An automated incoming call with a message stating there has been a legal claim made against me. It provided a seven digit claim number along with 877-986-3742. Also... They used a name I have not used in more than 20 +years ago. I called the number and they did not answer with a business name or greeting. She asked my name and phone number. I did not give it to her. I only gave their so called claim number. She did recite to me the number I was calling from. She tried multiple times to get my name and phone number that they called to begin with. I told her she is a scam. The phone went silent and after a short while she said, mama your claim has already been forwarded to the courts. I said what court? She mumbled something and hung up on me. Beware! Never give your name, phone number or any personal information.

Called with automated message requested call back on 877-986-3742 and referencing a complaint number. When calling back, they refer you a 'Mediations Department'. They ask to confirm who you are by asking you for last 4 digits of social security number. It is a creative scam trying to collect on old debts going back to early 2000s. They claim they are seeking a statement from you and trying to resolve debt before it goes to court. This is just a creative way for a debt collector trying to scare consumers into paying 'alleged' old debts.

I have so far received 2 from this # even after I actually talked to someone. they did have my last 4 of SS# and name, but when I told them that there is nothing and has never been an amount that they are siting that I owe on my credit report as in collection, they started arguing that not all collection accounts are reported on your credit report. since I know that that is bull and I have always monitored my report I told them that they needed to do whatever they need to and hung up.

A computerized voice calling from Maine at (207) 613-8659 stated on my voice mail there was a complaint against me. The number of 877.986.3742 was given as a call back number.  A seven digit complaint ID number was provided for reference. I attempted to call both numbers but only a voice mail picked up.

I got the same thing just now it's 2015 May 12th

I too got a recorded message calling from 415-802-2971 but asked you to call back at 8779863742.

I too monitor my credit report and have had a bankruptcy discharge still get calls when they aren't even suppose to contact me. I forward on to my attorney to handle after all they need to earn the money it cost for the process.

It sounds like to me a scam and not a fan of robo calls.

I received the same phone call message and the complaint # is 2448454.  Especially Asian people - watch out those scams.
I felt it's scam and checked on Google and there   are lots about the scam phone call comments.  I am glad I checked on Google first and thank to those who commented on Google.  I encourage more people to comment on Google, so there will be no victims.

Yep same thing here today. We owe no one lol. Number came in as Vegas 702-779-3562 Gave the file number and call back of 877-986-3742. Did not bother calling back.. I have read enough about it... However did file a complaint against them as it is illegal to state what they do !

Been getting numerous calls from this number.. They are using a auto-dialer and leaving
"A complaint has been filed against you (then naming my real name" in their automated message)".
(1) The automated message is not in the form of a Zortman Message
(2) The number they are calling is my cell phone.. TCPA violation, Never gave them permission to call
(3) When I returned the call I was told I owe a past due Citibank bill from 1991.. Evidently they are not aware of the statue of limitations, plus this bill was discharged in bankruptcy  in 1993
(4) The collector never read me the mini-Miranda and call monitoring statement.
(5) Never received any initial dunning notice from this company even though they have my correct address.

My return call to them, I recorded so I have all the evidence I need..

So Since I am in a good mood, instead of filing a lawsuit and suing them for $7,000.00 which I am entitled to, I asked them to send me a check for $ 5,000.00

5-13-15 at 4:15 pm. Received call from 760-428-9898 and had Ridgecrest on my ph screen and the message on my vm stated there is a complaint against a Fictious name given and to call 877 986 3742 and reference claim 2450474. I called it and it said there was no one there and to leave a message. I just stated there was noone here by that name and to delete my # from their call list and do not call again. I should have looked on Google first.  I did feel that it was a scam.

Same story for me today only with me if supposed to have occurred in 1999. What a scam. We have challenged and they got nowhere,  but I am afraid that many people have been scared enough to succumb to the obvious final request to send them money.

They must send you $5000 and they must not bother people anymore or they should get a lawsuit for gigantic fine or life time prison.

