When I answered 618-655-9961, I was given this number to call back.   When I did, the person on the other end did think they reached someone who owned this phone previously.  They asked if I could pass a message.  I said I might be able to, through a third party.  I took the name and number (this 888 number) and asked what it was about, and I was told it was a personal matter.  No company name was given at any time.  This leads me to believe it is a collection agency.

We have also been called by this number and a lady named Mary Coleman will not leave us alone.

I recently pulled my credit report to make sure that there was no substance to what she was saying, but she calls every day.

She says the name of her company is Credit Control.

Very unprofessional, called and left a very vague message on a Sunday afternoon.  She did not say anything about Credit Control, that was on my caller ID.  Good idea about pulling our credit report.

Received calls on a newly activated home phone.  I called the number back 888-365-7129.  A woman refused to give me any information other than she was calling on behalf of "Credit Control".  I asked for an address and she refused.  She refused to give me any more information unless I gave her a phone number.

I doubt this is a legitimate debt collector as they would probably have to begin any phone call with a recording that says something like "Federal Law requires us to inform you that we are a debt collector..."  

I strongly recommend against giving them any personal information.  If you get someone on the phone, ask them to send you something in writing.  Also, make a record of any calls you receive from them, include the date and time, and what was said.  

Check out your credit report.  You can get one free one per year at annualcreditreport.com.  If it looks like an organization has put something adverse on your credit report you should contact the original credit, the credit reporting agencies (Experian, etc.) and the debt collector and tell them (if appropriate) that you dispute the debt and you want them to reinvestigate it.

But, this Credit Control is fishy.  I found a Credit Control, LLC with an address at 1917 Boothe Circle, Suite 151, Longwood, FL 32750.  I'm not going to send them any correspondence at this point because I'M NOT SURE THIS IS THE SAME ORGANIZATION THAT IS MAKING THE CALLS and would like to confirm it first.    

Again, I recommend against giving them any information, but do check your credit report.  I'd love to hear more if anyone else has had any more experiences.

My daughter received a phone call on her cell phone from this Mike Wallace.  he was very rude and left a message for me to call him back.  I called to find out details and the woman who answered would not give any details as to who they were or what they were.  I am not going to call anymore since they are very vague in releasing information.

They can get away with calling you every day ONLY if you LET them.

The only way to stop them is to send them a Cease and Desist Letter VIA Certified Mail (with return receipt requested). If they continue calling after you have received proof that they signed for the letter, you collect
$1,000 PER violation.

I am responding to your constant phone calls! In accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I demand that you:

Stop calling me at home, at work, or any other location!

In accordance with federal law, once you've received this letter. you may only contact me to:

Provide proof that I owe this debt that you claim I owe;
Provide a copy of my State and Federal rights concerning this debt including how to dispute this debt;
Provide proof that you are licensed in my state, and provide me with your license number;
to advise me that further efforts are being terminated;
to notify me that you may invoke specified remedies;
to notify me that you intend to invoke a specified remedy.
Be advised that I am keeping accurate records of all correspondence concerning this issue, including recordings of your phone calls. If you continue harassing me, you will be in violation of the FDCPA, Section 805(c) --"Ceasing Collection Calls and Communication"

i get these calls several times a day ---- if i press "1" 'to speak to a representative', as they say, i get a fast busy signal.  if i call back the number, i either get a busy signal or a message saying that the 'mailbox is full and will not accept further messages'.  they are driving me nuts.  this will start at 8am on a sat, also.

My sister in law is staying with my husband and I.  We just started getting these calls from this guy from "CCI" named Winston at extension 2134 about 1 week ago.  I don't know who this guy is.  He just says for her to call him back.  I spoke to him once and he said that she would know what it is about.  Reading these posts I don't know if this is legit.  This guy is starting to call numerous times a day and every day.  I tried dialing the number and just got a recording saying it was CCI but not what it was.  Thanks for the data on the cease and desist letter!!

I receive calls every day, My husband receives them at work, are neighbors are getting them leaving messages, stating they "lost" our number.  It is a collection agency, however they will not put anything in writing.  At this point all they want is money without providing details and think that they can strong arm you in to just paying their amounts.

This company started calling my mother in law..BIG MISTAKE i will be suing them and would love for everyone to get in on these fools..

I just heard from these guys over the past few days via "Lola Martinez".  They wanted me to go deliver a message to a neighbor...  These guys are definitely a fishy operation.  I've never been called before to find a neighbor for a collection agency.  I'd swear it's not legal... but I can't find much on it.  I thought it was illegal unless they didn't know how to contact the person... but since they gave me this person's exact address, that would mean they know how to contact this person... right?
Anyway I called and had a few choice words for some of the individuals there.

By the way, while the HQ for CCS-Credit Control Services is in Mass, they have assault offices all over the U.S. and you may have received a call from any one of them depending on your geo-location.

I received a call from Lola Martinez also. She said that she was calling from Illinois for an important business matter for my next door neighbor. Lola claimed that my neighbor must be having phone troubles and really needed to speak with her.

I receive calls daily from these people but since I have caller ID , i do not answer them . They will let it ring and ring etc.... Very Harrassing.

asked for Manuel + spanish last name that I do not recall. Lady identified herself as Noel Smith from Benld Illinois and identified the company as credit control. She verified my number. When I told her there was no one here by that name, she said that someone was playing a joke and she said that she removed the information out of her computer. The company, she said, is located in Glenn Carbon Illinois. I too, had to follow up by pressing "1" (I think) upon receiving the call.

Im honestly getting sick of this myself, they are calling me like 8 times a day and attempting to run out my minute phone.. i just got this thing and i have no idea why they are calling me---then even though the information on this website is helpful, it doesn't say exactly where to report phone harassments. o_o;;

They are also calling under the number (no number) somehow... is that possible?

Honestly we are trying to pay back most creditors but this one is so rude and vague.  He said he would turn me in to my supervisor for me getting in the way of helping my husband.  Obviously they had no idea that I was his wife and we own the company.  

Anyway my questions-
How can you send them a letter if they wont tell you why they are calling- what information about yourself do you need to put on the letter?

I cant reference a specific account because they are so vague.
