Rec'd recorded call at place of business with 6 incoming lines.   Message states "you have been named as a person of interest in an ongoing investigation.  You or your attorney must contact us immediately at 888-466-4383.  If you do not, a statement of wilful evasion will be filed.  If you are the person we are requesting to speak to, press 1.  If you are not, press 2."  I pressed 2 and the message repeated.  I hung up and tried to call the number, but it rang and rang and then rang busy/out of order.  What kind of stupid prank is this?  This smells of illegality.  Report to local police?

Glad I looked up this number and found these responses.  Had the same message and tried to call back.  Rang numerous times then sounded like a busy signal.

Got the same exact message from these people. I called the number they gave me, and it rang and rang until it disconnected. I called the number that they called me from (yay for caller id!) which was 888-463-7565. I got a person sounding like the same guy that called and left a message. He asked me for my name and phone number, I told him only my nickname, and when he asked me for my last name I told him I didn't feel comfortable answering that since I had no idea who he was or what this was pertaining to. He said it was an investigation most likely relating to a fraudulent check written, or I was a reference that somebody gave. I said he probably had the wrong number because I've received calls in the past looking for someone who I believe had the number before me. He also asked if I had taken out any payday loans, which I haven't. He kept repeating the same thing over and over again and said that I would be persecuted if it turns out I was the one they were looking for, but that he wouldn't be able to give me any more information since I wouldn't give him any information about myself other than my first name and my telephone number. He said he didn't have access to the information, and that another one of his associates called me. It sounded like him in the message, it was his phone number that I called back, and the number that he gave me obviously didn't work like for the people that commented previously. I told him that this call was very sketchy and that if they have my information on file they can send me more specific information in the mail. He kept trying to keep me on the phone by saying that I will be persecuted. I said I understand, goodbye while he was still talking. Honestly, this call was EXTREMELY sketchy since I gave him my phone number and he was unable to look up anything about my supposed "case". If this is a legitimate call, I'm sure that I'll be hearing more about this from another source (which I highly doubt I will). Until then, I'm just not going to worry about it.

I got the same exact call as Melissa.  I wasn't at first sure if it was a bill collector since I have no debts, but called at a later time and learned they were calling themselves B & G associates a debt collector.  It must be a scam since like I said I have no debts.  Very disturbing people they are.

I just read this experience but mine was identical, nearly word for word, the only difference was it was sent to my home and not business.  This is a scam.

I got the same call for an employee that works for the company I work for. Actually, they call at least twice a week and leave the message like the other ones that they have called. I called back, but got a woman that was a total [***] and said they couldn't remove the number as it follows the person in a national database. So, I kept calling her back!! and I am going to continue to call her back as her # is is going to follow here now!! Honestly, this is even about me or my credit, but these people are the scum of the earth....

They called at home and it went to voicemail. Same thing as everyone else. However on mine, I was able to prove its a re-recorded message.  The message started over again mid message.

Its not a live person.  Scammers.

Nice Kris!  It makes sense because on our message it sounded like they were already talking mid sentence when our answering machine started?  Our machine has a long beep so their recording began before the recording.  What an amateur bunch of BS this group is.

I received the same message and each time I called back ,like  most of you, it just rang. Im so glad I googled this number and saw all of your posts. I figured if I was a "Person of interest" I would get something in the mail. I do know someone who took a payday loan and am wondering if she put me as a reference. I would be sooo mad if so!

No legit case would obtain information this way and threaten you if you "turn out" to be the person they're looking for.  That doesn't even make sense.  I got the exact same message (which led me to google the number).  When something smells fishy, I never call the number back w/out searching online first.  Half the time, scammers only need you to call so they verify it's a working number (which is why the call-back number results in a disconnect).  They just need you to dial in from your phone.

DO NOT CALL THESE NUMBERS BACK!  I got the exact same message (which led me to google the number).  When something smells fishy, never call the number back w/out searching online first.  Half the time, scammers only need you to call in so they can verify it's a working number (which is why the call-back number results in a disconnect).  They just need you to dial in from your phone.

Some others have mentioned things that will tip you off that it's not legit:

    -  They don't mention your name
    -  They don't mention their org's name
    -  The message is often "cut-off" sounding at the beginning.  Now when has a legit company ever had a problem leaving a full message??

Same recorded call as above. These jokers have called us several times with their pre-recorded message! This time they said they were from the office of "Bowman and Gimenchy." I wish they would stop phoning! 1-888-466-4383

I got a call yesterday and they left a message saying the exact same thing as everyone else; Ongoing investgation in the office; Person of interest; me or my lawyer call them; etc. She said was from Bowman and Gambicci.  This morning I received a call and she left another message, the same message. It was the very same woman named Crystal on both messages. However, the second message she said she was with Pierce and Associates.

I got a call from Crystal at Pierce & Associates this morning.  I called back and she sounded like she was lying across her desk taking a nap.  LOL!  The number was the same as above....888-466-4383 and she left the ext. of 102.  The same message was left for me yesterday, interested party on an ongoing investigation...blah blah blah......she can go to H_ _ _!!!!!  I'm not calling back anymore.  Send me a letter IN THE MAIL with the DETAILS!!!!  Guys, don't worry yourself about that.  If it were anything dealing with the court system, they would not hesitate sending you a subpoena.  Seriously......They are full of sh*t and have nothing else to do but to harass people on the phone about something that they know nothing of.
