Just called the number back, Verizon, and was put through to customer service and a rep picked up immediatly. She said it was probably a promotional offer but would need my account info to make sure. I didnt give it to her. I know my bill is current and I dont need a new phone/upgraded plan/ identity theft, lol.

Just got a call from this number at 8:39 PM on Wednesday, December 8.

All the caller ID said, other than the number, was TOLL FREE CALL
and I never pick up toll free calls.

Interesting that it's evidently from Verizon.

We do have Verizon, but our account is paid in full each month
and our contract runs through the end of June 2011.
Must be a special offer or something.

    Unsolicited offers? No thanks!

I get these calls too, and am on the DO NOT CALL registry.  Unfortunately, there is nothing they will/can do to the company if it is one with which you do business.  In other words, since I have a contract for my CURRENT phone with them, I can't stop them from calling and pushing upgrades on me!

Correction----this is not ACTUALLY Verizon---it's Infocision that has been given our numbers by Verizon for promotional purposes.  Once she had as much info as I was willing to give her, she confirmed that it IS promotions, but the system was unable to tell me what the promo offer was!   She swears that legal allows them to call, but I've asked my number to be taken out of their system or be reported!  We'll see if it works!

Computer Call system.....asked for another person...... Verizon Wireless, trying to sell or aggravate someone........

My number is on the .....DO NOT CALL LIST, which has turned out to be useless, 5-6 calls a month received.........

We all should get together......and call them and keep their lines tied up.........for a change.  Run the BUMS out of business.

Was a man claiming to be from Verizon. He knew my name, number, what type of phone I own and what type of plan I have without me divulging any information to him other than confirming my name when I answered my phone. He said he was just calling to thank me for being a customer and wanted to see if I was interested in buying a tablet. I told him know and that was all. He was nice and not pushy, but was still a strange call.

Oh and to the comment from the guy who said that paying your bills is a luxury... Um.. no, it is not. It is mandatory. If you can't pay your phone bill, then cancel it. By not paying your bill, you are STEALING! And yes, it IS that simple. You wouldn't tolerate it if you provided a service to someone and they didn't pay you for it, and I am certain you wouldn't be happy if that person got angry with you for wanting to get paid for a service that you already provided them with. I know everyone falls on hard times at some point, but lashing out at people who don't sign up for something they can't afford is just childish. Grow up.

Google Voice transcribed her message (and I edited since it isn't perfect):
"Hello. This is Alicia Grimes calling on behalf of Verizon Wireless and I can call back another time. If you have any questions in the meantime, give me a call at my toll free number (877) 861-4963. Thank you."
So, "on behalf of" means not Verizon....BLOCKed

I got a call from this number everyday for 2 weeks.. I finally called back.  It indeed was Verizon.  They wanted to see what they could do to better my plan.  "Would you like to add additional data on your plan for 10.00 a month?"  I see if you an upgrade, we can send a new phone out to you today!"  blah blah..

Verizon telling me that i can safely downgrade my data because I had consistently used a third of the data I was paying for. Saved me 10 bucks.

    Finally Called Back
I finally called back this number that had been calling my phone relentessly for a couple weeks now.  It was indeed Verizon wireless.  She asked for my cell# and then pulled up my account.  After looking at my account, she asked if I wanted to add another family member and I said NO.  Then she asked if I needed a tablet and I said NO.  I asked her to remove from the call list and she said she did and that it could take up to 30 days.

This is Verizon. We talked to them on our home line. They were able to tell us information about our plan (and decided it was working for us). Then they asked if we wanted to upgrade our phones, add a line or a tablet. We declined. I asked how long the promotion was going and they said the same promotion was NOT available online at the Verizon Wireless site. This made me think they were working separately from Verizon. May be a scam that has tapped into the Wireless Network accounts or worse yet, working off a list sold to them by Verizon. Anyway they are not debt collectors. If it is Verizon, why doesn't it say so on the caller id instead of 800 Service or Anonymous?
