This is a heating and air conditioning (HVAC) company with offers to do home heating maintenance work for a bargain price of $49.95.  Represents itself as the Indoor Air Quality company.  Do not know its website or reputation.  Phone solicitations are persistent and aggressive.

Received a cold call from Indoor Air (888-499-2907) stating the last time they had serviced our furnace and air-conditioning units was in 2005 (which was about the time we switched over to another firm). The rep. from Indoor Air offered to clean the vents, power-vac all the ducts work, the dryer vent (from the wall all the way to the roof vent), look at the vent/duct in the bathroom, and do a complete "medical" check-up of the furnace and the air conditioner, as well as the thermostat, for the bargain price of $49.95! -this was all confirmed with a call back from a supervisor, along with the appointment date and time. Our current supplier/service company offered to a full maintenance check-up of the furnace and air-conditioner, for the price of $89.00 ea. This included cleaning all the vents, a "medical" check-up of the units. Check-up/up-date of the thermostat, a quote on the bathroom vent/duct-work, and a quote to power-vac all the duct-work; including the dryer vent -from the wall to the roof (they said the power-vac work can be costly as it involves a truck and large equipment -something Indoor never mentioned).
We received a phone call on the day of the appointment -a fast talking individual trying to tell us the service would cost us $99.00! We argued this sounded like a bait-and-switch operation, and the individual calmed down right away. It was very odd behavior to say the least.
I called the company to complain, and was told none of their technicians would/should make such phone calls. And then we were told the matter would be looked into.
This got us to thinking ...did Indoor even have a Contractor's License number? So we called back. We were then told "John" would have that information, to please call John at 855-542-7626. We spoke with John, and he said he'd call us back with that (the contractor's license # ) information. Interestingly ....he never called back. And there is nothing on the internet about Indoor (at 888-499-2907) excepting what I've found on cites like this one).
We called back and canceled our appointment. When asked the reason, our statement was "you don't have a contractor's license number". Their response was cold and fast; "...yes we do. You have a good day. Thank you, good bye".
We have yet to receive a call-back from John with "Indoor's" contractor's license number.  
When I called

I also received a call from Indoor Air Quality with the same spiel about the last time my HVAC was serviced. I was offered the same bargain price of $49.95 and decided to schedule an appointment. I received a call the evening prior to the scheduled appt but I wasn't home so a message was left on my answering machine. When I tried to call back, I listened to a recording that the number I dialed was no longer in service (888-499-2907). Very strange..... I tried again the next morning with the same results. My appt was scheduled from 11am - 1 pm so in the meantime, I checked out the internet.  I was unable to find anything on the internet about this company.
I received a call at 11:40 to confirm that I was still interested in the deal they were offerring. I mentioned the problem with the number and was told that they were having phone issues but were now resolved.  But by this time, I had already read the post above and decided to cancel.

My phone call went pretty much as described above. Additional details: The first guy told me his name was Brian Remington and gave me the phone number 888 499-2907 to reach him. The guy who confirmed the call said his name was Mike Riley. I am going to cancel because I cannot find their company online anywhere but here.

got the same call as the others here but this was probably the 7th call with others I turned away.  I don't know why I let this one talk but he was all set to give me the special price of $49.95 until he asked me how many thermostats I had.  When i said two, he proceeded to tell me the special pricing is "per thermostat" (why? I only have one heating/AC system); when I protested, he offered to give me an additional $39.99 per thermostat price.  so now I went from $50 to $80 for the job.  That may still be a good deal; I have seen ads for $75 cleaning by locals.  But after reading here, I think I'll cancel when the supervisor calls me.

Caller used the "we serviced your system in '05" line on me as well. When I was promised that the anti-freeze in my thermostat would be checked as part of the service, I just had to hear more.  I told the caller that I am a retired sheetmetal worker and had been in the HVAC business for 30 years, I couldn't help but be amused by her thermostat comment. Suddenly, our connection was lost.

If someone calls you and offers you something that seems "too good to be true", be wise and say no thank you.  Don't be rude or abusive to those trying to make a living.  And by the way, the "no call list"....where do you think the marketers are getting the numbers from????  Perhaps they're buying them from the "no call list"????   People are trying to make a living and jobs are hard to come by.  Just say "no thank you"  and hang up!!!!!   Telemarketers are getting abused everyday by people...and yes what they're doing isn't always reputable.   I know of marketers who have been called horrible names, just remember, this could be your son, daughter, wife, mother, etc doing this kind of work.  Would you speak to them disrespectfully?  I would hope not.  

