- rmcSome one called several times claiming to be a collection agency trying to recover money from a sell my son did on e-bay. he is a minor and do not even has an account.
Sounds a scam.- Call type: Debt collector
- granny of 3More than likely it is NCO Financial, a collection agency who contracts with Paypal to do their (ahem) dirty work.
If they call again, tell them you are recording their conversation (which is legal in most states), and demand that they validate the debt they are calling about IN WRITING.- Caller: NCO Financial

- GKYI have had a false & fraudulent charge posted to my bank account that shows it's from Paypal. I have called paypal many times (and the number on the charge) unable to get a human being. (after i press 1 they always want my bank account number then press # NO) they already have it! I left at least 3 unauthorized usage reports with paypal. Zero response. So I turned this over to my banks FRAUD division... Now I am suddenly getting hassled by a collection agency and wanting me to check a website. I DON'T THINK SO. When this number shows up and I answer my phone no human, only a machine with a recorded script. Since they are calling my work phone, only one more call and I will turn it over to the state of Oregon. I believe that Oregon law still prohibits collection calls at someones work #. Then hopefully I will get some resolve to this matter. Thank you granny of 3 I will try your suggestion. And thanks JoeI do know Oregon Law allows recording of phone calls as long as one party knows that it is being recorded. Sure a double edged sword but worth it.

This is a collection agency and they do collections for, amongst other companies, PayPal. I had a dispute with PayPal and I am certain that they are contacting me regarding the matter. I have a great "Form Letter" to inform them that they are "not to attempt to telephone me" and that they are to communicate only in writing, to my home address and that I am disputing the charges.- Caller: IC Systems

- Mike| 1 replyI got the same email as "ME" above.
Some mail headers, may help some other people out there. I too got an email from them. I owe PayPal about $50 so I'm sure that's what they're calling about but I'm currently disputing it. In a nutshell, I sold an item to someone on eBay, they claimed they never got it. I have tracking info showing it was delivered, but they (ebay) are apparently going to take his word for it that it was not delivered.

- andyI kept getting voice mails from them on a weekly basis recently, so i called them to find out what the deal was. She asked for my phone number and told me it was in regards to something with paypal. I did have a dispute open with paypal for about 2 months from someone that was trying to scam me by saying i didn't ship something (from US to New Zealand). That was closed recently after paypal was satisified that the USPS shipping information and delivery confirmation I had was sufficient to prove that i held up my end of the deal. But the lady said that sometimes they don't get notified of things and their records showed that i still owed something. She said she'll update their system and everything should be happy from now on... I'll keep my fingers crossed that this was just some 'oops' on someone else's side...

- ChelleI got the email also from these people. I can't get anything from them. I wouldn't give any personal information to them. If they are collecting on a debt they would have information to verify with me. I have a paypal account but it got hacked about 2 months ago. I disputed stuff then my account got locked. I can't get into my paypal account. I can't log in and check anything. I refuse to give out any of my personal information. They sent an email and they have called over 18 times in one day. I am so tired of them and they are so rude.

I got this in an email that my former exchange student was using. Turns out she was selling stuff on the internet and woderful Paypal allowed fake disputes on the account with out asking her to reply to them. When she went to reply her option was to resolve the issue and she provided her tracking numbers. Paypal then said their was not signature that the customer recieved the items. Under paypal's Term Of Services you only have to get a signature if the item is OVER $400.00 and these items were $8.00 to $24.00.
Guess what Paypal she is gone back to her country. She was a minor and you allowed her to use your system. Simple point She screwed you like you have screwed so many other people in the past.
Good luck collecting anything from a minor in a country where Paypal is not used.

- RobertI myself received the same e-mail that you all have, from a BBrown@comdes.com. They tried to convince me that I was negative 100.00 even on my PayPal, which is nonsense. I went to look at my page, and sure enough, it was locked. They wanted to know my name and banking information before I would even get to know who they were, which is total bunk.
The man on the phone was horribly rude, and refused to give me further details regarding the incident. I've spoken with my lawyer, and got a letter to send to their mailing address that says they can only contact me through postal mail to my registered postal address.
Someone needs to put a stop to criminal behavior like this from these so-called "Debt Collectors". Utter nonsense.- Caller: IC Collections

- DEBTCOLLECTOR| 3 repliesMost of you are idiots.
If a collection agency tries contact you, answer the phone. Get on the phone with them, talk to them, if you owe the money, make payment arrangements, if you can, pay it in full. The reason why collection agencies exist are because of you morons who can't keep a checkbook balanced.
Answer your phone, pay your debt, or at least work something out. You don't even realize how being nice to the person on the other end of the phone can do you. We have a lot of power as debt collectors, and can use it for good and bad.- Caller: Collections
- Call type: Debt collector
- Uhhum replies to DEBTCOLLECTORNo, most of these people are not idiots. Being defrauded by PayPal on behalf of fraudulent buyers who abuse PayPal's default "buyer wins" system (which exists because PayPal does not want to deal with chargebacks by buyers, as it harms their credit rating and ability to accept credit card payments via Visa and Mastercard) is NOT a failure to balance one's checkbook. Additionally, debt collectors do NOT have the right to harass you at home. Do NOT have the right to threaten you. Do NOT have the power to put anyone in jail. And do NOT have the power to put false information on your credit report. Consumers DO have the right to dispute invalid debts and DO have the right not to be harassed at their home or business. Your "power" as a debt collector is actually quite limited. Perhaps you should read the FCRA and FDCPA before you blow off your mouth about your non-existent "power" as a debt collector. Consumers also have a lot of power - power to prevent their credit history from being filled with incorrect negative remarks, and power to prevent you from harassing them and abusing them. It may be in the interest of your $8 an hour job to get people on the phone and deceive them into paying debts which they do not owe, but it is certainly not your "right", and the practices of IC System are frequently in violation of the law. Go peddle your [***] somewhere else.
- Sue Pay-pal888-241-8960. I have not even used my Pay-pal account in almost two years, and they let people hack them all the time. They sent me an email, which they all look the same, phishers Pay-pal emails and Pay-pal, saying "oh by the the way you have 'suspicious' activity on your Pay-pal account, and they froze it. Sure enough Pay-pal went into my checking account and took every cent out of it! They said they would only put it back when they were satisfied it was hacked, and the process that was sucked so much I cannot even begin to describe it. They told me it would be months before they gave me my money back, and they were the ones to blame! I would never use Pay-pal again. If there is any other way to pay for something on Ebay use that! My bank took care of it by putting my money back into my checking account because I had all the emails from Pay-pal saying how it was hacked. They are hacked all the time, and they try to blame it on you, and its them and their non-existent security. Do not ever put your checking account on there on Pay-pal. If you use a credit card use one with a small credit availability, because you will be hacked on Pay-pal, only a matter of time. So of course now they have stuck this fraud calling me constantly like I owe them money for the hacker! They are required by law to send it to you in the mail, to verify it, and by law you can respond, but not with this fraud place. Someone needs to sue them, there's got to be attorneys can do a class action against Pay-pal and this fraud place. Pay-pal gets away with doing this constantly to people with no recourse, and so does this fraud collection thugs.
