phone # is related to the solicitor who said she was with the national breast cancer society. I googled the address PMB 283-gift processing,3971 Hoover rd, Grove City, ohio 43123-2839 and got comments made by other people that this address was a scam but the phone# on their donation form started with 866

I received a call from the breast cancer society pressing me to make a donation. I said I did not know what I could give at the moment but I would see what I could do. I didn't get a letter from them but did receive another call from the breast cancer socety wanting to know where the money I promised was. DING DING DINGI  Anyhow, I hung up and about a week later, I got a letter stating I promised $10 to this "non-profit" charity. The number that called was different from the number on the paper I got in the mail. Well, after some research, they will get nothing from me. Scam central. Apparently, they are not affiliated with any National, Regional, or Geographic organizations. Hang up on this one.

My story is identical to yours. The last call I received was yesterday and I told the person on line that I would not be sending them a $10 check and questioned their existence. I became suspicious with their calls for such a small pledge.

I donate to many charities, but only a small amount. When I spoke to this lady all sounded legit and unfortunately, I made a donation over the phone. Yeah...I know...dumb, huh!
I talked to her for quite a while.  I told her that her number showed up as 'private caller' and that this would make donors feel uneasy.  She stayed on the line with me as I told her about my concerns including the way she was answering my questions with brief responses like 'yes' and 'no" . Her explanations then got a little longer. As I continued to talk to her I was beginning to feel very uneasy. I asked her for a number to call her back to verify and this is the number she gave me.  I have tried calling this number back and it is the voice of the lady I spoke to, but you can only leave a message.
Feeling even more uneasy, I called my bank and told them about the incident and they cancelled my debit card and will be sending me a new one soon.  Because of my ignorance, I am without a debit card for several days....

    Me 2!
I also got a phone call from them. Nice lady.
I said I won't donate by phone since don't really know them. Asked if can send something in the mail or if I can go online and donate to their organization.
Got a letter in the mail.
Doesn't seem legitimate, the quality of the paper, the printing everything indicates a scam. (It's even printed there "You're a Sweetheart. Amanda").
Called their number in the letter "For Processing Questions" 1-877-881-1358, got a recorded message, leave your #. Very weird, the REAL society? Got to talk to a rep, even on Sunday morning.

I googled the address I was supposed to mail it to (just keyed in "3971 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH 43123") from:
    The Breast Cancer Society
    PMB 283-Gift Processing
3971 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH 43123

The result of the search? Some complaints about scam, UPS store and so, but no mention of the Cancer Society.
Googled just "3934 Miller Road Edgemont, PA 19073".
Guess what? On the spot, the first result: The Breast Cancer Society (the REAL one)... :-)))

My mother, got the same call, several in fact. One from a female a couple weeks ago, then one today from a man, on a Sunday? Hounding her about a $10 donation, that she does not remember pledging.
I found it suspicious, and researched the # and address.....I found the same as many of you. SCAM!!!

The REAL # for the Breast Cancer Society is: 1-888-470-7909. They are based out of 3934 Miller Road Edgemont, PA 19073.  I will be calling the Federal Trade Commission, and the Grove City Police Department.

    Scam.

Got a call from 925-271-2244. Caller ID said "Breast Cancer Society." (main number was 877-881-1358).

I never answer marketing calls and figured it was a scam call, but picked up. I have been battling breast cancer for the last year and a half. I thought if it's legit, great, but if it's a scam, I want to shame them a bit.

A perky, warm, well spoken women asked for me by name. Sounding very friendly, she said "Oh you've been hard to reach!" ...then went on to tell me that they are a non-profit, providing assistance to breast cancer patients ...and then asked if I'd like to make a donation (scam alert!). I played along and said "Oh, I'd like to hear more, but could you provide a call back number?" This threw her off. She put me on hold for about 30 seconds, then came back on the line and told me their main number was 877-881-1358.

I said "Great, thank you! Now please tell me more about the services you provide." She did her pitch, telling me of all the wonderful work they do, giving breast cancer patients financial help, varieties of support, etc.

I knew it was all bogus, but said "Wow, sounds like a wonderful charity. I have breast cancer and could really use some help." I then gave her a few details of type, surgery, chemo, radiation, etc. that I've had and what a struggle it's been. I told her I'm in no position to make a donation, but would love to utilize their services. I then asked for their website.

....DEAD SILENCE. Then she hung up on me.

One day she or someone she loves may have cancer. If / when that happens, I hope she thinks back to the time when she scammed people in the name of "The Breast Cancer Society." What a scumbag.
