I keep getting calls from this number...and if they are some kind of collection agency, why are they so vague and not sending something through the mail????  If I answer the call I am told to press some number to get my message, don't they talk to people...I am just going to ignore it.

me and my wife never got acall but there was a call made to my mothers house and theere was a message to my wife from them say, that she had to call back right away asap. and before they called my mother they called my brother in-law in alberta and told them the same thing as they told my mother. i think all of us that had this call coming to us should all leave a message telling them to give with the bull and leave people alone.

I have been received alot of phonecalls for the past three weeks asking for a certain female name and need me to call them back asap and this is an urgent business matter.  How in the world, do I get rid of them? I phoned back and left a msg and thretened them that I'm part of the national do not call list registry.  They phoned me back with the exact same msg.  What do I do now?

I put a voice message (could not get the person!); they called back again, wanted to talk with my family member re. the reference number - he mentioned that the details can not be shared with me. I got a call today, missed it and i called back. Even asked for the extension number that was left on my voice mail.  Everytime i called, i was forwarded to a voice mail and told to leave a message.  No return call as of yet.  Before i agree to anything, i want it on paper, to see where they have it as me being the one that is responsible for what ever debt is owed to them.  Never heard of them before, from what i have been reading on this sight, seems a little weird.

Like Steve, I thought they were calling from 'DNA' for some kind of paternaty test for the girlfriend.  Was VERY relieved to see these other posts.  the number they called from was 905-507-1147

this is D & A Corporation they are a collection agency.

I have had them trying to call me for 3 months over a Telus account I owed less than $150 on and that ended up being paid.

They will NEVER say who their company is and they always say something like "this is a business matter that needs resolved"  or "call me back before this issue escalated any further"

What they don't say is what the issue is and what their company is.

More than likely if they are calling you, then you owe money to a company.

It is your right to ask for all of the information, and to have them send you an official collection notice (They do that first, so if they're calling you already got the notice and ignored it)

If it's over something you paid ages ago, call the company they are collecting for and demnad a manager saying that they sent a collection agency after you for no reason and you want this resolved or else you will have them charged with harassment (the company you 'owe' and the collection agency)


Collection agents don't give one damn about you and your situation.  And all these morons on the phone know is they are supposed to harass you until you remit a payment.

What you might not know is that they actually are not allowed to harass you by law, and if you were ever taken to court... they'll say they called tons of times, all you say is you thought it was a telemarketer because in their messaages they never stated their company, nor what they were calling about.

I just got a call from these jokers as well. Half prerecorded message from an unpleasant self-important male with very little education, half computerised voice.

Primus left me with broken service for six months until I finally had to cancel.

Think this is the issue.

They also gave 905 568 6883 as a return telephone number.

As they cannot get the name right they will not get a call back.  most irritating waste of my time. There ought to be a law...wait there is one.

More than likely they are calling you because you owe somebody money.

Here is what you do, CALL THEM and find out what the hell they want.

Collection agencies are full of people who don't really care and more than likely the best part of their low paying job is scaring you.

They, under LAW  CAN NOT  call any family members.  If your employer tells them not to call your work they are not allowed.  If you tell them to stop calling they MUST, although if you DO owe money they will go to court and a judge WILL find in their favour.

You need to just talk to them, find out what they want and say you'll call them back.

OR tel them to stop calling and that you want a letter of collection sent to you detailing who and what you owe.

If you don't call back, they will never stop.

Got a call from Mr Kattan at my work from D&A Agencies - I have 24 business hours to call back regarding a reference # or the matter will be escalated. No idea what it is about! I think it's kind of strange. I will call him back though. He had very poor English.

Someone called my work and left messages for me to call D & A collection corporation # 905507 1147 ext 202.I have endlessly tried and there is no one by the name that I was given in the office directory and the extention I was given does not work. Is this a joke? If it is,it is not funny to me.

As funny as these posts are.....why would a paternity test be needed? Get it? SNAP!

Got a call from "joey watson" asking for my son.  I told him my son is only 15 years old and what is this regarding since he was in school.  Mr. Joey Watson replied very snarly that this is a private business matter and can only be discussed with my son.  He was extremeley rude.  Left the number 1-888-396-1147 ext,6253.  I called him back later very upset and thinking what kind of private business is my son gotten himself in to.  Left him a message stating that I am prepared to pass his name and number along to my lawyer and have him handle it.  Thank you so much for your posts.  Now I have better understanding of what I am dealing with

i recieved a call today from this 18883951147 #. turns out to b a collections agency working for bell. to clarify the info the collector was providing me was truthful and not some scam, i did some searching online and came across this blog. reading some of these stories, i thought i would try and clarify some questions that some of you r asking.

in no way shape or form am i trying to defend d&a or any collections agency for that matter. it is just i use to be a collections officer in my younger days, so i am familiar with the collections act of canada. thia is basically to assist some of the questions that are being asked.

1) collections agencies r not allowed by law to disclose the reason for their call, unless it is determined the person their calling for, is the person their speaking to. that is why agencies use names that seem odd, as to make messages left with people or on voiemail seem like their urgent and need to be called back right away. by law they cannot let for ex. my wife know the reason for the call, because she is not the person whos name is on their file, that was provided to them by the client in this case bell. so i hope that was able to answer that.

if they do call n e friends or family it is because the # that was provided to them is most likely not in service. they are not breaking the law as they are not disclosing the reason why they r calling but just asking them to pass you a message. the is a perfect example of the strange company names. d&a sounds like something to do with blood testing. if the person they left the message with chooses to call in and realizes its a collections agency and notifies you of this, it is that person breaking the law as they r the ones that invaded your privacy not the agency.

when finally getting to speak with the collector, you cannot say they r harassing u unless they call u 10 times a week without your permission. the collections act states they r allowed to call 3 times within a 7 day period. so be wise because these people are not dumb and r well trained with the laws of the collections act. each province and territory act are similiar but thet do have some differences.

in ontario they r allowed to call beginning at 7am up until 9pm monday through saturday. they can even call sunday from 1pm to 5pm i believe. if you notify them not to call you n e more you must provide the agency a written letter by registered mail in order for them to stop. if you say to them to call your lawyer the same process must be completed.

above all people if you wish not to deal with collections agencies and the headaches they produce, dont let yourself get there.

you can find your rights and what is allowed by reading your provinces collection act. all the info u need can be found online.

These guys called me too! For a gas bill. I called back & referred them to my credit councilors because it was paid through the program, which is done now. I wasn't suspicious until I called back for details: they said the debt relates to a final metre read in 2005. I confronted them with "Why would a gas company do a metre read on an account closed for 4 yrs? I asked for everything they have in writing, their reply is they don't have anything, they just downloaded my file and saw a balance to collect(the acct# they gave me is not mine). The guy then said "I could send a collection letter-oh,wait, sorry, no I can't there is a note here that I can't send any collection notices because there is an investigation." He would not say WHO is being investigated-is it the gas company, is it me or is it Them? I am inclined to believe the latter after seeing this site. Thank you for this messageboard! the national do not call list is for telemarketing and sales calls not for collections calls.

i also got a call from Mr. Joey Watkins ext 6253 he was calling in regards to my outstanding telephone account and was just following up on a monthly payment scheduale, really nice sounding guy, although he did leave several messages for me and called and reached my brother he never did discuss my private business with my brother and i thank him for that.
i think these people at D & A do a really good job.
