- Sounds phishy to meThe callers don't appear to be well-trained, imho.
They sound undereducated too.
So, I think they are employees of a fraud.
(Perhaps they don't know it.)
They ask many simple things
to get me to say "yes" each time.
(But, I avoid saying yes to strangers.)
I don't lose my temper with them.
I act a bit slow, and they persist.
Anyone can put 1-877-992-3999 on call display;
this is not a technical challenge.
So, I suspect this number displayed may be a falsified display- Caller: StatCan
- ClaudetteThis guy called stating he was from statistic Canada (Funny 'cause I actually received a legitimate call for smokers from Statcan today...lol) he asked if he was speaking to: "Claudette" I said yes the he somehow was having technical difficulties & said he'd have to call me back in a few minutes...the whole conversation sounded fishy to me. This was at 8:41. At 8:45 he called again. I got my husband to answer. Nobody answered when he said hello. He said hello again then hung up...at 8:47 they called again. My husband answer & told them off...the called again it was still 8:47 for F@#$ sake. What is wrong with this idiot's????

- Bev| 1 replyCaller asked for email address of our HR which I refused to give. She then asked for our mailing address. Funny cuz she can just Google it.
- Jess replies to BevStatcan employees are not allowed to use the Internet for confidentiality reasons
- DanyJe ne comprend pas pourquoi statistique Canada utiliserait un numéro de téléphone des États-Unis. I don't understand why star, Can would use an american line to call canadian. Je ne répond alors à aucune questions. So I do not respond to questions.

- JuliaReceived a call from "private caller" just before 6 p.m. Jan 12, 2016. Caller was female. She said she was calling from stats Canada and asked for my daughter and how she could contact her. I asked if this was for population statistics. She said it was for an educational survey. She wanted her phone number. I said I wouldn't give out information to a private caller. I also said when I finished a college course recently, I received survey calls. The number showed up on my phone not private caller. Someone else was in the background telling her what to say. I asked who she was talking to. She said she was getting training. My gut told me something was not right. She gave me this number and said to google it and asked that I tell my daughter to call them back. Not sure about this so I will not respond until I am convinced it is not a scam.

- DavidCaller claimed to be Statscan. Spoke in French, so I hung up. Called again. I requested English. Middle eastern accent, claiming to want clarification of items on census form. I replied that all information was correct, and that if someone had a problem understanding, it was their problem, not mine. I said goodbye, and hung up. No further call.

- Peton| 1 replyThis number called me on Thursday thaen again today... I decided to call back and their answering service sounds fake! After it cut in like an answering machine after several rings and you can hear the click that changes it over, so fake as all hell ... it starts out in French and claimed to probably be a gov agency and then in English was like for service in French press a button so I didn't press anything and it continued in French :/ most gov or official places don't ring several times as they have things set up to provide imidiate answers and service. >.< and you'd hear English first. I don't trust it.
