My fiance got a call from this # from Rob Davis. It is for United Service Credit. They are collecting on a Check N Go debt we tried to handle direclty with Check N Go before it was even delinquent...

They are a collections agency though they present themselves as a law firm.What this really means is that they work under a blanket attorney. Do not be scarred by them. I used to work for a debt settlement company (an ethical one, not a fly-by-night one) who helped people with genuine financial hardships. I have worked with them before for clients and they are awful. Do not pay them any money until you get a written agreement from them stating their information, your information, and information regarding the debt with the agreement clearly stated as to how much you will be paying and how much of the debt will be considered "paid".

Not only was Rob Davis a completely rude jerk, but he also did not provide us with any options we can currently afford. We are waiting for this debt to be sent back to Check N Go or sold to another collections agency. At that time we will then settle it or if we have the money pay it back in full. They use several different #'s and will not answer any questions about what kind company they are or their address, etc. I don't remember the other #, but there is a whole bunch of pages of complaints on this company using other 800 #'s on this site. Just search USC.

Do not let anyone make you feel "bad" for setting up a payment arrangement or settlement with ANY debt collector. Banks and lending companies make billions every year off of interest and trying to screw over middle America. Of course don't borrow money you know you cannot afford to pay back, but if something occurred and you are in real financial straights just do what you can to get back on track. Just make sure you don't work with shady collections agencies like this or listen to their BS about how they are going to "arrest" or "sue" you. It is all a scare tactic for them to get your information to serve you, and to scare you into paying the debt. Of course if they genuinely owe the debt and can AFFORD to pay it back right away then there is no excuse not to!
