I called the number back, since there weren't any reports yet.  It's the National Rifle Association.  I'm not sure how they'd have gotten our names.  We're registered as political independents.  You'd think they'd list who they are on caller ID instead of just "Toll Free Call."

I've received several calls from this number in recent days and answered for the first time today. Upon answering the caller immediately hung up the phone. I called the number back only to find out it was the NRA. It's quite annoying when my number is registered on the BS "do not call list".

these people call, do not leave a message, do not answer you.  it's very anoying.  it's happend a few days in a row.  i am on the 'do not call' list and shouldnt get these annoying calls.  they wake you, make you run to the phone and don't say a word. these types of calls have to be stopped, so if anyone out there knows how, please do it.

I received a call from this number this morning.  No message was left.  However, when I called it back they identified themselves as National Rifle Assn., and gave me choice of receiving more information.  When I chose more information, I was given he opportunity of removing my number from their call list which I did.  Sooooooo...will see what happens now.

Just got a call from this number at 11:55 AM on Friday, June 20.

Took Terry H.'s advice posted upthread and called the number back. Chose "more information" and at the end of the recorded message,I had the option to opt out of further calls and to be taken off their list.

They called me as well, but thank God my phone is advanced and it actually has a voice that reads the Caller ID to me, so when it said "800 Service" I didn't bother running to the phone.  And yes, I'm on the DNC list as well, which I've figured out was a waste of keystrokes.

These rich vultures continue to ring my number refusing to leave a message. The NRA is a despicable "so called" organization. They put out lying propaganda and spend millions of dollars to run our Federal Govt. Their "rights" are killing people everyday. Stop these calls now.

Good grief.  They are also calling from:  855-856-4583 and 888-224-6462.  I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay for call block service.  It has become crazy with calls lately.  Not associated with this organization in any way so I don't want them to call anymore.

They called me on this number and from another number at least 6 times in the last 4 days. They must be campaigning for something like $.   BOY did THEY get the WRONG number here.  I wouldn't give an NRA member the time of day.

I don't answer numbers that have no identity, period.

This doesn't appear to be a ligit NRA activity.

As soon as my voicemail answers the line, these a***** are now holding my line open and backfeeding an "off-hook" tone to my voicemail. I know that they are holding the line because if they hangup during the outbound message or anytime thereafter, the vm drops the line too; thus, the only way to get the off-hook tone to my vm is if the caller is back-feeding it.... I've called the telco about this, they confirmed.

Appears that the callers don't like talking to a machine. :)

My telephone provider allows me to add a bunch of numbers to a block list without an additional charge... guess where this one is going!

I called the number back. Push 1 and at the end of the recording you can request to be taken off the list. They should not be calling me anyways, I'm on the do not call list.

That call block won't stop it i tryed, the phone company said they could not do nothing about it.  Said they could call a they wanted, that the law had to handle it.  Ya Right and i am on the do not call list to.

I receive a call from this number every morning. I have no association with the NRA and am on the do not call list. My husband works nights and I am sick and tired of his sleep being disturbed by unsolicited calls.

I want my name removed from the list of National Rifle assoc. that is calling me from 1-8880321-9438.   They call at least 3 times every day and then do not talk when I answer!  I followed all the directions to be removed from the list on 7/17/12, so please do not call me again!

they called me at 1:12pm Tue 7/17/12.  caller id said Toll Free Call.  I answered no one came on phone I hung up

Have been receiving several calls a day from this number.  Always a disconnect when VM kicks in.

These calls started the day after the Aurora, CO shootings.  Would not surprise me if it's the NRA.  Sounds like they are trying for damage control.

Very annoying.