I just received a call on my cell phone today, May 14, 2015 at 9:08 AM from 225 307 0618. I did not answer. The phone ID number is not familiar to me. Then the caller left me a voice mail stating that they received a document of complaint and has my name on it. They gave me a reference number of my case, 225 0928.  If I were to know more about it I need to call 877 986 3742. I decided to call back to 225 307 0618 from another phone. A lady answered as Atty Wilson's Law Office. The lady asked me my name and my phone number. I did not give that info to her. I advised the lady I do not know of Atty Wilson and she said Atty Wilson may know me. Again, what is my name and my phone number they called. I hanged up. Please do not be taken on this scam.

I receive repeated calls (often up to a dozen per day) from different numbers looking for a Mark Q------ or Juan somebody regarding a lawsuit against them.  The most recent call was about 5 minutes ago from (760) 428-9911.  The call back # was 877-986-3742 with the 7 digit file reference. I never answer any number I don't recognize, but do occasionally call back when a voice message has been left.  I have called more than once to tell them they have the wrong number for the individual they are trying to contact this time and to request that they remove my number from their list.  All they ever do is hang up mid sentence and then call back again later.  One would think that if they actually have a legitimate complaint against these persons that they would welcome information to help them find the guy.  I have googled the names and quite easily found them.
DNC lists are useless, and there is apparently no protection for honest people.  I was told by the police that as long as my number is in the phone book anyone has the right to call 100 times a day if they want unless I unlist my phone number and pay for a private protected line.

Also received call from numerous bogus numbers, stating that "a complaint has been filed against Ali A Maui?" no even my name and to call 877-986-3742.  Glad I googled this number and found the above helpful comments. Obviously a scam, and they even have the wrong person.

Received a call today, when I returned the call to 877 986 3742 the man named Jim Perkins said I owed 1800.00 for a credit card bill from 1999. He became very hostile when I said it wasn't mine and that I wont pay for it and said he would "freeze" my bank accounts. He has called me at least 7 times today and other family members trying to contact me. I want to report this scam and phone number but need to be informed as to where. Jim and the other lady berated me for over a half hour on the phone and said I have 55 min to deal with this or they are sending the Sherriff to my house. I came home to google the number and of course its a SCAM!!!!!

This is the second time they have called me since I told them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Big scam indeed! How would one go about filing suit against these people? Can anyone tell me?

I get calls from these nuts also everyday. I received one about an hour ago and when it said to find out more about this complaint push number 14.
Tired of the calls I pushed number 1. When the woman answered the phone I said, Troy Police Department. I have been ask to find out what this call is about and the nature of the call and the complaint. I heard nothing for a few seconds so I said, I need to talk to the person in charge and get the information concerning this call. If you can't or won't give me the information I need we will turn this matter over to the State Attorney General's office.
Having a complaint against a Police Department is a very serious matter and we need this information now.

I'm not sure during all this crap I was handing her when she hung up the phone. I'll find out in the next few days if they have removed my number or not. If not it will go to my attorney. I am sick of these type of calls.

The United States can put a man on the moon, but can't or won't find a way to stop these type calls.

An incoming call from a different number with the area code of 505-373-2035.  I do not answer unknown numbers so a voice mail was left that was an automated message stating that this message was solely for me, they had currently received documents in a complaint with my name attached.  If I wish to find out what the nature of this complaint is I may dial 877-986-3742 or simply press 9 to be connected to a client representative.  It then said "Your complaint number attached is _____."  They left a seven digit number.  End of message.  They also used a name I have not used in more than 20 years.

Obviously this script is a threat that there has been some type of litigation initiated.  They need to be reported to the Federal Trade Commission.  Obviously when you look up the area code 877 it does not come up.  So they are using a VOIP phone or a blocked number to conduct their illegal operation to avoid being traced/detected/reported.  They need to be charged with wire fraud for making false statements.  The scammers hope that they can catch people off guard and confuse them into thinking that they did have some outstanding debt that they had forgotten about, and that a call from a “law firm” will scare them into paying it right away.

Everyone needs to govern themselves accordingly when receiving these types of illegal calls.
