I don't have a caller id so can't say if the caller identifies itself through it. They don't leave messages when they call.

these guys are collecting for students loans and if you put the phone number in google you will see the awful things done to people in the money game! they called my daughter in law which i don't know how they got her name since the debt is from 1980 and and my son married her in the 90's and  said i used her for a credit reference to buy a home! bad practice ...do not deal with these people! block them if you can!

they call once or twice a day. They never say ANYTHING- just hang up every time no matter who in the house answers the phone.

Dan called 4/10/2007 5:45pm from 888-337-8331 x6900 asking if this is the ________residence, (yes), is #1 in, (no), is #2 in, (no), (may I help you), well #1 filled out an application with us for employment and used #2 as a reference and if I had an number for #1.---  For staters, #1 is the brother of #2 and I know #1 do not have our new number, second, an 888 number for employment, give me a break.  I ask where he was located and he said Illinois, I asked if he had an address for #1 because his family have been looking for him and he said no.  I asked if #1 one filled out an application for employment, why don't you have an address, he replied, I can not give out that information about his address, and I said well, I can not give out the information for another number for #1.  I took his name, number and told him someone would get back with him.

they keep calling me i never answer i have no idea what they want but i am on a do not call list so i guess i will report them to the feds.

Glad y'all all posted.  They called my brother in law who has an unlisted number and isn't even in his name.  They said they were trying to verify husbands home phone and that they wanted to know if we were reliable to purchase a home or a car.  What a crock.  WARN PEOPLE - this is BAD BUSINESS!!!

Van Ru, a debt collection agency with known bad business practices. I hear they continually screw up on their records and as a result, try to collect accounts that have already been payed. If you're contacted by these people for something you think you've paid already, you probably have and they're the ones who are wrong, not you.

Actually called a person down the street from my residence and asked them to give my daughter a message that they wanted her to contact them! She has not lived here in over 6 years, is married and lives in another state!! What kind of business practice is this?? anymore such actions and I shall seek legal counsel! the nerve!

A few years after college, I arranged a payment plan with Arrow Financial for all outstanding debt.  Almost a year later, I start receiving calls from these Van Ru people about the same debt.  I informed them I already have scheduled payments with another company, and everything is sorted out.  I still receive calls every day or 2, but by a different person.  I don't know how many times I'm going to have to have the same conversation with the same company before they understand they are out of their jurisdiction.  I consider this harrasment.  I no longer answer their calls.

Van Ru called me tonight on my cell phone the number was not blocked. The man behind the call asked to speak with my wife. After conversation with him he offered a settlement on an already settled account. He insisted we send him a western union for his stated amount. When we asked for his phone number and for a number to verify the amount at the department of education he would not give it out. He also stated that this was on my credit accounts. I am with Lexington law and have credit monitor and we know this is not true. We asked how much was the original loan he abated 2500.00 but I would have to pay back 7,500 + 2500. to get the special deal. He also said we would have to send x amount right now through western union. What a CON MAN Talker he was. He also had my wife's ss# how about that, from when we paid in 1998. CON MAN and the company is unethical. I called the Department of Education from the web site number and they had no idea who we were. Note you do have to give the ss# to the department of Edu. When you call.

my wife got a call from van this morning , the guy actually called her by name, asked her for a neighbors phone number and when she told him she didn't have it, he asked her to please forward the number to them, How did he get my wife's name, and number?  the phone is in my name only!

The caller called for husband stating that someone had given his name as a
reference for credit.  Wanted to know if we new where the person was and if we had any additional information on the person as to where she lives, phone number etc.  When I asked who is this would not give name or company or any information regarding who he was.  Called the number back spoke with a female who said this is Van Rue Credit.

Van Ru agent that called has left several nasty voicemails. The company needs to relax if they expect anyone to call them back. Statue of limitations on debt wins in my case, the debt is too old to be collected on.

They call daily and ask for personal information. Then they threaten you if you refuse to give personal information to them.
