This is a "Nationwide call center".  They said they don't make outgoing calls.  This is a call center for various cable companies.

I get a call for this all the time as well, apparently some deadbeat signed up for cable with my phone number and hasn't paid the bill. So I get all his/her phone calls.

A man called me and told me rather speedily that my Comcast bill was overdue to the tone of $209, and that I needed to pay it immediately to prevent shut-off.

He claimed that he was hired by Comcast, and tried to get my CC or checking information.  I knew our cable bill was not his stated amount, and we called Comcast directly to confirm this.  They did confirm that we didn't owe that much, and that it was indeed a scam.

They also informed us that if their collections department DID call us, it would still come up as "Comcast" on the caller ID.

I got a phone call from this number right after a few minutes later my service cancellation request to Comcast.  He said I need to make a payment in oder to prevent my service being disrupted, I told him that's exactly what I wanted and that's what I called Comcast for.

this number appeared on my caller id as out of area, i called it back, just got a quick busy signal.  unlike other reports, my comcast bill was a month behind but i caught it up just the day before....weird!!  i hope that they call back so that I can give them a piece of my mind!!!  thanks for this helpful information, all of you who posted!!

I was hoping these morons would call back and they did.  Same number, same time of day, the woman said she was from Comcast and it was regarding my past due Cable service bill.  Well, I do not have cable through comcast, I have had Direct TV since 2000, then she guessed that it was my phone....WRONG AGAIN, I have Verizon!  Then she said High Speed internet, she had it right but I told her no then immediately reported the incident directly to Comcast.  The confirmed that my account is active, in no fear of disconnect and, like others have said here, if it was a Comcast representative, the number would show up as comcast, not out of area.  Also, the caller would have known exactly what service I did have....what was creepy is that they did know my address.  What a JOKE.  I am glad I am suspicious enough to check sites like these before talking to people and NEVER GIVE OUT INFORMATION ON THE PHONE, TO ANYONE!!!  Protect yourselves, people.  Thanks again for the helpful information.

Thanks for posting all this information. We're often behind a month on our cable bill, so a call like this probably would've sounded legit. Since I always look up toll free numbers before I answer, this is one number I won't be picking up.

This number is harassing they called 14 times yesterday, and the 2 days before that! this is such a problem I blocked the number w/call fwding to 999-999-9999 AND still they call our number! we just paid our comcast bill last friday the pink pd slip is sitting next to my keyboard as I type this .....I am so mad at this company and dont see how they can do this to so many people for so long and get away with it, I am fed up with this!!!!! oh and to top it off we are registered with the do not call registry and I have made numerous complaints via their website to no avail! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i get a call from 888-226-2278 two or three times a day. if i answer, there is no one there. if i call back a recording states that the number is out of service. it has gone on for about a month now. talk about irritating!!!

I get calls from this number regularly... I have called it back several times and get a busy signal every time.  I find it very interesting too that this number is ALMOST the same as the Comcast number... Comcast is 800 266 2278.   I am usually at work when they call and have not been able to answer when they call... I hope to be able to soon :)

This idiot doesnt speak , they call and then i hear  "  he is home "   well yeah youdumbasssonofabeotch   you called my house !    why hangup ?   if your going to waste the effort & cost  to make the call , at least say something stupid other then hes home ...  My guess is that it is some lonely bill collector that makes $5 an hour to make harrassing phone calls !  p.s. If I owe you money , you myswell write off the loss ...LMAO!   If the U.S army cant find me what makes you think you are special ?   Too Funny     pissoff

Just a Comment ,  I believe that comcast based on what im seeing of these complaints is the culprit !     With new technology out there , they are so advanced now that when you owe on your account they have the capability to control your service from a designated location !  I personally experienced an incident with comcast that confirms such .   My home phone , cable & Internet service are all through comcast .  Once I was late on payment and coincidently my services were Interupted periodically on and off until finally my phone service was completely interupted with the exception that I could only call comcast !  no incoming/outgoing calls were allowed except for comcast ....   comcast has developed a new means of collections or prompting your attention to the services you acquired from them ...   If you are late it is thier policy to harrass you by way of periodic interuptions to service or by way of harrassing phone calls ...   This technology enables them to minipulate your service and prompt your attention to the debt ...   soon the electric company & gas companies will utilize this same technique if they are not doing so already !

Dont let Comcast fool you by Denying Responsibility !   Of course it wasn't them .  why would a highly profitable corporation admit responsibility to Harrassment ?   This tactic enables them to get your prompt attention for the purpose of collections !  If you really want to shutdown comcast harrassment policy , then you need to file a complaint with the FCC ( Federal Communications Commission )  http://www.fcc.gov/  The FCC does not tolerate this kind of abuse and with enough complaints on file they will Investigate !   Doesnt take but One to get errr  done !

I got a call from 888-226-2278 just a few minutes ago.  She claimed the call was recorded for quality purposes and that she was from Comcast.  She said that she was calling to prevent me from experiencing complete interruption of service unless I made a payment using my credit card or checking account information.    I told he that that was ridiculous and she went ahead and agreed with me saying she "checked her ledger and realized I currently owe $0 and to nevermid the call".   She said if I had any problems with the account ever to call 888-COMCAST and to have a great weekend (in a stuttering/nervous yet sweet feminine voice.  SCAM!

Just got a call from these jerks last night. Yes my cable bill is late, mostly because I am protesting how my cable internet keeps reverting to "local only" or kicking me onto an unsecured connection despite the fact that I have a router and a WI-FI lan in the house.  When i did cancel them for a while, they somehow found a way to BLOCK ALL THE OPEN UNSECURED NETWORKS IN MY AREA so I had no choice but to go back to the jackals.  ARG!  Something must be done.

But what I don't like is that you have to prepay for a months service. I think you should be able to use a month of service and then pay. Most of the calls that I am getting from them has the 1-888-Comcast(226-2287)phone number, but it come up as 1-800 service. And says nothing about being comcast. I would pick up the phone if I knew it was comcast and not something or someone else that I don't know.

I got a phone call from a guy named Jeff Anderson from Asset Recovery Group. He is telling me I have a law suit against me for stealing money from a bank. Which it was from Orchard Bank credit card. He was very rude and thretening me.

Just now got I call from the same number asking for credit card / checking account for past due comcast bill. I said I will pay thru my bank and then googled to find this site..
hmmmm scary..

They called my cell twice at 830pm and 930pm. I don't have a past due bill from Comcast, I Checked my online bill. Even when I do, they have never called, ever. This is a SCAM waiting of a sucker. Don't pick-up, Never pay. You NEVER, Never, Neverrr have to give info over the phone. If it is legit, then get a name and call back number, Then call the companies posted number.

I didn't answer, I don't answer any 888 numbers that I don't know.
