Continuous calling and messages without leaving much information other than requesting call back prior to 5 pm.  Have received computer messages and human messages (all have thick accents and are difficult to understand).  On the machine they do not even ask for someone specific...just leave the message.

Got message from a guy claiming to be Antonio Martins, with a difficult to understand accent, about an urgent personal matter, on machine on Jan 17 2008 at 2:23PM, leaving number and extension number, and reference number.  Returned call to them on January 17, and they claim computers are down and they will call me back.  They would not say who they are, because of privacy laws.  That's a big clue that this is a telemarketer.

Got call saying they needed to talk to me about an important matter and that I needed to call them back today.  I called them backed and left a message saying they were probably calling the wrong number.  Could not talk to a live person, there was an option for assistance but no one answered.

I got a recorded message to call them today, before the end of the day.  Called 1-877-857-9755, and the company name is Admirability Wash, according to their voice mail.  It is a telemarketer of course.  I left them a message and said to take me off the marketing call list. I also filed a telemarker complaint with the FCC. I do not understand why anyone would think this is a credit company!

    good luck!
message asking for my ex of 9 years ago who never shared this phone number and has different last name. Caller left number, phone extension and reference number to call by 9pm. Message says his name is "Dave Grody calling about a very important personal business matter that requires your immediate attention and... this is neither a sales nor telemarketing call but is extremely time sensitive."
I called and asked that they identify themselves. They said they are a credit reporting agency. I hung up. Just curious to know who would want to find the jerk.

Called and got ahold of "the only person here right now" and had to presure her to state the her company is CCA.  She would not state what company they were representing for the phone calls to my daughter, but said that they "represent many different clients and are not a telemarketer."  I'm pretty sure they are a collection agency.  At my request she emoved m mothers and my phone numbers from their database - if I get any more calls from them I'll report them.

Just searched the internet - they are CCA - Collection Copany of America http://www.collecto.com/

I also received one of these "urgent business matter" calls, but did not respond. Never respond to calls such as these. Apparently, being on the Do Not Call List does not stop them. If enough complaints are registered, maybe some agency will act to put an end to their activities.

It's a bill collector that AT&T uses to collect past due accounts.  I got a new number when I moved to California, and apparently they closed my Virginia account, and opened a new one rather than keeping one account.  I didn't know that.  So, I had a past due balance on my Virginia number, and they sent it to collections.
    Good job, AT&T!

Had a message on my answering machine asking my son to call before 5pm. My son lives 1000 miles from here. I called the number and asked the receptionist what the company does. She says "We have over 400 divisions" I asked her what division the extension number I had been given was in and she put me through to someone who spoke broken English. I asked what the call was about and the reply was "Where's your son?" I replied "In his car" The man replied give me his number. I asked what the call was in reference to. The man said I can't tell you. I hung up.

    I FINALLY HAVE ANSWERS!!!!

Ok folks.  I've been researching this ALL DAY.  Here's my story. First, let me say that we have NO outstanding bills.  I have been getting the automated calls, (for MONTHS) to call back at this #.  "Time-sensitive matter...blah blah." Well, the name is not mine.  The account is not mine. Same first name, same town but NOT ME!

I have spoken to an actual person 4 times, telling them I am not the person they are looking for, nor do I know her.  They always say they will take me off the list, and are VERY rude, and tight lipped about any information I ask for.  But they Keep Calling!!!  After gathering as much info as I could (from the automated calls telling me reference #'s) I decide the next time they call, I'm going to straighten it out for good. Sure enough, they call back, (they always do...) and I call the darned # and give them the "reference #" they left. I ask the lady who she works for.  "CCA."  I ask what that stands for.  "Nothing," she says. (!!!)  She won't tell me.  I ask her name, won't tell me.  She ends up hanging up on me.  This morning I call AT&T a second time.  I tell them "CCA" has been hounding me  for an outstanding balance that is not mine.  I had called to find out if CCA was a scam (one call wouldn't give me a person, it just asked for my CREDIT CARD #!!!) No, AT&T uses them for collections, they are not a scam, and they are called "Collection Company of America." From googling "CCA collections" and clicking on the "Who's calling me" sites, I realize there is a TON of this going on.  From MANY different 800/877 numbers.  And they are pissing me off.  After digging (really deep, they are hard to find...) here is their website.

    http://www.collectioncompanyofamerica.com/CCA_About_Us.aspx

With a page on their "telecommunications" work and the name and email of the VP of National Client Development.

    http://www.collectioncompanyofamerica.com/Telecom.html

    A quote from their website:

"It's not just collecting debt; it's collecting in a manner that best represents our clients while achieving superior performance levels."
    Candice O'Brien, VP of Operations

I am going to write a letter to their CEO, and anyone else who will listen, AND I am going to file a complaint with AT&T.   I have been a loyal customer for too long to have them outsource someone to harass me for a debt that isn't mine, and be yelled at, not responded to, and hung up on.  I hope you guys do, too.
