called a friend about deceased father in law. The odd thing was that it was about a friends father in law, not even his. Left an extension to call as well 4062. Seems like a scam.

She was looking for someone that was responsible for the estate of XXXXXXX.  I have no idea of what she was calling about as I have had NO association with this person.

Looking for someone responsible for the estate of my late ex husband, but when I called them back they were already talking to someone else on another line regarding this same matter....really not sure how that got my info being that we have been divorced for over 7 years and he as been died for over 4 and I am remarried......

"Erica" left this number looking for someone who DIED 6 YEARS AGO! Since I just got this number, I called and said no one existed with that name and they left me alone. Play dumb and tell them this a new number.

A lady called and wanted to talk to someone handling the affairs of a person that I haven't spoke to in fifteen years. I told her I did not haver any contact with that family since they are also in another state. I found it all to be rather odd. I would like to know how they got my phone number!

Call from 1-888-420-2510 on a deceased family member. Inquiring above Representative for the estate. I was asked to verify his date of death that was in the newspaper. She had his last SS 4 digits. She stated that he owed Bank of America $1863.83. She can make an adjustment and reduce amount by 25% if I agree to settle bill now. When I refused, she offer to reduce bill by 50% at amount of $931.92. I stated I had no money. She wanted to know if I will agree to make payments. I asked her for proof that bill was owed. She stated bank had destroyed these records for privacy reason and offered to give me a Visa Number to verify bill. She stated that this call is being recorded. I told her she will have to send this in writing. She said okay she will send a letter to my address.

Received a call from "Valerie" at 888-420-2510 ext. 4065 requesting the representative of a deceased person.  Obviously a collection tactic.

This is a scavenger collection agency after anything they can get.  They called my daughter, asking who was the personal representative for my deceased brother in law.  He had one credit card that wasnt paid in full but the statue of limitations on it ran out 5 years ago, yet, they are still trying to scare somebody into paying it. Just ignore their calls.

Caller wanted to know if I knew my recently deceased nephew, when I asked who she was, she told me she was looking for a representative for his estate and the person responsible for his bills.  She then asked if that would be his wife and if I knew her name. I quickly told her I was an Aunt and would not be giving her any information, then told her not to call my home ever again.

Received a call from this scavenger company on my deceased grandmother's account. It was supposedly a $2000 debt on a credit card from 16 years ago! A total scam, preying on family members. Thanks to the comments on this site, I know to ignore the scumballs.

I received a call from this number looking for a relative. The caller identified herself as Valerie with Ascension Point. I was surprised they were looking for him here because I just moved to this state 5 months ago and my relative does not even live in this state. When I asked about the nature of the call she said it was a personal matter. Then I researched the company on the internet and happened upon this page. Now I know it was a collection agency. Thank you!

received a message about a deceased family member. It was strange because today marks the 20th year of his passing (not sure if it was the Jr of Sr) The Jr died about 7 years ago. I have nothing to do with their financial status I was a minor at the time of the SR's death, This is very sick they should have their own insurance for debt recovery or something.I have no connection with the wives of these two members and do not want to talk to anyone. I have enough of my own bills

I am glad that I came across this website and did further research. Most of these debt collectors will not tell you that you are not responsible for the debt instead they prey on your guilt to get you to pay!! This call really bothered me. How do I know what my loved one owed or did not owe. This has scam written all over it. to contact me years and I mean years later......................

Call from a woman who didn't immediately identify herself or her company.  She said that she was calling about a relative who died last year - but named the wrong relative.  She had the name of a relative who is still very much alive, and then asked if I knew "the late XXXXX."  Very creepy, completely threw me off guard.  I didn't give her any other information to go on, but I'm very glad I found this site to verify that this was just a scammer.  Thanks, 800notes.

BEWARE - 888-420-2510 belongs to Ascension Point and they try to collect money from the estates/relatives of deceased people for credit card accounts that are delinquent. The account they call about may be a valid delinquent account, but most likely does not belong to the person who is deceased. They use the probate filings to find relatives of deceased individuals and prey on your sympathy to get money for a debt that doesn't belong to your relative.  They tried this with me, had a valid acct that was sold by Bank of America to a collection agency 10 years ago. BOA cannot identify who the account holder was, only who they sold the account to.  I told Ascension POint they were scaming me, but if they were legitimate to contact our attorney, gave them his name and number and told them to contact him about resolving the debt. Also, told them to send me and our attorney a copy of every letter sent to my mother, and all documentation on the matter.
