Nobody there when I answered. Said hello and waited. The call hung up after a few seconds. When I called back I was given the option to have my number removed from their list so I did that.

Same deal here.  Nobody there.  Unless that same number keeps calling I wouldn't phone back.  They may just be checking legit numbers.

just got a call from this number - noone there, but just over an hour later (at suppertime) I got a call from a fundraiser. Perhaps this is a 'pre-call' from a computer to check you are in before a person calls to try to get you to part with your money.

Just got a call too. Called the number back and did the remove number thing. It keeps saying "fax number" so I think the silence upon answering is because it's waiting for a fax tone.

This is an unattended? automated system, usually always silent. recalls relentlessly. several times a week and sometimes daly.  If you call answers hangs up, may have heard a fax type ansewr once.

SOB machine finally andwserred with voice propms

press 1 for attentent, then transferred to voice mail , prompted voicemail full bye.
second attempt pushed 2 to have number removed from list???????
