My publishing company has a similar toll-free number to the one in question. Within the last couple of weeks, we have had individuals call and advise to remove names and numbers from the call list. The ones I actually spoke with indicated that the message advised to call an 800 number similar to my company's. A call received today indicated the calling company called themselves "CPCS" and they left the wrong number to call back. WOW, I just got another call asking if MY number was 888-480-5351 (which it is not). Hope these calls end soon cause most of the people on the other end are upset with the CPCS company. Sorry, don't know what CPCS stands for.

I recieved a call from this number from a guy named greg stating he needed to speak with my fiance. He wouldn't tell me who he was or why he was calling. All he would say is it is a personal matter and wouldn't tell me anything else. Shady. Yet he said if I was my fiance's wife or had stated I was he could have told me something. Wtf??

Number showed up on m caller id.

just called, right in the middle of doing electrical work so I didn't answer. Anyone of importance leaves a message, they didn't, so screw em.

888-488-5351  I believe it's actually CVCS.  If so, it would either be the the one near Wilkes-Barre, PA (570/331-8223), or the one in Palm Desert, CA (cvcollection.com).

The message I got also said "personal business".

I've received dozens of calls over the last several months from this number - all hang ups and caller ID always says 800 Service plus the phone number.  Today I had time to call the number back and Mary Elizabeth says the company is Credit Bureau Collection Services aka CBCS.  She said they were calling my number for someone whose name I did not recognize.  I told Mary Elizabeth to document the fact that they were calling a wrong number and after she told me she was tape recording the call, I told her I was doing the same, which was great because we'd both have documentation of the fact that they were advised on this date that they were harassing the wrong person, therefore if I ever got another call from them, I would be certain to file a claim against them for damages under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Since my last post of 7/22 when I told CBCS representative Mary Elizabeth that her company was calling the wrong person and to remove my phone number, they called again......on 7/23, 7/26, 7/27 and today 7/28.

I have received several calls from this number.  It rings once and then hangs up.  The one time I did answer it, I got a recorded message to "hold for the next available representative."  So I hung up! I figure if they want to talk to me bad enough, they'll call and not hang up...and maybe I will answer....probably not!

I have been getting these calls for several weeks now, the last of which was today (8/5/2010). They never leave a voicemail, and always wait a few days before calling back. I haven't ever spoken to anyone on the other end though...

Unwanted calls, new cell phone, have not given out my number. Did not answer.

Actually is CBCS. Their number is 1-888-413-0093. I have pressed 2 to indicate that the deadbeat they are hounding

who is tired of the complaints.  CVCS only does collections

Folks just doing their job.  CBCS on the other hand appears to
be a bunch of yahoo's. I'm thinking that talking to them will not get the desired results but I tried again tonight and talked to
a guy named Rafael. Had to give him my number 3 times.
Confidence of accomplishment is not high so if I get another call I'm going to have some fun and see how much of their corporate
resources I can waste.

Assh@les call me because I have the same last name - not first name of the person they are trying to reach. I think that's called phishing- at least get the same name (first and last) right fuc@heads!!!

CBCS has been calling me from this number since June asking for someone I don't know.  It's always a robot - never a live person.  I've called them back and told them they had the wrong person.  I've pushed the appropriate buttons on my keypad to let them know they're calling the wrong person.....and they keep calling.  I'm up to robo call #42 as of yesterday.

Apparently the One Million Ninety Five thousand dollar fine they paid in March of this year for "wrong person" robo calls was not enough of a deterrent because they are still at it.

It's a collection agency and that is why he could talk to you about details. If he had, your fiance would have had a good legal case against them.

Yup means they r payin their bbb membership at the same time they r shakin their victims down. pretty common actually. bbb is worthless.

Call em what you like, [***], scammers, [***], ect they are scammers in my book. Don't give any personal information, don't call them back, if by chance you pick up the phone don't say anything and see how long they stay on the line before they hang up!
