- LBcalled, no message
- Caller: ?
- SC| 1 replyGot a call but i don't have a barclaycard.
- Donna| 2 repliesMissed the call.
Recorded message said suspicious activity on card wanted me to return call, enter 16 digit number & would then be connected to customer service.
I don't have a Barclay card- Caller: 877-997-8930
- Syd replies to DonnaI got the same message a couple hours ago except it was for a Mastercard World account whatever that is. And, I do have a Mastercard but I've always received a call from a customer service rep (not a recorded message asking me to enter my credit card number...) when there is suspicious activity on my credit card.
- DawnGot an automated call on my cell phone from "The Fraud Department" advising of suspicious activity on my Barclay card and asking that I enter my 16 digit card #. I do not have a Barclay Card. I hung up.
877-997-8930 - AnonymousThis scam robo-call was supposedly from Barclay's World MasterCard. The message said to press "1" to be connected to a representative, or to call them back at 877-997-8930. I don't even have a Barclay's card of any kind. It is my strong belief that this is a scam to steal your credit card info.
- Caller: "Barclays MasterCard" - not really
- Scammed| 1 replyNormally I wouldn't pick up unknown numbers but this one identified itself as Verzion Wireless so I picked up. Nope, it was the barclay scammers everyone else is complaining about.
You really have to wonder about Verizon security if the allow scammers to use their own name to scam others on their phone. Pretty pissed that pohne companies still allow scammers to use their netowrks and commit fraud in their name non-stop.- Caller: Verizon Wireless
- Tom| 1 replySame here. Barclay World MasterCard robocall. Figured this was a scam but called back on my cell and got a message then hung up. Called back again on my work phone and interestingly enough got a tone and the message "this number is no longer in service". Seems like the call back will go through if they, the scammers, recognize your phone number. Will attempt to infect their system with a new virus...

How do you reach the absolutely ridiculous conclusion that the phone companies are allowing these scammers to commit fraud in their name? It's been less than 7 1/2 hours since the first report turned up in this thread. Do you honestly think that Verizon would be able to investigate these calls -- which may be coming from another network or even overseas -- and shut them all down in less than the equivalent of one business day?
And have you, yourself, even bothered to inform Verizon about these calls? I'm sure Verizon's corporate office doesn't read this site on a regular basis, if at all. How can they take action on something they don't even know about?
Trust me, if someone is trying to falsely pass themselves off as Verizon Wireless, Verizon would take very quick action against them (albeit it may take more than 8 hours to do so). That's why they get trademark protection for their name and why they have loads of intellectual property lawyers protecting them. - L Morgan| 1 replySame as everyone else. Voice mail claiming to be from Barclay Mastercard indicating that fraudulent activity had occurred on my card and that my account would be blocked or something. I didn't listen to the entire message as I do NOT have a Barclay Mastercard and my credit card companies would not call on that line.
So..... SPAM / FRAUD call.- Caller: "Barclay" Mastercard
- marie replies to L Morgansame here. We got a call which was a MasterCard fraud alert. We checked with mastercard and they confirmed there was no fraud alert on our account, so this is definitely a scam. Don't give out information!!!
- MikeI just got the same call also 10 mins. I don't have a Barclays Mastercard. Plus I'm curious on how they got my Att cell phone number.
- Caller: Barclays Mastercard Fraud Dept
- westLAGot an automated call on my cell phone from "The Fraud Department" advising of suspicious activity on my mastercard. which i dont have.
- Call type: Debt collector
- MJust got a call from this number from "the fraud department". Sounds like a scam
- ashmunkyScam. I don't have a Barclays Mastercard and they said that I needed to call them back for suspicious activity on my card. I don't have a Barclays account.
This scam is going wild if this many people felt like it was necessary to comment. Warn your friends and family. They are going down a list.- Caller: Claiming to be Barclays
- Call type: Prank
- Mario SalazarAgain these people where calling me asking to put my card info so that they would"confirm" it's mine but I have no Barclay card and no one has opened one on my name as far as I know. I checked my credit
- Caller: scammers
- HThis is phishing scam, do not give them any information.
- Lauretta Logan replies to SCSame. Must be a scam of some kind.
- Lauretta LoganThere is one option. Enter your credit card number. I'm guessing the next steps include entering the expiration date and CCV code. Of course I entered nothing. This site confirms my suspicions. SCAM.
- Caller: Barclay World Mastercard
- JonaJust called me on my cell. I didn't pick up--instead I immediately looked up the phone number and found this thread. I have a Barclays M/C, but I haven't purchased anything in the past month, so taking everyone's feedback and adding this number to my block list. My question is, how to these bad guys know this kind of personal info?! I wonder if there's malware that's hiding in my computer, and tracking cookies are tracing my activity back to these mother f*ckers.
