- Frances Hoffman| 8 replieson 4/23 @ 9:30am my home phone rang. Unknown Name 888-382-1222 was on the caller I.D. I answered, "hello" only to hear the oddest recording ever. A female automated voice said, "Sorry, my mistake" and the line disconnected.
Curious, I googled the number only to find that the government agency I registered my home phone number with, to govern and investigate any misuse of do not call violations is calling my registered number. Why would a response to an answered phone be a recorded message "Sorry, my mistake."? What did they expect when they dialed my number?
I registered my home phone with the National Do Not Call along with my families cell phone numbers about a year ago. When I checked on the site to verify phone numbers were registered, I got an e-mail stating they were not. I have verification of the registry one year ago.- Caller: National Do Not Call registry

If you don't trust the link, google Federal Trade Commission and on the search menu and search Do Not Call Report Fraud.
