Just recieved a letter from National Credit Assistance, LLC.
Looks like a scam.. letter is made to look like it was issued by the government.. going as far as referencing the following on the outside of the letter: "TITLE 18, SECTION 1702 - US Code Obstruction of US Mail is punishable by fines of up to $2000 or 5-years in prison or both."
(funny that it doesn't mention what the penalty is for pretending to be or have an affiliation with the "National Council for Consumer Debt Relief" - does this really exist? The council's emblem on the letter head actually uses the same Eagle & Shield image that appears on the US Presidental Seal).
The letter is titled "Notice to NC DEBT HOLDERS" and claims that anyone with over $10,000 in unsecured debt may qualify to settle their monthly debt payments by up to 50%. It also states that in order to qualify for this "assistance", the debt holder must live in a NDR (National Debt Relief) qualifying area.
The letter goes on to say..
"As a result of direct negotiations with your creditors, and by completely eliminating 50-70% of your outstanding unsecured debt, we can reduce your monthly payments up to a half."
Here is the phone number and office hours that was listed in this letter...

Hey NC guy.  Just because the letter looks very official doesnt mean the company is a fraud.  Of course companies are going to do what they can do drum up business in a very competitive market.  Have you ever taken a marketing class?  Have you ever owned your own company and had to fight for business.  What would your ideal debt settlement letter look like?

I don't think they are accredited with the BBB (better business Bureau).

(http://www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/d ... ago-il-88361900) and this quote from that page, "The BBB has requested basic information from this company. The BBB has not received a response."

Ummmm... Kings9: "Not Accredited" just means they haven't paid to be a member of the BBB! They have an "A" rating. Don't put out information you have no idea about.
