Had a tag placed on our door that said this was their second attempt to deliver a gift package (there was no notice of the first attempt, and the 2nd attempt box was pre-marked) with this phone number as one we could call for more information. There's a bar code with no numbers, but no name or other identification.

Us too!  I called the number (like a goof) and it said it was some sort of weather thing.  What is this about?

Also received a notice on our door that an attempt was made to deliver a gift package. The recording says Weather Rite, which I believe is a window company...I believe this is a scam.

I also had one of these notices in my mailbox to call above number.  I've got news for them the correct date is 1/11/10..we haven't hit 2011 yet.  It's illegal to put anything in a mailbox that's not from the us postal service.

Also had a tag placed on my door notifying me of the attempt to deliver a "gift package". What delivery company tells you it's a gift package? Furthermore, as mentioned above, some boxes were printed as checked. I tossed it.

Just received same notice today. Form is designed to look like a UPS delivery form. So many obvious red lights though!

Got the same slip on my door. I have the same story as the others. This is the first I've heard from them, but it says this is the second notice. A gift package, ha!

I live out in North Highlands, CA and got the same tag on my door. I was home when they left it, but no knock, or doorbell. My dogs didn't even hear them. I saw the tag when I went to leave. I'm not going to call the number.

Same notice west of the sac river. Total scam. Hand written notes looks like an ignorant person wrote it too.

I have had several voice mail messages from a toll free number about a past due bill.  I called the number back after ignoring it the first several times and they say oh you need to talk to Mrs. So and So.  But of course she isn't in at the moment.  So I ask what is this about?  They are trying to find my neighbor for a bad debt!  I told them my neighbors debt is none of my business and they assure me they will take me off of their call list.  Next day, another message.  This time they were not so fortunate to have me return their call, but my husband did.  He told them ever so nicely, of course, that they better take us off of their list of contacts for this person.  Funny, no more calls have come in but now this phony Sorry We Missed You note and a call that says they will try again later.  I called the number, you can't even leave a message.  PS We live in West Sac and there have been some strange guys going through the neighborhood trying to convice you to let them in so they can talk to you about your alarm system upgrade.  We called our alarm company and they have not sent anyone out to do such a thing,  They said they don't do things like that.  I wonder if these two scams are related?  Checking to see who is gone during the day.

don't ever buy anything from door to door sales....EVER
last time a magazine kid scammed me..seemed nice..even offered to wash my car.
TOTAL RIP OFF.no magazines showed .NEVER AGAIN nobody gets a cent anymore

On my door on 9/24 in Woodland, also.  Scam red flags sent me to Google, which is where I found you lovely people.  I was home the entire time, they did not ring bell or knock, and neither me nor my dog heard them (and if they had knocked or rung bell, she would have made sure I knew about it).
