- Emilie| 1 replyI answered and they said this is the company that fixed your computer the last time. I never have my computer fixed my Dad is an IT so I don't need that service. They said well this is just a courtesy call regarding the service and then asked me for my IP address, so I hung up.

- SharonThey just called me and I have an unlisted number. Told me that I had used Geek Computer Repair years ago and that they have noticed that my computer network has been broken into and that they wanted to take control of my computer to make sure that all was fine. Foreign voice. I said no and he asked me when he could call me back. I said 5:00. He said it had to be 4 since his shift ended at 5. I hung up. The clincher is that years ago I did use Geek. Has this group of scammer purchase Geek's records, etc. Scary !!

- FEDUP| 2 repliesCalled the GEEK SQUAD number to report.....THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS SCAM and have escalated investigation ...Former "Bell" employee (now Geek Squad employee) was my adviser....fully conversant on scams....recommended reporting to BBB (Better Business Bureau and local police who track these fraudsters)
- Caller: Avec Vous
- Call type: Prank
- Slim replies to FEDUP| 1 replyAre you SURE you spoke with the real Geek Squad?
After all, the BBB has absolutely NO enforcement powers, and phone fraud is usually outside local law enforcement purview.
Your best defense is education -- be aware that such scams exist, and protect yourself against them! - Jenny Schout| 1 replyI have gotten multiple calls from multiple different numbers that claim something is wrong with my network and they just KEEP calling. I have blocked multiple numbers and have asked them to stop calling but they refuse. I am getting very angry and would like to know how I get my number off their list so they STOP calling me!

- PeterGot a call from this number, woman with Indian accent, saying that my network has been broken into and there are multiple people from all sorts of countries trying to use my computer. Wanted to connect to my computer remotely. No way that's gonna happen when someone I don't know calls me "trying to help" This is clearly a scam to suck data off my computer. I couldn't make out the name of the company she said she was calling from, but I doubt its a real company.

- Cat replies to EmilieThis number kept showing up on my caller I'd every day. They called twice today so I picked up. They said my computer was hacked and they need to get into it. I said my computer is fine stop calling here. This foreign lady called two more times, ended in a screaming match and I told her I was reporting her. Company name on the caller I'd was AVEC VOUS
- MMThis group has called numerous times over the last 4 months, often coming up as 'unknown'. Very hard to understand with strongly accented English and lots of background noise. Want to fix my computer and claim I have used their services in the past - which I haven't. I have told them firmly not to call anymore but they continue to call my number.

If anyone discovers more information please add it and repost where needed. The sooner we are aware of these monsters the better. We all have solicitors and these people are notoriously persistent. Sometimes calling people 10-15 times in a row. Hopefully, the FTC or some other government agency will get this info and start and inquiry and stop these solicitors from calling us all.- Caller: AVEC VOUS

- Davidar0Another call claiming to be "Windows Tech Support" and that there was a problem with licensing. Put them off, and asked them to call back in an hour, which they did - this time claiming there was a network attack in progress. They first wanted to use the "TeamBuilder" remote access/control service, which we refused to do. They then were willing to 'talk us through' steps to fix the alleged attack. First step was to run "netstat" from a command prompt which was to allegedly prove there were Foreign Addresses attacking the computer (there are always a few random foreign addresses pinging firewall ports). They then had the program "syskey" launched which opens the SAM Lock Tool (which accesses Windows Security Database, etc.) and to enable the password "z123". At some point Windows rebooted and came up in a Critical Error state and tried to Restore itself to a previous state. Meanwhile the guy passed the call to "his supervisor" who was even more adamant in his instructions, to whit, to shut down the machine before the Restore finished, then turn it back on. At this point Windows would not boot up at all (no monitor signal, no keyboard lights).. He then claimed THEY were having a network problem on their end, and to call him right back at 888-414-9821 and to ask for 'Erick', and then hung up. At this point, we pulled out our network connection & disabled Wifi, and Windows eventually fixed itself. They called back repeatedly from 888-441-9603 until we blocked the number unanswered. I suggest you be very careful with these guys as anyone can say any words making any claim without any evidence of truthfulness. It's suspected they try to infiltrate machines while in vulnerable unprotected states, and could have indeed been one of those "Foreign Addresses" waiting to slip through the firewall...

- RETIRED MARINEJust upgraded yesterday to new Norton and they warned me I would receive phone calls telling me I had been hacked and they needed to take over my computer. Norton said to be rough with them and hang up. I did. Used to work in a federal office that dealt with this kind of thing, and this is certainly an overseas scam. Sounds Indian or Phillipine, maybe [***].

- ReevesThese people call every day, all day, sometimes seven times in a row. Sometimes they don't even say anything but mostly they claim to have fixed my computer once before and want to warn me of some problem. I usually just hang up, but they call again and again. I have told them they were scammers and harassers. I am on a do-not-call list. Please leave me alone!

- Annoyed!I have received multiple phone calls a day from this company saying that they need to fix my computer, I usually never pick up. Today I finally picked up and said please please stop calling me I will never need IT support from you, please remove me from your list. The guy responded "I will never stop calling you because I love you". Talk about creepy!!!!! I'll be reporting this number to the police.
