called about a very important business matter but very criptic about what.

I keep getting these phone calls from this company telling them I owe them money - they are based in Canada - I live in California!!! They are a collection company and every time I tell them they have the wrong person but they keep calling! Total nuisance!

Private message with no caller ID.  Message gives phone number. As far as I know, private no caller ID from 888 numbers are illegal in Canada.  

An address and a phone number must be given by a telemarketing business calling you. Ask for the phone number and address. If they do not provide this, they are breaking the law.

Call or write the Quebec government and tell them TCR is embarrassing Quebec internationally. :)

Some of the call work is legit it appears. But Quebec is being naughty. What else is new?

Here's the message I got this morning, good thing I checked this site before calling back.

Here's the original message in French:

"Bonjour, message pour mr.xxx .Mon nom est Mélodie. Il est très important de me rappeler au 1-888-331-5222 extension 3936 numero de reference xxxxxxx"

In english it would be like :
"Hi, this is a message for mr.xxx . My name is Melody. It is very important to call me back at 1-888-331-5222 extension 3936 id number xxxxxxx"

Received a call today Oct 26 asking about a friend I have not seen in a couple of years. Very insistent. Gave no information - not even what the company's business is. I informed them that my position is a consumer ombudsman and still no information, saying the Quebec privacy laws say that they may not even reveal the business of their company. Sounds illogical to say the least!

My wife got a call from 1-888-331-5222 asking for me.  She ended up getting in a arguement with this person who was completely rude.  The whole thing was as the previous posters have described; criptic, and only stating that it was of an urgent business matter regarding a family memeber that I haven't been in touch with in a long time.  

I will return the call later today from a payphone so they don't get my work number and will post any new info.

My mom got a call yesterday from that number, they gave number to call back, ext# & reference #. She asked what it was about, since I haven't been living under her roof for 7 years now and the caller wouldn't say...

The caller "Jean" gave me the call-back number, extension and ref#. I asked what company and she told me "P"RC not T RC. I asked what kind of company and she said "just a company"

very important call, ref #.... etc etc.  far too many calls left on answering machine.  enough!!!!

I keep getting calls from a 'private' or 'unknown' number on my cell. The first few times an automated message appeared with a man speaking in what sounded like broken French.   Today I received a message from a woman with a similiar accent who said to call this number 888-331-5222 extension 3981... she gave me an account number and stated it was 'import company research'

by the way, I live in the States and am with Verizon.

Got a call from the same number 18883315222. They asked for someone with the same last name as mine but the first name was different (however it starts with the same letter as my first name). My house line is listed in my name (full last name and first name initial only). I'm assuming they randomly looked me up and guessed the first name. They said it was extremely important and that I should call back as soon as possible. they left an ext# and reference#. The message was left in french.

They called for the second time this morning.  On my answering machine, like the first time, they said (in french) it was extremely important that I call back as soon as I get this message at 1-888-331-5222 and they left a reference number.  Where did they get my phone number?  They don't even have my correct name!!!  Why are they calling???  I don't want to call them back, but I would really like to know what it is all about!  If they are a Collection Agency, for who are they collecting????  If somebody know, please tell it to me!

This company has also called me. They claimed that I was an account holder (which itself does not exist unless specified on a contract -- which I did not sign) for Bell Canada (despite the fact that I have never been with Bell). After getting into an argument, in which the woman I spoke with refused to disclose any personal information that I required into, I was forced to call Bell Canada (and of course, they cannot access any account, for I do not, nor ever had, any account!) and recall these people. Now, sadly, this same corrupt organization is continuing to harass me three months later.

Is there some means to stop this? Are there not laws in Canada which state if you are continually called by someone it can be considered a form of criminal harassment if you have asked them to stop calling you? I would really like to know so that I press charges against this "organization."

They've been calling me for a while now but they don't even have my name right.  They probably go fishing and call many people with similar names.  I won't return their call because it doesn't seem to stop them from calling, from what I've read on this forum.

*** I've called them anonymously from a pay phone and the lady I spoke to told me that they send written notices each time they want to inform someone that he owes money to someone, and that if I hadn't received anything in writing that I should simply ignore the call, that it was an error.  

She probably just said that because she knows that it is illegal to contact someone by phone to recover money...  (They have been successfully sued for that).

They seem to be going fishing for people so they can threaten them into sending them money or something.

Keep getting calls also from TCR.
Sometimes it's a clumsy computerized voice and sometimes what seems like a real person.
I've checked all my accounts and everything is in order so it seems it must be a fraud or something.
I won't call back either.

k, so i've received 2 calls from these people... they left 2 VERY urgent messages... i try and call back to leave a message (cause after reading this i'm really curious to see what they want) but it hangs up on me... so, i'm in toronto, i call the Vancouver office because i know they're still open... apparently they can't help me because they can't access my "account" from there, i need to call the montreal office... it all seems very very suspect... the attendant was very aloof and was trying really hard to get me off the phone when i started asking too many questions...

Received a two calls from these people "TCR",  saying that I owe them $1100.  I have never had an account with visa dejardans who I apparently owe the money to, but the lady couldn't even tell me when or where the purchase was made.  I said that I have reason to believe that they are a bogus company, because I read this the other night after the first call.  The lady starting getting very mad,  and angry.  I'm thinking about taking this to the police.
