- bernie| 1 replyThis person with an indian accent called and told me to hold down the windows key and hold down the letter r at the same time. Then he told me to type the letters "eventsvwr". I did not do it. He said he was calling to find out if I had any "infections" on my computer. I think he meant viruses. I recorded the call while I was talking to him and I hung up.

- Linda L.I got a phone call also on Friday around 4:00 pm from a very heavy indian accent man and asked me if my computer was running slow or sometimes freezes up. He told me he was from Microsoft and asked me several questions. I didn't trust this person and played along until he wanted me to let a tech go into my computer and told me there would be a small fee. I asked what the fee would be and he said maximum would be $47 depending on the problems with my computer. I told him I didn't have any funds to do this fix right now and would call him back. He said he could talk to his manager and try to get an adjustment to lower the fee amount. It just sounded like a scam.

- tiredguyReceived a call from this telephone number at 2:52 p.m. today.
Since I no longer answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, or
at least have a subscriber associated with it, I didn't answer.
I did though, immediately run the number and came up with this site
and several others.
I have received too many of these "scam' calls to be bothered answering anymore.- Caller: Scammers?
- MMI received this call today. I was sceptical when caller with heavy Indian accent said he knows my computer has a problem because they they could tell from my computer registry keys. He talked very fast and in a serious urgent matter. He wanted me to press and hold down the windows key and tell him what displayed on my screen. He also wanted me to press and hold control and 'r'. I told him I was not going to do that until I verified who he worked for and his company phone number. he gave me the number 1-888-408-4117 and company name E Solvent and his name Ricky Parker. Without giving me an opportunity to hang up and dial the number he launced right back into his urgent script of having me press keys on my computer. He never said he was with Microsoft. I was onto him from the very beginning of his sales pitch about his company knowing my computer was having problems. I just wanted to get more info from him in order to contact my state attorney general "do not call" department. I did speak with a state investigator and she verified that this is a scam. The caller tries to obtain control of your computer by having you press keys and type in a command. Which is what I thought was going to happen if I followed his directions. I am worried that an unsuspecting person will do just that because their call does sound very legit if you are unfamiliar with computers and how they operate.

- ThommieSame people just called my mom trying to get her to follow their instructions. She is new to the online world and HAS been having problems, but she was smart enough not to fall for their line without checking it out with other people. Don't fall for their nonsense and warn your older relatives.

- Gloria JacksonA guy with a thick Indian accent just called and said he was calling because I was a Windows
customers and they had detected I have a problem. He wanted me to get to my computer, but
I told him I couldn't get up right now because of a bad leg. I said I would like to call him later. He said
he would instead call me later. I asked for information about his company and he said E Solvent
and that if I didn't have the issue corrected, I'd have even more serious problems including a
virus, which could shut down my computer. I told him I have a service company that can detect and
correct any problems I had, but he got persistent and said it was a Microsoft issue that his
company is authorized to fix. Finally, I asked again for a number to get
back to him on and he said 1-888-408-4117 and to ask for VIctor. After googling this 888 number, I
was directed to this page and am glad I was wise enough to just terminate the call. This is
a scam.- Caller: E Solvent
