They keep calling my number leaving a message to call back within 48 hrs.  I call the NUMBER BACK and it goes into a voice mail, I just hang up....

The have contacted my former husband who I have not been married to in 25 years.  That contacted his new wife and then they contacted my daughter and they are harassing her and she is pregnant.  They kept calling me and telling me that they have notified me officially before it goes to court.  I have no clue I do not have any credit cards and they said it was from 2001.  I am identify theft where someone use my social security and forge my name.  I told them to send me proof of this debt and they never did.  They kept calling from different numbers.  Please stop this insane calls.

I got the same message as toni "there is POSSIBLE pending litagation against you. Please use this case number code when calling back.  Call back within 48 hrs or else. good luck" they are just a debt collection scam. Don't call them back or at least, don't give personal info to identify yourself to them.

We got the same call and message that you all have gotten, at first it scared me even though I dont have any late bills. But after reading this, I feel a little better knowing that I am not the only one. Hope we can stop this.

Annoying scammer talking about "possible" litigation and 48 hours to resolve.  Ends with "good luck" salutation.  You can tell by the tone and ambiguity they are not very sophisticated scammers.  Hang up and block calls from this number.

Same for me as everyone else, but one thing I noticed was the dates on the posts above: they are all very recent, possibly indicating this company is on scam drive, trying to scam as many people as possible as quickly as possible before disappearing.  Also, one of my searches linked this number to Nelson Hirsch & Associates, which apparently was, or maybe is, a legitimate business, but was on the losing side of a $4.3 million lawsuit for how they handled debt collection.  (http://www.debtcollectionanswers.com/nelson-hirsch-associates.html)  That was in Georgia, but this number appears to be coming out of Dallas, TX.

They just called me with "john stratt"- same message. So after doing a little research I agree with hodor.

I have received this call several times and was given a case number and 48 hours to respond as has been said above. Has to be a scam.

I received a call this morning from 213-261-0105 and a John Stratton left a voice message with the possible" litigation and 48 hours to resolve.  Ends with "good luck" salutation, and provides a case number. Really? Annoying. Blocked them.

Glad to see that 888-259-2437 is a scam. I keep getting calls at work from this number, so not sure how to block number from the work phone. First of all, the recording doesn't say who it's for. But it says press 9 for an operator, so I pressed 9 and wait until it hangs up on me. Then I called the number it says to call, some very uninterested-sounding woman answered the phone named Melanie. Once I gave the case number, she hangs up. So, somewhere Melanie's thinking "We thought this would be fun, why???".

I tried placing these two numbers on a do not call registry but they tell me they are no such numbers

we were told not to call these people back as there would be a large charge on our local phone bill

I called my local telephone company and was told to call 1=800-366-4484 or go to www.tigta.gov that is is a scam from someone that works for the IRS.

I received a call from 888-259-2437 with a local number of 602-218-5769. I got the same message as everyone else that I have 48 hours to call back before federal litigation is placed against me. I called the number back and a man answered and put me on hold while he looked up the case number. He informed me that I have a summons to appear in a federal court case for tomorrow at noon in Phoenix, AZ. I live over 5 hours and informed him that summons are suppose to be mailed by certified letter and not a phone call the day before. The case number is for a debt from over 14 years ago. I started to inform the person that what he was doing was illegal and that I would contact a lawyer because I have proof on my credit report that this debt was from my ex-husband and was charged off over 14 years ago. He started to yell at me and told me to get a life I started yelling back at him that I will contact the BBB and my attorney over this and he hung up. I called the number back and it went to voicemail. I left a message that I thought it was a chicken thing to do to not answer the phone and it is even more proof that what he is doing is illegal. I'm definitely pursuing this further.  

We received a message on our answering machine about a aubirtary litigation from a guy saying his name is John Stratt or Stratton. He said that we had 48hrs to call him back to settle this case and gave me a case number to use when I called him back. If  the case isn't settled it would be handled in the county that we reside in. Made me pretty upset and I never called him back at this number he left 888-259-2437. The number on our caller Id says Grand Rapids,MN 218-212-1097 which I am pretty sure the call came from because it is the only call that is on the caller Id for today.

They call about a debt under another person's name (even though I have had this number for over 10 years). I have been getting debt calls for the same person every year. Sometimes it is a lot and sometimes it stops quickly. I do not answer numbers that I do not know.

I returned their call, explained the above, and they said they would remove me from the call list. I'm removed from a call list a couple times a year. You would think at some point they would get that it is not the persons number who they want. (Also, I'm a female, and they are asking for a male....)

Received automated call message from a so-called "John Stratton" claiming possible litigation against me (no direct identification of me by name or other means) with a bogus case # 2014-348970....  was told to respond within 48 hours or face the consequences (legal action)--again, no reference to what type of action.  End of message says "Good Luck"...   haha...yea right....   The number goes directly to voice mailbox....   Clearly a phishing scam looking for personal info....IGNORE IT or better yet--report it to local authorities.

Got this call over a month ago but he was "John Spencer" now he is John Stratton and I again have 48 hours. They hang up on my attorney when he calls. I also have no pending court cases. We did a bankruptcy 4 years ago and pulled a debt from that. Illegal as it was discharged. They get info off public records and that's how they find relatives to call and find you. I just block the calls and continue blocking with each new number and month they call.  I hope he gets a serious case of herpes

Yes this is a harassing scam. It can come from area code 202/516/866/888 they contact your relatives. If they call tell them u have notified Attorney General's Office. Sure to hang up
