Just got a call from "Mr. Campbell".  He said that if I don't pay in full the $20,000 that I owe on my student loans that I will be arrested in 48 hours, and criminal charges will be filed against me.  I informed him that there would be no criminal charges filed because it was not a "crime" to default on a student loan, and this was a matter for civil court, and the worst they could do is to garnish my wages or take my tax refunds (IF I am ever able to find a job), but that they cannot put me in jail.  I told him that I would deal directly with Sallie Mae and Texas Guaranteed and not a collection agency.  He said "I am with the prosecuting attorney's office in your county".  I asked him what county that was, and he quickly changed the subject.  I asked him if he was aware that it was illegal to falsely identify himself as a member of a government law enforcement agency if he was not, and that that actually was a CRIMINAL ACT!!!  I then informed him that I did not wish to communicate with anyone regarding this debt in any other form than written postal mail.  I then called my local district attorney's office and they have said that this is a scam and they are aware of the activity.

THESE PEOPLE ARE SHEISTERS.  I completely agree that I owe the debt, and am working out a payment arrangement with the student loan assistance people, but these people are totally abusive and

I just got a call form the same person, and his VM said the same thing, if I don't call them back in 48 hours I will be charged.   I called and went to VM. I am sure they will call me back.

I received a call from 1-888-347-2375 ot was re routed thru a local number 202-470-4054 stating his name is James Howard and he call calling from District Court Arbritration my caller Id showed Global Connections so i called the number and it says due to high call volume lv a message and the messahe states they are called County Abritrations well i left my attorneys info whicj theu will not call because this is a scam

Got a call from James Howard (on the answering machine) stating he was calling from District 7 Court Arbitration and I needed to reply in 36 hours for a litigation case.  Was given a case number as a reference.  The message ended with "Good luck".  I called back twice and all you get is voice mail saying they have a high volume of calls and to leave a detailed message. This place is called Global Connections???.  After seeing these other comments, I'm going to ignore it and try to block and/or report it.

Yes, ignore them.  Even the FTC had a bulletin on the Global scam.  They are the lowest of the low....

Had a message on my answering machine yesterday from Mr. James Howard at 888-347-2365. He left the same message and a case number for me to call in order to avoid litigation action against me and that I had only 48 hours to respond. I suspected it was a scam and decided to check it out first. Thank goodness I did. Once these people get you to call back, they have a valid number to keep calling you at. My friend fell for this scam 2 years ago and had to change her number 4 times before they stopped harassing her. Beware!!!

Collection Agency with extremely bad tactics. They are calling family members and threatening with legal actions for a debt they will not even give proof of! I got the call also and called back 3 times, first person told me there were in the District Court in District of Columbia, 2nd person told me they were District Court in Texas, 3rd person told me they were District court in KY. When I asked them which district court # were they calling from, that is when they turned nasty, refused to tell me and one person told me to "look up the defination of litigation". I told her I have a different word she needs to look up and she also needs to look up the RULES for FDCPA ((Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and when I told them to please hold while I TRANSFER THEM TO MY LOCAL COURTHOUSE, where they could go ahead and file, they hung up. I just blocked the #.
They are bottom feeding scum who are using fear tactics (ILLEGAL) and misrepresentation (ILLEGAL) to try to get people to pay for what may or may not be their debt.
Bottom line.................report them to the BBB and Even the FTC had a bulletin on the Global scam so report them again to the FTC for every phone call they make to you, DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE, MAKE THEM LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE, then let the FTC know you have the recording saved.

REAL lawyers just get on with it and file. Never engage them in conversation............just block, make them leave a messsage and slam the FTC website with complaints.

Got a message from "James Howard" supposedly representing "district court arbitration".   He said we'd have to call within 48 hours or the complaint will be filed against us.    The case number 417858.   The call back telephone was 888 347 2365.  This is clearly a scam meant to extort us.

Congratulations Mr. Howard!  You have contacted a Federal Agency.  As I am sending you this memo, Federal Warrants are being issued.  Your organization has been placed on our Terror Watch List, authorizing our investigative and warrants division the use of deadly force to bring your organization to Justice. We intend to process this case as an act of terrorism to allow us the maximum latitude beyond the extent of normal law.  Shoot to kill orders have been issued in order to save the government the expense of any trials.

They called me 3 times before I returned their call. The lady who answered didn't need my reference number. She said this was in reference to a claim against social security number ----. "Are those the last 4 digits of your social?"  I replied, "No."  She seemed confused and asked again.  I said, "No." Then she repeated an address I had never heard of before, which isn't even a street in our small town, and asked if I had ever lived at that address.  I asked her what city and state she was referring to and she hung up on me.

This number called, presumably, about one of my children's student loans. Well, they're all adults (two of whom just graduated from college last year) who no longer live with me and are struggling hard with just their daily expenses. Will they pay their loans? Yes. When? As soon as they're able. So I do not want them or my self bugged by a deceitful, high pressure, fear tactic using collection agency. So, thanks to this website, they are now blocked and all who gave their input have my great appreciation.

got a message from a James Howard and a case number when I called it back they had no record of this case number he said I will go to court for this matter if I didn't call him back in 48 hours. He ended his call by saying good luck.  then I looked this number up and found all this..

This number keeps calling my mothers house in SC. They threaten her and so on. Made her very upset.

Another recipient of a call from "James Howard" at 888-347-2365. I called the number and got the same message about high call volume, leave a message, etc. I've gotten calls before from debt collectors seeking payment from a person I don't know and who has never had my phone number nor lived at my address. I explain to them that I am not the person they're seeking, but it doesn't seem to matter: The dirtbags continue to call.

These really are some loathsome scum.
