name and phone number that's most likely to be on your account. They can look you up that way.
4) If the account in question is not in your name they will not speak with you unless they have been given DOCUMENTED EXPRESS PERMISSION by the NAMED INSURED. This means they don't care if you set it up online, or if you make the payments, or if you're a driver on the policy, or if you own the car, or they spoke with you last time. No note, no talk. DON'T ARGUE, DON'T BLATHER ABOUT HOW RIDICULOUS IT IS. IT IS FOR THE INSURED'S PROTECTION. Just get the owner of the policy to call, write or e-mail them to give your name and permission to discuss and/or make changes with you. They will also need to provide your date of birth so they can identify you when you call in.
I hope that can help some people avoid getting cancelled, and help my old colleagues avoid some stupid arguments.- Caller: GEICO
- James, Attorney at Law replies to Underwriter| 3 repliesThis person's note is part of the scam. GEICO does not contact its insureds this way. Do NOT call that number. GEICO will NOT cancel your policy without a written notice. That is law in almost every state. Be VERY careful of 877 numbers.
- Previous GEICO Employee replies to James, Attorney at LawJames, the attorney is correct, however, if we do not receive information we will take adverse action on a policy for failure to provide underwriting information. To avoid the hassle of making sure you don't receive the written notice of non-renewal or cancellation of your policy, it is strongly recommended to always call back. The attorney above is an attorney. Enough said.
This is a valid number for GEICO. - David SchaefferI was told to call this number and instead called the official Geico number where they verified that this number is for them.
I have had this happen now with both my Chase credit card and Geico, where they tell me to call a number that is not officially listed as being them. It is strange to me that large businesses would do this.- Caller: Geico
- humbleconsumer replies to James, Attorney at LawI had geico insurance and my policy cancelled the same day as the accident I was unaware of the cancellation, and the underwriting department is reviewing it. what are my opinions
- MaryThis is GEICO. I called the number on my insurance card and they confirmed it is GEICO's underwriting department.
- Caller: GEICO
- DanaThis is actually a number associated with Geico. I called their main number (not this number) to confirm and they did confirm it was their underwriting number. They were just asking about my recent request online to add a second insured driver. No scam here.
- Caller: Geico
- John replies to James, Attorney at LawI got an email to call that number, not from geico.com but geicomail.com. However, it did have my correct name and policy number. I was suspicious and called the number on my insurance card instead. They confirmed that it was a legitimate question they had - they realized that someone else was registered at the same address as me and needed to confirm I'm the only driver. I wish their email had the geico domain name and they'd limit the amount of numbers used, to make it harder for scammers and avoid these problems.
- NCalled the number and they said because they were having "technical" difficulties and computer were down that we were untitled to. $100.00 gift card...but had to pay $4.95 to activate it.
I hung up. - Dee replies to GarrettThis is definitely Geico. I received an email from geicomail.com asking me to call this number. Got connected to Geico's main line and then to a local customer service agent, to update important information on my car insurance.
- Vanessa| 1 replyI called the main Geico number, and this was indeed GEICO underwriting department.
- CWG40 replies to VanessaIt's most likely some sort of fishing scam and you're part of it. Why would you post here if you were convinced it was a valid call? Most people post here if they have been scammed or been the victims of an attempted scam. So why are you posting here if everything is just fine? You just sought out an anti-scamming site out of the goodness of your heart? Sorry, it doesn't wash.
- Jennifer| 1 replyReceived an email from GEICO to call this # to "We need to speak with you about an issuing regarding your GEICO policy" I called the GEICO # online instead. They did send email. Underwriting was calling to verify details of an accident they discovered on my daughter's MVR. Legit.
- Caller: GEICO
- Call type: Valid
- Actually.. replies to JenniferSome have posted that it was not GEICO - you should be aware that even if the number is "legit" for you, it may not be for others. Scammers routinely spoof legitimate numbers.
- Allan replies to UnderwriterThis response looks to be a scam
- AlGeico underwriters. Had alot of customizations.on my vehicle and needed to be comfirmes.
- Caller: Geico
- Call type: Valid
- JohnFake! Beware the scammer is faking comments here. I was suspicious and called GEICO’s normal number, they said there is nothing wrong with my account and no reason for me to call and to watch out for scammers. She looked up the number and doesn’t recognize it. She said they would never vaguely email like that! Also she said that scammers can now fake email address’s and to be careful.

- JenniferHello, the number 877-854-5760 called and left a voicemail stating it was Geico but with no information as to why a call. I called back and someone picked up saying it was Geico, asking for my information such as phone number and policy. However, it was no where near professional and I was very hesitant to give any information. I quickly ended the call. I called the Geico Main Line - 1 (800) 207-7847 and they mentioned they had called me. So the number, although it sounded fishy and scamy, it was correct.
