I recently read inquires from dozens of readers who find themselves in a sililiar situation at the website of cjupin.com.In addition,a news article reported that Equifax was knowingly and unlawfully selling "former customers" credit card info to the bad guys, which are then fraudulently billing the credit cards for unauthorized charges......I use Equifax frequently; In fact,Equifax charged the same credit card 16 days before it was falsely billed by HBS.

The same thing happened to me exactly. How do these people get our bank card #. I sure hope they catch the people. It is obviously a fraud. It is only $9.40 but I am very angry about this especially if someone is selling our credit or debit card #s to someone.

Apparently that phone number is an advertizing agency!  Did anyone answer the phone and have an automated call saying your credit card interest rate was going to increase and press 1 or 9 to speak to someone, then the line is dropped!!!  I have herd of similar scams that once you press the number they like charge you at peak rate!!! BUT how do they know my credit card number!!!!!!!??????

Ignore my first posting…. Just read other submissions here and also found that I used this card for Equifax earlier in the year so I have now canceled this card.  Thanks.

I am in the same situation. $9.45. The bank is having me fill out a police report on Monday because there seems to be no origin.
I have not requested Credit info.......

I also just got a charge (May 2nd) for $9.45 with the HBS 888-215-5608 CA code. This is the second charge I have gotten since doing a free one-time credit report with Equifax while buying my home. The last one was for only about $6.45 and the bank said it came up as a book store on their vendor codes. I failed to get it removed b/c I thought maybe it was just something I had forgotten, but when I called the number listed on the statement, I got the same recording as the one this time... If they do this to thousands of people multiple times, many of which may just let it go, think about the amount of money they are making fraudulently!

I just had the same thing happen to me.  I had a similar charge from another company show up on my card a few months ago.  Both are obscure marketing companies and they try to say the charges are for advertising fees even though I've never advertised for anything!  Now, with this charge on my card, I'm cancelling it and getting a new one. I would recommend anyone who gets these charges to do the same.  Your card number is out there 'somewhere', and I can tell you from experience that this won't be the last time your card is charged!

I just got the same 9.40 charge from HBS and the same message all of you received. It was on a corporate card which was in an envelope with our finance person as I was out on medical leave and had only just returned. Scary.  Will report it.
