Got call, missed it, no message left. Googled the number and found that it belongs to a Prison inmate system to set up collect calls allowing inmates to call out to people outside. This rather bewildered me - I am not aware of knowing anyone in jail. That aside ReversePhoneDetective doesn't impress me - it says the number doesn't exist, whereas Google found >15 refs to the number straight away. And for free..

Recording saying it is a prepaid call from an eastern correctional center, person's name calling Jack Walker. Never heard of the guy and certainly will not stay on the line to hear what he has to say.

First call was at 2:30AM my time (EST), a collect call from Regional Detention Center at Albuquerque, two nights ago. They called once, then again, then again. Finally for fear they would wake my children I shut the phone off. Now tonight they started calling again tonight at 10:30pm (EST) and have called somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 times in a row, even so much as using obscenities in the message. I have denied I don't know how many of them and finally just shut the phone off. Called the detention center and, although the man was quite nice, they said they can't really help me as they have 5 different units and no way to track it. Just asked me to keep denying the charges and they'd try their best to figure it out. Frustrating.

I have received multiple calls on both my home phone and my wife’s cell phone I have friends that are also receiving these calls. The automated portion's fidelity is almost indecipherable.  We have refused the calls, attempted to block the calls via the prompts as directed and called the 888-288-9879 phone number generating the calls multiple times in an effort to block these calls. The automated system that answers your call when you call 888-288-9879 is very good at disconnecting you, taking you down multiple dead end paths hoping you’ll get tried and hang up and also fails to give any information/directions to any department which could possibly be of any assistance to when trying to block calls.  They have a very impressive website http://www.pcstelcom.com/ that tells all about their outstanding service to the community, but is of no help if you have a problem with their product/service.  One of the PCS operators I managed to reach even claimed and kept insisting I must have a friend or family member that is incarcerated and trying to contact us, that it  is my problem and that they PCS cannot block calls to my phone numbers from their system.  The next operator I managed to reach after two days of trying still insisted on the “I must know a prisoner somewhere” mantra apparently in a company mandated effort to irritate and get callers wanting their number blocked to hang up thereby ensuring more revenue from continued inmate calls using their equipment.  When I started mentioning filing complaints with the FCC and the State Attorney General’s office the operator decided perhaps they might be able to block the calls and that she would speak to her supervisor directly whereupon she hung up while indicating she was transferring my call to the supervisor in question.

I'm getting the same thing "If you do NOT want to accept this call, press 1 now" - I think they're scamming us somehow (in Missouri).  I go through Charter comm; they have a call screening option where you dial in *60 and input the number - it'll be redirected to a voice-automated garbage can.  If you don't have charter, check with your telephone provider to see if they have this screening option available to you.
    Good luck...

Same phone number is calling me also.  I have called the number twice now.  I talked to one guy who said that he had my number blocked so that the inmate couldn't call anymore, but I am still getting phone calls.  I called again this morning and the guy I talked to said that he didn't know how to block numbers and that I would have to call back in 2 hours.  Very frustrating!!!  I just filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office.

I got a call from this number. There was nothing but dead silence. In case someone was listening I told them I was on the National Do Not Call List and that they were in violation of it. Then I checked to see who the call came from. I too am in Missouri, btw.

Just got one of these calls. I didn't answer it, and no msg. was left. I immediately blocked it. What is going on? I don't have collect calling on my phone. I am in a Southwestern state, so These inmates really get around even if they are locked up.They are really calling the wrong person if they called me........

This is how I blocked the # from my phone. The easy way is right after you get a call.   Dial * 60 (instructions will follow) this is how our phone service does it..  Dial # 0 1 then # again. Check with your phone co. to see if call-blocking is available. I also called the local DOC and asked if they were aware of inmates using this #. They said they had heard something about it, but offered no more info. I then used a different phone and called the 888 number. The way I understood the  "person" computer message. It is a service that sells phone cards to inmates, and $ can be put on the inmates phone card using a credit card # or a check. I hung up before I heard the whole message. Anyhow, I hope the block worked.

I just got a phone call from this number and didn't answer.  I called it back from my work phone and it said it was for inmates to reach family.  I thought maybe one of my family members might be in jail (which is EXTREMELY out of character).

Does something happen if you follow instructions?  Will it charge you a certain amount of money per minute?

    Frustrating.

When I get calls from this number, they are in Spanish. Not speaking Spanish, it's hard to say what it's about, though there are some names and the woman tells me to push three or nine... they called 10 times between 6:30 and 10.
