This company is a fake. They emailed me some forms to sign for a position with Kaiser-Pasadena. I called an inquired about this company being contracted with them and was told they have never heard of them and to not
sign anything, they are a scam..

Hi, I just got a call from this number, but was on another line, so I didn't pick up the call.  They did not leave a voicemail, so I googled the number.  I am so glad I did not answer, and will program in this number to my phone as DO NOT ANSWER!!

I get calls all the time....they never leave a message.  Just another offshore vendor trying to sell their services.  Google them.  If they are good, you will find out.  If not, I am sure there are plenty of stories about how bad they are.  Personally, I never pick up the phone when I see that number.  WOT.

They are indeed spam.   If you're not on the job market and haven't given your resume out in years and never directly to them... then its spam.  

On top of that, they are obnoxious and rude, and unprofessional.

Personally, all calls from recruiters that I've never dealt with I view as spam and tell them to f themselves

My trap call took the number on the screen (877-884-8834) and traced it to 011-877-884-8834 - so are they calling from an international number or US?  Who knows.  Three calls in a row, three different numbers.

It is yet another "recruiter" with an Indian accent.  First they send an email with a job that I am either unqualified for or is in another state, then they call to try and "qualify" me for the job.  Probably an offshore recruiter working from some call center in Mumbai that does not own a globe.

I work in IT and get calls from these people (not just this number) all the time. My rule is if I can't understand your VM, I delete it before it's finished. I don't know why we need to offshore our freaking recruiters now too. TOTAL BS.

Mastech.  They are not spam and they are not offshore.  I thought so at first, but I gave them a chance, and they got me a job making $52 an hour with a direct hire on the phone in about three days - they were fast and persistent with me, so I'm guessing they were just as persistent in selling me to the client, which is what I like.  They were located in PA, while I'm in Ohio, and yes, the several different people I spoke with had heavy accents, but I worked for them as a contractor inside Chase bank right down the street from me in Columbus, Ohio, and my paychecks came from Mastech.  I had one issue in the beginning where there was a pay discrepancy, but other than that, they were not bad at all to work with.  I've been in the IT contracting industry as a business analyst for just over 15 years, and they call often, sometimes with things I'm not qualified for, which is annoying, but they're not any worse than any other recruiter I've worked with.

They're not "fake."  They're recruiters.  Very often a place with an open position will allow recruiters to fill them, but they don't know who all the recruiters are.  There may be 30 different recruiters presenting resumes.  They're not a scam, and I know this first hand, because I have worked with them before. It's not a scam, it's how all recruiters work.  I think people just think they're a scam because they all have Indian accents.  I'm pretty sure every one of them I spoke with was Indian.  Didn't matter to me, the pay was incredible. There were a couple bumps in the road, just like with any employer, but they fixed them when I brought it up.  No different than any other recruiter I've worked for.  Feel free to look them up.  There may be multiple locations, but the one I worked for was in PA, and the address on my checks had a PA address as well.  Yes, there have been Mastech recruiters who call me for old resumes I've had posted from a few years back that are seriously outdated, but that's been true for me of all recruiters.  It's annoying.  But that usually means they're desparate to fill something, which usually means the client is in a big hurry, which usually means easy money for me. (or you, if you're the one taking the call).  I mean, take the normal precautions, don't give your SS out until you have your offer in hand and know who the end client is (and by that point the client SHOULD know who that recruiter is, since they have an actual offer).

The numbers for 2013 are incomplete as the year isn't over yet.  This company is exclusively a sponsor of H1B workers.  Their only interest in a US citizen is getting a resume to fulfill a legal requirement before placing a foreign worker who has probably already been selected.  I have been contaced by one of these people about 15 times supposedly for Ksiser positions.  Once I screamed at them to never call again.  No effect.  If you did that to a recruiter who was actually representing you to one of their clients they would write you off the list as someone they did not want representing their company.  Not these people, as the goal is not to hire you anyway.  I have read comments posted on the NYTimes web site from former managers who said they staffed entire departments exactly that way, with all managers being citizens and all programmers Indian.  As to the posting below from someone saying they contacted Kaiser and they said they never heard of them, that is what I would expect since they don't want anyone least of all the recruiters they are using to funnel citizen resumes for people who will never be hired to know they are being used in that way.  Also possible that particular manager was not in on how it works.  For anyone that thinks this company is legitimate ask yourself how they could possibly get any inroads into a workplace as a recruiter with all the competition involved given their horrible English and unprofessionalism if there weren't some angle.  

If you receive unsolicited email solicitations from this or any other company I would suggest running the company name though the web site above and emailing them the results with a request to state that they are not exclusively an H1B employer with cc to state and federal dept. of labor addresses and stating that if they do not respond you will accept it as proof that their solicitation of you was not a bona fide job offer and then file a formal complaint.

They left me a message about my updated resume on career builder. They are a recruiting firm and called about a position that fit my resume.

Moesh (recruiter) called me twice and left a voicemail message for a position with Kaiser Permanente.  I'm not going to respond because it's mostly likely IT (I worked with the IT group, I'm not an IT specialist) and it's contract.  His extention is 2148 in case you're interested.

What you're saying makes sense. I worked at a wholesale bakery and the process for hiring a foreign workers involved offering the job to American workers for the going rate, unsuccessfully. Yet this guy who I spoke to seemed to bend over backwards to steer  me towards getting the job. A first rate con man if that's what he is. They do make money if they get you hired. Hopefully it won't be a waste.

Thanks, Melissa for your post. I believe you're setting most people straight as the others seemed confused over the role of recruiters. However, on the other side of the coin, you're the only one in this blog who's defending them. "CCposter" seems to present some good information for the argument they are merely visa traffickers.

That seems very rude and misguided. Although some companies DO take it too far and harass you - can you honestly say that you would turn down a perfect job offer from a recruiter with which you have never worked? That seems ludicrous to me. If you ask me, the person saying "go f yourself" blindly, is the rude one.
