Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois provides customer service functions to MedicareBlue RX and this number is used for outgoing calls.

Whoever is at this number is only letting the phone ring twice before hanging up.  Even a champion sprinter can't make it to the phone that fast.  Two rings is enough to get the caller ID to display and that's it.  When I call this number back, the message states the number is used for outgoing calls and I need to call the customer service number.  If they cared about customer service, they would let the phone ring more than 2 times before hanging up!

These calls are so bad!  In the first place no ID is wrong for so many reasons.  WHY or HOW does the 'phone people' allow these anonymous calls to continue.  It is harassment to say the very least.  I have Caller ID so I know who is calling me and so I can avoid all these  anonymous unwanted calls.  IF they had a serious reason to dial my number - they would identify themselves.  Do they get paid by the number of people they dial and harass every day?  Well I don't answer if there is no identity - but must endure the endless ringing of my phone and looking to see who wants to talk to me.  There must be something that can be done about this - but what?

Left a voice mail to call BCBS customer service at the number on the back of my card.  It appears to be legitimate.

New plan: Pick up receiver, say nothing, count to 5, hang up. YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING".  DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS. DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED! When you press the number to have your number removed, you confirm that your number is a working number and then they sell your known active number to another scammer. Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all.

ROBO CALLS: Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers. Add 800 possible area codes.  The program starts calling every number that it can in succession.  So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone so DNC does not work. The FTC receivesanywhere from 250,000 to 300,000 complaints per month, with robocalls responsible for around 60% of those complaints.

So, just block them, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls.  If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back.  No problem. MY HOME PHONE (Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth® KX-TGH263B LCD/2 Handsets) BLOCKS 250 NUMBERS AND THE ADDRESS BOOK HOLDS 3,000 numbers and the phone talks to you and says spam from across the room (like if you are up on a ladder).  I save each call as spam and don't answer it.  Right now I have 98 numbers saved as spam and still have room for 2900 more.

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt:  (http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml) who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective..  ITS OUR LIFE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK.
One person said to call forward selective to the FCC whose number is 1-717-338-2533

The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and what they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)

Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.

So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually personally know the person calling.

                                                                                           DEBT COLLECTORS
This was posted on this web site:

The Fair Debt Collection Act (FDCPA) was put into place To give people legal rights when it comes to collection agencies and collection attorneys.  If this collection agency is calling you for a debt you owe or a debt that is not yours, they could be violating your rights.

IF YOU ARE BEING CONTACTED BY ANY COLLECTION AGENCY,  get in contact with         http://www.fdcpacompliance.com/           asap so they can determine what rights these bottom feeders have violated and take action.   More and more American’s find themselves being hounded by debt collectors as a result of our country’s recent economic downturn.  The good news is that harassment is an illegal act according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).  The great news is that each infraction is PUNISHABLE UP TO $1,000.00 TO THE CONSUMER for statutory damages, and possibly more for actual damages!  The offending agency also has to pay your attorney’s fees.  The only thing that the consumer generally has to do is help to gather and provide information.

You are correct.  In my case the caller was responding to a billing inquiry I made the prior week.  It is a legitimate BC call providing customer service.  Not a Telemarketer in this particular case.

This number is a legit number from Blue Cross Blue Shield.  It is used for their outgoing calls, to customers they are servicing. It does not accept incoming calls.  You need to respond to the regular incoming call lines for BCBSIL  or the direct number to your agent.

called me twice today. Left a message both times. Reference number was different each time. Also didn't say who the call was for. When blue cross has called me in the past, they ask for me. So be careful. Also called number on back of my card. They checked and said I have had nothing on my account that said that anyone from there ,has called me.

    Annoyed in Illinois
They called on a Sunday. My brother answered the phone and said the caller had a heavy foreign accent and claimed he was from Blue Cross Medicare Advantage. He was asking for our mother. My brother told the caller Mom is now deceased. The caller said he was sorry, and  the call ended.  I think the call was a SCAM. Blue Cross has regular M-F hours. I seriously doubt they would call on a Sunday.
