Recorded call from "Molena and Woods" requesting me to call and speak with "Mr Reynolds" at ext 100, and using a "case number".  Googling the phone number led me here.  If a search doesn't produce a company, I do not return.

What a bunch of CR@POLA... Treat people fairly is a lie , just the way they tried to SCAM me. Looks like from this web site they are running something else like an escort service. Somebody had posted here that they were putting papers on peoples cars in Houston about escort services in New York City. Still waiting on the sheriff to come and pick me up for a debt we never had. They look in a newspaper st the death section. They look for the survivors and call them saying the person that died had a bad debt they are collecting and want you to pay it. Problem is the card was never issued and number was not even close issued by that bank. FRAUD  FRAUD FRAUD ..IF you owe,  Pay the credit companies not these hoes.

yes,my wife and i have also been harrased by these so called people about an old c.c. debt first wanting to make to payments as a settlement that were to large for us to pay, then after that the threats of being sued in court for the amount owed, plus intrst., and court fees.we have been looking into other options like bankrupcey and debt consldtn.,but since have been threatened with being sued that the matter is being pursued and that my wife has a court date already, even though was never served prsonaly or,posted on our place of residence, after calling the county courts office they showed no record of a court date and told me to contact the collector (moreno & woods) to find out wich court they filed with and the case number for that court.when i called and spoke to mr.tinsdale he stated that he could not speak to me over the phone anymore and only in court,i asked him how do i know wich court to go to if you do not tell me wich one you filed at and he got upset talking legal terms i payed no attention to,since all i want to know is where to show up for court then he stated that a constable would serve my wife and could then obtain the court info. so the last call to her before this saying that a court date was already set was obviousley a lie to get her to make payment.she still has not been served, and we are not trying to dodge the money we owe just cannot affored to pay i feel this extensive harrasment comes from the debt if not already is very close to reaching sol,if we can not come up with the settlement amount before being served wich we probabley can not we are ready to go to court and are not scared about it just see it as a major inconvienance and set back, this is just to inform people the tactics they are willing to take to collect and not to believe everything they say, i feel we may be served to appear in court and we are ready to take that step if we need to.

The suit MUST be filed either in the county where the contract was initiated (where you lived when you got the credit card) or in the county that you are now residing.

If you have papers from a REAL court it will have the state, county and district of the court along with an address and phone numbers of the court.  If these court papers do NOT have this information on them.  THEY ARE FRAUDULENT!  Call YOUR county court - civil/small claims division AND the county that you resided in when you got the credit card and ask if you are a party to any legal actions.  (Some counties have this information lisyed on their county court web-site, you can see if you're a litigant, but you can't see the document...so you'd have to request then through the court.)

IF you find anything you have a period of time inwhich you can 'answer' the summons.  If they have tried to sue you far from where you live and the papers were served to an address that is NOT yours, you can request the action be dismissed.  It doe NOT hurt to say that you do not believe this debt is yours, that they are giving you information over the phone that this debt is past the Statue of Limitations no matter whom it might belong to....  And that they REFUSE to send you any proof of this debt that they are trying to collect from you.

In the meantime---write them a leeter and request any PROOF they have that this is your debt, any contracts, payments or legal documents (they won't send them - but if they take you to court the judge will MAKE them bring in the proof IF YOU ASK FOR IT!), tell them they cannot contact you except by mail and only with legal proof that this is your debt.  Send it Certified, Return Receipt (about 4 bucks) save a copy of the letter and the green card with the signature of the person at their address who had to sign for it.  DO NOT SIGN YOR LETTER.  They can use that signature to make phoney documents that they will use against you if they are given the chance.

Good Luck.

OH MY GOSH!!!  I'm so glad I found this site.  I couldn't make out the name of these people when they left me voice messages and I tried to google what I thought was the name and nothing came up.

Your post made a lot of sense so I wanted to run this by you because these people are absolutely INSANE!!!  I don't even owe a debt and these people are harrassing and threatening me on a daily basis.  I've recently pulled my credit report and I don't see them on there but I do see another collection agency on there that shouldn't be so I don't know if they got on there under another name or what.  I'm in the process of trying to figure all that out now.

I cannot believe that people go through such lengths to scam people.  It's one thing if you actually owe the debt; and still there's an appropriate way to talk to people when trying to collect that debt, but it's something all together different when you tell them that you don't owe the debt and can provide proof that you don't owe the debt.  Yet, they cannot provide any proof of you being responsible for the debt.

So now that I finally have an address, I was going to send a Debt Collection Dispute Letter that basically disputes the debt and requests they provide me with specific documentation that would tie me to this debt; while siting the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

But I don't know if I should just change my number and leave it alone, after reading all of the posts on this site.  I've never received any correspondence from them so I don't even know if they have my home address or not.  I assume they do since they have my phone number and may have accessed my credit report.  I've been waiting for something in the mail from them, so I could send out the Dispute Letter.

I only spoke to one guy VERY BRIEFLY.  I told him I didn't owe the debt and he asked me why I felt I didn't owe it and I didn't even go into it; I just hung up the phone because I knew where the conversation was going.  So, I don't even answer the calls.  I let it go to voicemail.  Sometimes they leave a message.  Sometimes they don't.

I just wanted a second opinion of what you think I should do at this point.

Thanks.

Just today I received a VM from a Larry Stevens at TRF Financial, you can see the complete call notes on http://800notes.com/Area-Code.aspx/1-716 I am replying to your msg as I noticed that you were contacted by a Mr Tinsdale and I was told that the person I was talking to worked for a Russell Tinsdale, however the company names are different but we are having the same results! I also found this site by simply googling "Russel Tinsdale" coincidence? I think NOT! Good luck with your situation, I'm taking this as far as I can!

