left no msg.  Called the number back and it is Verizon Wireless.

I also just got a call from this number and they left no message. Don't know what they want or who they are. Use caution, if you don't know the number don't answer it!

What did they want???

Just called Verizon Wireless from my home phone and asked about this 888 number. I told them I was not calling it as you never know if someone is just looking to see if it is a live number. They called it and she told me it is a toll free number but you DO get charged minutes. She stayed on hold and called me back to let me know that what they are doing is letting you know you are eligable for a new phone. I thanked her for checking it out for me as now a days you just never know. Why they don't leave a message, who knows.. But at least we know what they want and who it is.

Got a call but no message was left.  I am a Verizon customer however and based off these previous notes it's most likely some promotional message from Verizon

I received this call originally a month ago.  I would not give them my SSN to verify my identity and presumed it was a hoax.  However, I received a call just a moment ago.  This time it was legitimate (and no they didn't ask for SSN).  It appears to be a group contracted by Verizon to promote their incentives (they were asking if I'd be interested in an early upgrade).

got a call again from them!! i spoke with someone there last week, when they called, and told them to get me off their list. i've reported them to the do not call list and told the woman i did so.

what the hell is wrong with these people and how can they get away with these non-stop calls??

This number is a verizon wirless solicitation call.  It does use your minutes.  They want you to upgrade your services and review your account information.

they keep calling and leaving no message.  Quite annoying to be called at work.

This is Verizon Wireless - They call everyday, several times a day, at all hours.  They do not leave messages.  I don't answer these types of numbers I do not know - but I called it back this time and it is a Verizon Wireless solicitation.  And my phone number is on the do-not-call list!  How can this be happening?  Why does the government bother with the do-not-call list when they dont enforce it?  More genuises in our gov't. was tax dollars for a service that does not work.  Rename it the "DOES-NOT-WORK" LIST!!!!!!!!!!

GAR - The Do-Not-Call list only applies to companies you have not done business with.  Once you have a "business relationship" (ie. money has changed hands), they can call you with no regard to the Do-Not-Call list.

You can still ask them to stop or to remove you from their call list.  They're required to comply.

A friendly courtesy call from Verizon informing me I am eligible to upgrade my telephone equipment for free.  I was not interested however, and she told me to have a nice day and we parted peacefully.

A "freindly courtesy call"???? If they were courteous, they'd leave you alone! I've had seven calls from this number in the last week, offering an "upgrade" for my phone. I told the woman who called that I was fed up witht he cost of Verizon and was looking for another company. Haven't had another call, but I'm still looking. Verizon has great commercials, but  lousy and high-priced service.
