- dracoMan claiming to be from the Government Accountabilty Office, doing a survey on phone service providers. I asked him how he got my cell phone number and he said "the computer" generated numbers and he called them.He also said that he would reimburse me for any cell phone charges that I might incur during the survey. I asked him to take me off the list and he said "ok" and hung up abruptly. Could be legit but why would the government care about my cell phone service. Doesn't Consumer Reports do a good job with that???? Sounds too scammy.
- LoriThis number appears on my caller ID from 2 to 6 times daily, 7 days a week. My husband finally answered one evening and found it was a company called NuStats doing a survey about public transportation. 45 minutes later, he had answered all of their questions and we thought that would be it. They sent us a packet the following week with the results from their transportation study and we were certain this would finally be the end of the calls, but this was not the case. They still continue to call at least twice daily and often more than that. I have since answered and asked politely to be taken off their list as we had already participated in their survey. They hung up at that point and still continue to call 7 days a week. I really would like these calls to stop!!

- AlisonI have a prepaid phone & since this is an 888 # I dont answer. I thought I would look it up online to see who it was & found this site. They call me about 3 times a day which is beginning to piss me off. I think next call I'll answer & tell them I'm going to turn them in for harrassment to the FCC. We'll see where that goes. LOL
- ballyIf you tired of these phone calls fill out an online form with the FCC and they will investigate. The FCC prohibits calls from these kind of numbers that when you answer there is no one there.

- Somebody Stop These Damn Toll Free calls| 1 replyCalled my house today even though I am on do not call list and have call rejection. I report all these calls to the FCC, FTC, Do not Call and FBI. I encourage people getting these call report them! If you people who are calling are so legit why not reveal who you are why spoof caller IDS and robo call people!
- BAH to numbers I don't knowI just received a call from this same number - 888-223-3854. I refuse to answer when I don't know the number. I am on the DO NOT CALL list and will follow the ideas given here to report the caller. They did not leave voice mail.
- annoyedI'm also on the do not call list and received a call from 888-223-3854. The name on my caller ID just said "TOLL FREE" so I didn't answer. They did not leave a message.
- KenI am on the do not call list and was annoyed by calls from this number with "TOLL FREE" on the caller ID. I called them back to ask them to stop calling me. Surprisingly, a human answered. He was polite and was willing to add me to their do not call list, so I asked who they were and why they were calling me. He said that the company was called "PTB data source" and was conducting a transportation survey that would be used to improve transportation options in my area. Since their purposes seemed legit and they were polite and easy to call back, I agreed to answer their survey. It took about 10 minutes, and they said they would send me $25 for participating (after I complete and return a one-day "travel diary" that they will mail).
I am annoyed by unsolicited phone calls and normally refuse to deal with organizations that place such calls, but in this case I made an exception. I can understand that they may want to get a random sampling for their survey, and if they asked people to contact them then they would tend to get biased results.- Caller: PTB data source

- Richard| 1 replyNu Stats a survey company. I'm on the no call list so they shouldn't be calling me either.
- Caller: Nu Stats
- Call type: Survey
- KenCorrection to my earlier post: it was PTV DataSource (not PTB). They are affiliated with NuStats. I got the survey packet in the mail today and it lists a website with more info:
http://sites.nustats.com/frontrange/- Caller: PTV DataSource, affiliated with NuStats
- Call type: Survey
- JonesPtv datasource is contracted by multiple goverment agencies. they specialize in conducting transportation studies to better public, private transportation. (roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, handicap buses metros.ect) The federal Do Not Call list does not apply to survey takers like ptv, DNC list is for buss. trying to sell something. If you do not want to be bothered say " I am not going to participate, its pointless that you keep calling me. I am giving you a FINAL REFUSAL. Please do not call and dispatch my number as a HARD FINAL REFUSAL" make sure and ask for name and Employee number, usually starts with a letter then two digit number. example. I32. If they keep calling request to speak to a sup and get SUP ID NUMBER. good luck folks

- Avery| 2 repliesTHIS SURVEY COMPANY IS LEGIT.
If you gave them time to give you their website and travel survey hotline then you would realize that all these poor people are doing is trying to make a living just like everyone else!
They are hired by transportation planning agencies in YOUR STATE, so if you have a problem, take it up with your congressmen not the people on the phone. The computer does generate a random sample of numbers for them to call, so no, they aren't singling you out to bug you, they just want to help improve the transportation in your area. Most of these studies have been done some years back, so this is nothing new. Also, I know for a fact that some of you are exaggerating about how many times they call you. Any time a record comes up, it shows how many times that number has been called, so they know if your lieing about how many times you have been called. If you want them to stop ANSWER THE PHONE! Be polite, and just say no thank you.
And survey companies are exempt for the DO NOT CALL LIST!!!- Caller: ptv nustats
- Call type: Survey
- lcl replies to RichardDNC does not apply to survey calls...
- cclc replies to AveryAmen.
- Ken replies to AveryI totally agree.
95% of the companies that call me are scumbags taking advantage of loopholes in the National Do Not Call Registry (and they make it very difficult or impossible to request removal from their lists), ... but this company is a rare exception. They even paid me to participate in the survey, just as they said they would.
That other 95% make me wish that there was a strict "absolutely do not call me EVER unless you know me" registry, but participating in this survey made me realize why we need exceptions.
I just wish that there was a way to punish the scumbags but still allow legit companies like this to operate. - Dan| 1 replyAppears as toll free call. I press the talk button and then the disconnect button. At least they will have to pay for the call.
- Caller: (Toll Free)
- surveyor replies to Somebody Stop These Damn Toll Free callsFYI people: the do not call list applies only to telemarketers and solicitors. Survey research is perfectly legal and sponsored by many government agencies. Politely asking to removed from a call list should end the calls. Most surveys send out advance letters or postcards notifying that a call will be received. If they are still calling, the information was incorrect, incomplete, or illogical. Listen to what you are agreeing to do, as it is explained in most scripts. Most surveys have a website for reference. Also, a legitimate caller will have contact information for verification.
- surveyor replies to DanUltimately, you are paying for the call. It is your local government agency using your tax dollars for the contract with a research firm.
- SteveGot a call from then, sounded legit, i am getting $40 to log my transportation for one day.
