Received a call from "Joe" on 6/17/2008 on my answering machine. Called the number and got the answering service. Looked "Eboost Media" up on the web and it is a scam involving a supposed trial period of internet marketing. What I've read from others is they start automatically withdrawing $258.00/month and there seems to be no way of communicating with them to stop it.
They called me and offered to get me on the first page of every Google or Yahoo search including my chosen ten key phrases. There is a $99 set up fee and then it's $159 a month after that assuming I keep the service. They were unable to get my web rankings high enough and kept putting me off saying they would get there eventually. They lied to me about only allowing one person in the industry per city - another person in my field and town is also advertising with them. They also made up a fake review to try to boost my rankings. If anyone notices that I have a fake review up there it could ruin my reputation! Fortunately they have not charged me any more than the set up fee. If they do, they will hear from my attorney!
Google "eBoost Media" and "Rogier" and you'll find all you need to know about this company. You can also search Boing Boing and Consumerist for their take on eBoost Media, and lots of enlightening comments from readers.
Yes, just google "eboost media". As of now the first reference to their OWN COMPANY is on page 3 of google results. The rest? Stories about their crank calls and scamming.
Check out ripoff report for a very entertaining exchange. The customer service reps are so obnoxious that they don't even try to pretend to care about customers. All you need to know.
Consumers, Please note: The Better Business Bureau has now lowered eBoost Media's rating to an F!
"We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.
