- Call type: Unwanted
- Riccahet| 7 repliesITS A SCAM. IT IS NOT VERIZON WIRELESS!!
DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER!!!! 888-453-1922
They did a half-assed job at trying to mimmick VZW customer service.
The text message comes in informing you that you are nearing your Minute, Data, or Msg usage limit. Call for more info.
IF you want to talk to VZW. Always dial #611 from your cell phone.
The laxed word usage like "UR" instead of "Your" and "U" instead of "You" made me suspicious.
They ask your name and cell number then for your last 4 digits of your social security.
Now they have access to your VZW account and can then call VZW themselves and purchase a phone under you account and use it for further mischief.- Caller: Pretending to be Verizon Wireless

- Megan replies to RiccahetI got the same message: "Free VZW msg. UR on track 2 incur charges for Minute, Data, or Message usage. Call 888-453-1922 NOW for additional information," and knew it looked fishy right away. The 888 number didn't match anything on the VZW website, so I called their real customer service number and this is not a message or a number they use! Do not call it! Does anyone know who I can report this scam to?
- Gaby"Free VZW msg. UR on track 2 incur charges for Minute, Data, or Message usage. Call 888-453-1922 NOW for additional information,"
I got the same... do not call! - verizondude| 1 replyI got the same text message. I phoned them knowing it was probably a scam, some guy answered "hello?" then he asked me for my SSN. What a goofball.
- AlJust got the same text message from the same number above. Called the number on my landline and noticed a lot of background noise which told me this was not a call from a business like Verizon Wireless. Called VW to report this message and incident.
- Caller: No Company Name
- telco empl! DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE BACK OR GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION ! i work at a telecom company and we get subpoenas all the time from the Fed's and other justice related agencies about 800# scams. i had the same thing text-messaged on my phone today, already knew it's a scam. you wont' find anything about "incur charges for Minute, Data, or Message usage" on your verizon account, because it has nothing to do with verizon.
- Caller: pretending to be verizon wireless
- SEMerSame thing hit my phone today character for character. It even says it's a free VZW txt, which probably is also a lie.
- gregor_yMe too. Same details.
Boy we're smart people! But scammers know their percentages - I'm the 10th to post here within a couple weeks. That means 100s or even 1000s received this message. How many boneheads will call right back and give up their info? All it takes is a few to make it a profitable scam. - Not DumbJust happened to me too. Also have been recieving random calls from an 800 number that hangs up. I have an unlisted number. (The other number is 800-672-3014) wonder if there is a connection.
- MeTooGot the same one just now....I love google....type in a # and know who it is...or in this case isn't....definitely not Verizon.
- krmbluekGot the same message today. Didn't call back.
- Jenn| 2 repliesReceived text message saying:
"Free VZW msg. UR on track 2 incur charges for Minute, Data, or Message usage. Call 888-453-1922 NOW for additional information."
I called Verizon Wireless and got a rep that immediately said this sounds like a text message we send to let you know you are about to go over your usage. I said, "I think you should be asking what number the text message said I should call back to see if it's a Verizon Wireless number." The rep then asked the number. She called the number to make certain it was a valid number. It was. THIS IS NOT A SCAM.
I do agree the text spelling "UR" versus you are and "2" versus 2 seems unprofessional and suspect. I advised them to change the spelling. I also advised they include more useful information such as we have used x number of minutes of our plan and may go over.- Caller: Verizon Wireless
- Call type: Event reminder
- topazstarMine was the same text, but the number it came from is 900-070-004209. I haven't called Verizon yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a scam since I haven't sent anything and I have unlimited text messages, so I shouldn't be going over any limits.
- YaroslavVBI just got that message as well
- ayshasI just got a text that was the same
"Free VZW msg. UR on track 2 incur charges for Minute, Data, or Message usage. Call 888-453-1922 NOW for additional information."
That number is not registered to Verizon. I called the 800 number on the bill I get from them each month. The Verizon supervisor I talked to just said that it is not a valid number for their company.
When I called the 888 number from a landline, I got a completely different service. You don't have any of the menu options you do when you call the 800 number. You press star for Spanish. That's it.
If you call the 888 number it says they are Verizon wireless. I could set that up on my home phone just fine as well. It doesn't mean anything. If a rep for the company goes through the list of company phone numbers and the number you were told to call isn't on it, that's probably a good indication that they are not Verizon.
The thing that I am pondering is we've been bugging Verizon about this for a few weeks, colletively, and that fake company is still in operation with the same phone number. Scary scary. - GraysonI suggest people on here band together to fight back and hopefully STOP the people doing this:

Hopefully they'll get enough complaints to take care of whoever is sending the texts.
NOTE: They tried to scam me, I'm not a scammer... just an angry consumer who wants some revenge. - JNI got that very same "free" text message - and thought it sounded a bit phony, especially because I almost NEVER get close to my minutes limit - and even when I did, VZW did NOT text me anything. the only Text I get from VZW is when my bill is due.
- MattI got that exact same text. I thought it was sketchy so i checked google, thankfully someone started this thread
- DragontikaI got the same thing today during class.
Got it on Mon, April 14, at 2:14 on PST time zone.
Shouldn't Verizon try to do something to block this number or anything?
The number that text me was a little different.
it was 900070004527 instead.
But it told me to call 8884531922 just the same.
You can tell there was something fishy about it right away.- Caller: Scammer