Moreno and Woods contacted me threatening me with jail over a 300 dollar credit card. They wanted me to wire them 3000.00.. that included all the late fees and over the limit fees. I called my credit card company today and it was turned over to collections but not to Moreno and Woods. A guy named Russell Tisdale told me he was filing a civil suit against me. He said if I didnt get it taken care of he was taking me to court. I checked out their site and my 10 year old neice could make a better site than that. I told him I was thinking about getting my bills consolidated and he said my credit card company didnt work with consolidaters. Be careful people!

I just received to threatening and harassing phone calls at my place of employment from a female stating she was from Moreno & Woods.  She started yelling at me saying I am going to be sued and served at my place of employment.  She called twice, each timing yelling & screaming, calling me "bitch" and "pay your bills".  Who can I report this incident to?

Collection people from the agencies that are doing business as M&W, M&Z, etc are posting on this thread.  They are giving FALSE information, ie. telling people that they have had money taken from their accounts; they are HARRASSING people who give legitimate information, ie. name calling, telling people they are scumbags, etc. ; they are MONITORING the information here and they are angry!

DO NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU.  Thay are the scumbags, they are criminals.  They are only interested in easy victims who will send them money out of fear.

IF THEY CALL YOU -- do NOT give them ANY personal information, no bank account numbers, no credit card numbers, no names, addresses, NOTHING.

If they say you are being sued, you will receive the court papers FROM THE COURT (not from them) and you will have 21-30 days to respond TO THE COURT.  They cannot have you arrested, they cannot threaten legal action UNLESS they have initiated legal action--in which case--you will be sent papers FROM THE COURT.

Do NOT send them ANYTHing with any personal information on it.  NEVER sign anything you send them (like a decease and desist letter to stop contacting you, and only via mail with PROOF of the debt)...  They will use that signature to produce fraudulent documents to use against you.

These people are con artists and criminals.  Do not let them bully you.

Moreno And Woods list their address as 1900 Empire Blvd, #252 in Webster New York - that's in the Rochester NY area. This address is a UPS store located in the Baytown Plaza Shopping Center. As to where they are "actually" located who knows??? This particular UPS store offers mail forwarding services, so it could be the mail is received there and forward elsewhere, and who knows where that is??? A recent letter sent to them was signed for by an idividual named M. Morreale - unknown if this is a male or female, but be that as it is, this individual is no doubt an employee of the UPS store referenced here...
These people are liars, and that has been proven and substantiated. If any has any dealings with these people, do not believe anything they say, and demand that the debt is valid, and also demand any and all documentation they claim to have that validates the debt...
No legitimate collection agency is going to use the kind of sleaze tactics these people do. They claim my Dad owes Bank Of America almost $18,000 but they have as yet to respond to my demands for any and all documentation that they have that this debt is valid. Considering my Dad has never applied for and has never had a Bank Of America Visa card, I'll just say this ... Moreno And Woods are suffering from a severe case of fecal retention!! My question is this ... where are their offices??? They aren't at the address I mention here, reference that the address is a UPS store...

Pretty much same as Rebecca's, only I think they said Morrin and Woods law firm. They are threatening with felony fraud charges over a supossed account my wife had thru Montgomery Wards. She did have an account but was closed years ago (like 20 years ago) We have done several credit reports and nothing comes up. This happened to us last year with a different firm name and was informed by many people that this is a common scam by collection agencys that buy up deliquent account lists that have exceeded the statute of limitations (7 years) and use this practice of scare tactic to extort money from people. Let's face it, if they can make you believe you are about to go to jail, some people will pay up. It's amazing how they say you owe so much money but will settle for less too. The scary thing about this last call is that they had my wifes SS#!!!!! And like Rebecca we have not found any validation of the company.

I just received a call from this number, same thing about "Mr. Reynolds" and ext. 100.  The guy I spoke with told me he was a law student at Univ of Buffalo.  Basically, he said he was calling on behalf of Maeno and Woods and that I was being sued for a past debt I had "settled with Marshall and Ziolkowski(another dirty collection agency I have since learned!) He told me that the amount that i settled with M&Z was basically null and void, and that they (M&Z) had obviosuly failed to tell me that I owed all types of additional fees and taxes and legal fees on the settlement i had with M&Z. It didnt sound right AT ALL, being that M&Z said that my settlement with them was an actual settlement but either way...  The guy said he would go do some research and try to find a "loop hole to help me out..." blah blah blah... After my experience with M&Z, I know better than to believe anything these people say.  I think the guy did call me back, but this time it was from 716-446-9307 (which is also a NY #). He didnt leave a message. This whole thing is a mess and I just want it to end! He tried to be super friendly, gain my trust etc... but I didnt give him anything, nor confirm anything. If anyone else gets a call from these people I'd definitely be interested to find out what turns out....

orginal call to my home # with a recording to call this number, and same as above ask for mr reynolds.  called, they stated that my wife was being sued, and has a wage levy against her wages from a CC from over 10 years ago (over the statute of limitations).  I said let me call you back.  The state of PA does not allow any wage levy for any creditor garnishment, so I called back to tell them this and the gentleman started using foul language towards, me saying why are you 'f'ing with me, pay your 'f'ing bills you 'f'ing fag**t....the most amazing thing I have ever heard, I hang up, and he calls me back from a buffalo, ny number of 716-446-9307, and again, i 'f' your wife, all kinds of stuff !   I am trying to contact the buffalo better business bureau to tell them about this, but not getting to far with anyone.  maybe the cold weather up there has these mopes brains in the as*... i dont know...but save yourselves the trouble DONT EVEN CALL BACK !  they more than likely brought the debt out from the bank, and they want the money...mind you this was paid off about 8 years ago.
