Rich - 22 Jul 2008I normaly hang up the phone with a choice expletive, but I listened to the person on the other end. It was concerning children's hospital's in your area and guality of service, adevertisements, blah, blah ( for me anyway). Being a nurse I thuoght I would talk to someone who would listen concerning childrens healthcare facilities. Nothing about my SSN, bank account or names of family members or anything freaky or questionable.

Rossi - 26 Mar 2008This call came on 3-24-08, a Monday @ 18:19 to Kansas. I did not answer and they left no message. Other sources advise they identified themselves as National Research Marketing Fund but were, of course, not selling anything.

Dale - 27 Mar 2008They have called the last 2 nights, answered both times and was hung up on both times. Tried calling the number back and was given a message that it was a marketing firm and they are hoping I will accapt the call the next time.

MN-DNC - 27 Mar 2008This company is in violation of the Do Not Call List. They have called three successive evenings, I picked up the phone the third night and when a person finally came on I provided the standard of "remove my name and number from your list and do not call." At that, the operator informed me that she was from Wilkins Research and not selling anything and ergo could call and further that "we don't subscribe to that list [the dnc]." I replied, astonished, "Excuse me?!" I continued to explain that this is a violation of FCC rules and that if she continued I would report this number to the FCC. I was told, "You go ahead! I'll just call again tomorrow night!" And then she slammed down the phone. I do want this company investigated and fined.

What about an established business relationship?
A telemarketer or seller may call a consumer with whom it has an established business relationship for up to 18 months after the consumer's last purchase, delivery, or payment - even if the consumer's number is on the National Do Not Call Registry. In addition, a company may call a consumer for up to three months after the consumer makes an inquiry or submits an application to the company. And if a consumer has given a company written permission, the company may call even if the consumer's number is on the National Do Not Call Registry.
One caveat: if a consumer asks a company not to call, the company may not call, even if there is an established business relationship. Indeed, a company may not call a consumer - regardless of whether the consumer's number is on the registry - if the consumer has asked to be put on the company's own do not call list.

RGRDC - 3 Jul 2008Hang up calls are considered harassment by communications in most states. I know in Pennsylvania it is illegal. If the “do not call list” will not help, contact your local phone company and tell them you are getting harassing hang up phone calls. They will give you a procedure to adhere to and if you do and the calls continue, the party involved will be charged and fined.

The Do Not Call List does nothing. I am on the list and I still get calls from numbers that I reported to them (like this one).
