Interested to know who they are.

The person claimed they were from X cel energy calling due to a past due balance. I checked online and my account was not due until 2/17 and the payment had already came out of my acct 2/5 (yesterday) So im not really sure if it was legit because Im definately not behind. the id showed two numbers, where the name goes it showed 301-223-0080 and on the bottom was the 888 number

I received a call from a 301 (maryland) area code and they left the automatic message (as in the above messages) to call back this 1-888 number.  I looked up my Xcel phone number I usually use and noticed it was a 1-800 number.  When I called the REAL Xcel number, they said my account was at a zero balance, and that this is not a number associated with Xcel.  I left this 888 number and the 301 with the customer service person and they are going to pass it along.  
DO NOT call the 888 number back, and if you do, DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFO out.

Xcel was called and they verified that this their consumer care center's number. They used to call after your bill was 30 days late but now they have been doing is sooner. Ours was 2 days late. The payments are processed at 8 pm but they said it may take 3-5 days to clear your bank account.

Call From 888-220-8409 come in with the Caller ID name field saying 1-301-223-0080.
Let go to VM but they left no messages. Oh well, their loss.
IF it is Xcel Energy then they need to get a life because my account is current and not even a second late

i have had about 15 calls from different areas..all with no info about me just my number and just them trying to fool me to give info...im tires of this i dont know how they got my number..its a cell ...im getting 10 calls a day from these fools...

Everyone needs to just get rid of their answering machines since no one leaves messages anymore. We got a new phone system with no answering machine and everyone who know us that does need to leave a message knows to call our cell phones. We don't even have voice messaging on our home phone. Don't know who these people are but our bill is due the last day of every month and the payments come out automatically, so don't know why anyone from Xcel would be calling us, it's only the 24th and our payment is scheduled to be made on the 31st. Stupid people if you ask us.

I just got off the phone with this company claiming to be Xcel, and the REAL Xcel. They ARE NOT XCEL ENERGY!!! They are "West Asset Management." Subcontractors to the real Xcel Energy. And they are being DROPPED by Xcel, due to their shaddy buisness practices and numerous complaints. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO!!!! And tell them exactly how you feel and report back to the REAL Xcel about them!!!! They will even try to set up payments which they are not allowed to do!!!

Thanks Ken I've been getting these calls for 3 days now!!! When I called the 888 number they id themselves as XCEL so I went off on them I told them my bill was paid with XCEL when I tried to talk with a supervisor they h/u on me wow how shady is that!!! So I called the real XCEL back -- gave them all the info and got a 20.00 credit on my acct for the inconvenience XCEL rocks!!!! The real one that is

This is not Excel. These are criminals who got their hands on Excel customers names and are trying to defraud them by claiming they haven't paid bills. Some poor schmucks send money to these scammers, and then guess what, the real Excel starts hounding people because they haven't paid their bills. Don't ever pay someone who claims to be Excel unless they send a real paper bill to your real address. The real Excel will never call you.

I got a call from them.  About half the posts above say they are legit and half not...?  This makes me nervous, as I'm pretty sure I've given them info before.

I received a message from"Xcel Energy" to call them back and a reference number to refer to. They Used my full name in the message. How ever it did sounds like an automated message with a computer voice saying my name. I know that I am up to date on my Bills. I called the number twice from my cell phone. Both times a recording said, "This call may be monitored for quality assurance." But then they were disconnected. Working at the base of a mountain I figured I lost service on my cell so I called from a land line in the office. Again, I was disconnected. I really hope this isn't once of those scams where you are automatically charged for calling the number. Any suggestions?

getting calls from this number - they apparently are a telemarketer

Been getting a call from this number several times past couple of weeks. It starts out as a recording about home break-ins and then wants to put a home security company sign in our lawn.  Didn't stay on the line long enough to find out what company it was.

It is not true that the real Xcel will never call you! They will do courtesy calls but the automated call is just a message to call Xcel.  A  good rule of thumb for any callers claiming to be a company is to refuse information and then make a call to the real company and check into it.
I just got one of these calls and when I called Xcel I do have an overdue bill but it was not for the amount that was claimed.  Xcel (the REAL Xcel) said if they call back to ask for their agent number and what department they are calling from.

Have received calls at work from this number almost every day for the past couple of weeks.  The recording says "stay on the line for the next ..."  Click.  Really?  I'm going to spend my time waiting for one of their sales/scammer people to have the time to get around to actually trying to scam me?  Not likely.

I have received calls from this number a few times (to my work phone).  When I picked up today, a recorded voice asked me to stay on the line for the next representative.  I actually waited this time so I could ask them to take the number off their list.
After about 30 seconds, a live person picked up, identified himself as being with Xcel Energy, and asked for a woman who I do not know.  I said she was not at this line.  The operator, who seemed like a nice guy, apologized and said they'd take the number off their call list.

My ma got this number today and by the list of complaints I'm glad she didn't pick up the phone..I checked with her ex-cell bill and shes current with them...sounds like scammers
