I Received A Call From This Number, Identifying Themselves To be, First National Verification Services Fraud Unit. They Stated That I Have Been A Victim Of Identity Theft (In Another State). I Am Not Sure If They Are Legit Or Not, But I Am Following Along To See If This Is True Or not. Is There Anyone Out There That Has Received A Call From These People As Well? And Were They Legit Or Were They A scam?

Total scam.  Don't give any personal or financial information to anyone over the phone.  Period.

Looks like a spoofed number - a quick Google search only shows a BusinessBroker ad for someone wanting vending machines.  There is also no listing - that I can find - for a First National Verification Services Fraud Unit.  I'm leaning strongly towards "scam" here.

You can check for yourself if you're the victim of ID theft - you can contact at least one of the three credit bureaus - Equifax, Experian or TransUnion.

Yeah, I Tried Looking For Any Information On Them Online And Nothing Shows Up. It Is Strange Because They Instructed Me To Call Experian And Request Fraud Alert On My "Accounts" And The Number They Gave For Experian Is The Same Number In The Experian Website.

I wouldn't give your caller any information, but please do check with the credit bureaus.

Guys, I think they are legit.  I contacted the authorities, who contacted the company and verified they are for real.

I received a telephone call from First National Verification Services and its Fraud Division.   They encouraged me to contact my local authorities and I did.   Found out the company is legit.  

They never asked for my social security number or my bank account numbers.   They just simply wanted to get the information to me so that I can take steps to prevent future identity theft, as well as take care of any other identity theft issues I may have that is not relating to this incident.  

I am thankful to this company.

If they are legit, then....
- WHY does a simple web search not show the name of their business?
- WHY can't I do a reverse lookup on the number?

Credible businesses do 2 things, they are listed in online directories (or have web sites) and they use published phone numbers.

If this business is not credible, then it seems we have a SHILL posting here. Nice try, losers.

That was a quick response RDC.   I asked the same questions and I am told they do not work for the public and work directly for the insurance company for the financial institution being defrauded.  

If you are unsure RDC, call your local authorities and they can find out for you.  

I only gave you my input and my experience with them.

Oh yes, and you've just happened to forget their web site and other identifying information, right? Pull the other one, shill.

What do you mean by "the authorities"? Who *exactly* did you contact? I expect it was the crooks behind these phone calls.

All together Gang: Rule #01- NEVER give out personal, or financial information, on a phone call you did not make. From a number you verified as correct from a paper statement, phone book, or (for credit card) back of card. NEVER call back a phone number given to you in a fax, text, or email until you check it out. Caller ID? What would you like a computer & a few dollars in software to make it say? Anything a criminal wants. Please ignore the 'he said - she said' battles that happen regularly on 800 notes - check it your self.

TWO wonderful comments posted in less than one hour's time ---  and on a site that posts COMPLAINTS!!!  Gee - wonder how they found this site??!!?? (sarcasm noted).

Well then, you can give us the company info, mailing address, website - right?  No?  Thought so.

You know, "Laura", I'm a regular user of Yelp.com and as such I often post favorable reviews of great businesses. But I always make sure to specifically identify the business in question – name and address and web site. There's little point in posting a recommendation, otherwise. So why would you go out of your way to praise a business and not make it easy for everyone to identify and locate them? I can suggest a possible reason: They're criminals and you work for them and if you post details here it would help law enforcement officials (*real* law enforcement officials, rather than the fictitious "local authorities" you cite) to find and arrest you.

How close did I come?

Sir, I work in the real estate industry and I am only suggesting that you contact your local authorities and find out for yourself if the company is legit or not.   Have you done that?

Not fair to any business and/or the victims of identity theft when individuals post something on a social media website, not knowing what it is like to be a victim of identity theft, then taking it a bit further in contacting my local police department to make sure I am dealing with a legit company, who also had a conversation with the company while I was on the phone.  

This is the reason I do not like posting anything on these group websites because I do not have time to get into debates.   Don't have the time for it and again I am grateful to First National Verification Service.

The reason I checked out the company with the local authorities was because of the negative comments on this site.   I saw that no one else has posted anything on this site, indicating they have contacted their local authorities to determine if the company is legit.   So I provided our findings and I get my head ripped off and called a criminal.

Gee, funny how I cannot find "First National Verification Service" anywhere.  Doesn't inspire confidence that they're "legitimate"!  I doubt very much that your local police department actually talked to them.  If they are legitimate, as you say - you will have no problem posting the company name, mailing/physical address and website, if any!
