Claimed to be from the IRS, yet another "call us back or get arrested" message on my voicemail. Very heavy Indian accent, lots of noise in the background like a call center. This is the 3rd number they've called from now. The others are (202) 864-1319 and (202) 864-1329. At least she said "have a nice day" at the end of the message.

I've received 3 calls from this number.  Very heavy Indian accent.  Demanded to talk to a party he indicated by name.  Couldn't even pronounce the name. (That person happens to be my mother who died 3 years ago).  I asked him why he needed to talk to her.  He said it was about a lawsuit with the IRS.  Then he abruptly and rudely demanded to know who I was and informed me that this was none of my business and demanded again to talk to the party he was calling.  I told him he needed a new scam and hung up on him.

The next time he calls I'll play along with him to see how far he takes it.

A voice message from an Indian accented guy calling himself, Melvin called on 8/12/14 at 10:10 am said that he was calling from the Debt Department of the Internal Revenue Service. He said that he had received a legal petition that we were being charged with tax evasion and tax fraud and that they are putting out a warrant for our arrest and to please call him back at 1-888-393-2421. At the end of the call he said "thank you and have a good day"..... I reported this to the Do Not Call Registry as well as our local town policy department.

This is the 3rd number I have received these calls from.  If I asked a question I was threatened with immediate arrest or I was told I was insulting and the IRS doesn't take this behavior lightly.  The comments above also apply.

The call is NOT from the IRS but a scammer in a foreign country (India. Pakistan).  The IRS mails information if there is a problem.

No need to return the call.

Well good old Melvin from the IRS called again on a new phone number.  Thank goodness for the  phone number blocker on our Panasonic.

Got several messages from 888-393-2421 from a heavily Indian accented male claiming he's a debt collector from the IRS. Some people fall for these "intimidating" calls, unfortunately. The IRS never contacts you such a manner. So many scams out there. So sad.

Caller left a message this morning, 8/18.  He had an accent and identified himself as Melvin Beckett from the IRS.  He said I'd been accused of tax evasion and tax fraud and that the IRS was about to issue a warrant for my arrest.  "But before we do anything like that," he said, I could call 888-393-2421.

The same telephone number and person named Melvin called and left a message just like the ones below.  Identical rhetoric.  This guy even gave the phone number twice and the first time used 888 393 3421, and before hanging up used 888 393 2421.   These scams are as terrible as they are hysterical.  How do people come up with these things????

Received a very threatening call from this phone number. Threatened to seize my personal property, send the Sheriffs Department to arrest me, seize my bank accounts under the pretense that he was from the IRS attempted to collect $5,839,00 for what he said was "a willing act to fraud the IRS". He demanded that I "not hang up the phone" because the phone call was being recorded and I would be prosecuted if I did not resolve this issue within 8 hours.

Heavily accented message which it was hard to completely understand. Something about IRS, and "illegal transaction", and that they were preparing to issue an arrest warrant in my name. The call didn't sound right, but the mention of "arrest" does tend to get one's attention. I did a google search for the number 1-888-393-2421, and found this web page. Thanks to everyone who listed their experiences, so that I could find this in a search. I almost called back just to see what I would hear, but remembered something about certain types of calls that can be very profitable for the recipients' billing services, and didn't know if an 888 number could be manipulated in this manner, so I decided not to call after all.

Received the same threatening message from Melvin on my cell phone. I called from my work phone and someone answered "IRS" and I stated "This isn't the IRS; this is a scam" and was immediately hung up on. DARN!