This company is a total fraud! We had the same cold call about it being 3 years since we purchased our new furnace and was offered the 49.95 deal. Upon meeting the tech, Noah, who spoke very fast and was hard to understand, he opened our furnace and pulled out the filter and stated that he needed to check the duct under the house because a filter should never be as dirty as this one was in three years. Once he got under the house he proceeded to tell us that we needed a new duct and that he wanted to check the attic. Once he got a look in the attic he told us that all the ducts needed to be replaced and that they had asbestos. He said he couldn't do a cleaning of them but needed to replace them. Another thing that was suspicious was that he didn't have the right size filter for our furnace. This sent off a red flag because if HIS COMPANY had been the ones to replace our old furnace then he should have known what size was needed. We told him to write up a bid for what he thought needed to be done and we would discuss it as a family and get back to him. Then he was off to the dryer vent. He had us turn on the dryer and he said the vent was not connected and told us this was a fire hazard. We unfortunately fell for this. The tech said it was $375 to clean the vent and $100 to connect a new vent, which was that cheap foil wrapped vent material from Home Depot. Given how long the vent was we decided to go for that since he was here! How stupid we feel now! He also charged us $39.95 for a service call. He tried and tried to hard sell us on replacing all ducts, asbestos removal, etc for $5500 to $5600, then he dropped it to $5200 and eventually dropped it to $5000 if we made up our minds right then and if he could do it this week or next otherwise that price was out! Again, we told him we would have to think about it. He seemed huffy when he left. I knew something was very shady about this guy. Noah is a crook and we have him on our security cameras! By the way, he told us he would do all ducts in four hours, that he had a bunch of Guatemalans to help him...(probably illegals)! Upon calling the 888 number this morning it went to music and eventually went to a Jessica User voicemail! Please beware of this company as they are complete frauds!

Got the same call from Eric of "Indoor Air Quality", same phone number, same pitch.  Offered to take off $10 from the $49 "deal" since we don't have a working dryer for them to clean.  Dryer-vent cleaning is a legitimate issue, which few people take care of, so in that they're telling the truth.  The same question about "how many thermostats" was asked.  In the end, due to the helpful information posted here, I did not follow through with scheduling.  Thanks to all who have posted.

Just got the same call. My guy was "Richard Epps".  Told me my furnace was checked by them in 2009.  Since my husband passed away in 2012 and he handled all this, I told him I needed to check on the company. He gave me the 888-499-2907 number and I immediately googled and found this entry.  I also checked if we paid a company called Indoor Air at any time in 2009 and we did not.  They are definitely a scam.

In one of the postings, the contractor went ballistic and scratched the customer's car with a key and dented it.  Here's the posting:
This is horrible!  I can't believe how many people have been scammed by this "company".  When my father-in-law refused to pay more than the advertised $49.00 the service man became aggressively angry and stormed out.  My father-in-law heard the furnace door open and slam shut, then went to his office to watch the man go to his car.  He witnessed the man keying the entire side of his car and throwing his body against the car to create a large dent.  Damage to car. $1,500.  A police report was filed but no arrest was made.  And my father-in-law needs to call out a repairman because there is now something wrong with his furnace.  This is a very scary situation and my in-laws are still fearful that this man may return to do further damage.

Exactly the same experience (the same story, the same words, and we never used this company). My wife made the appointment, and I checked the phone number. Called to cancel - spoke to "Jessica". Asked her to cancel the appointment and remove me from the calling list. She just hang up on me. Definitely a scham!

Was wondering how good the deal. Find that so many people received the call already from 888-499-2907. Thanks for all the posters to share their experiences here.

We received a call today - said they have done work for us before.  I don't think so / can't find them on the internet.  The ph# given is in Calif.  They say they are a national firm.  I think they use local contractors.  The woman in California gave me another number of "the man who handles Dallas" - name John.  I reached John, line went dead - then he called back.  Asked what kind of work he is supposed to do for us.  Told him air duct cleaning.  Asked how much - I said $39.95 but we are wary because there is information about the main number that sounds like a scam. He said how can you be scammed for $39.95?  I said it sounds like an unreputable company and we don't want people we don't know in our house.  He said "ok", and disconnected.  The person who called to schedule the appt. also hung up on my husband when he asked where their office is located.  

I meant to add that we also do not have a dryer and he said that that was just being "thrown in" for free.  But, said he would knock it from $49.95 to $39.95 if we schedule for tomorrow.  We are not doing this and gave no one any address or any credit card number.

Total scam telemarketer. Lied that they serviced my furnace previously & offered $49.95 furnace/duct cleaning like the other posts. I called sales rep back w caller ID & phone not in service. This 888 number went to voicemail of Jessica User. Yelp reviews reported scam. I  called Indoor Air Quality in Calabasas, CA per google & they said scammers using their name fraudulently & told me to report them to Torrance police dept which has a file on this. Do not let them in your home & call police. They are spreading calls to NorCal & targeting senior citizens. Do not trust any telemarketers!

Total scam.  They lied to my wife about having done the service here.  When she referred the call to my number I assumed they were from her friend.  I had been wanting my vents cleaned so I set the appt.  They came a day earlier than was planned and the appointment maker was Jessica as with the other complaints.  No license on the van, no uniforms, no business cards.  They did want to replace all my venting for $3,400 but wouldn't leave any company forms or stationary with
an estimate when I told them I would be thinking about it. 888-499-2907 AVOID!!!!!!!

This is both an interesting bait and switch scam and a potential criminal activity or theft ring.

You have already read the previous stories so no point in repeating but here are some interesting tidbits. This company was supposed to call 1/2 hour before they came. They didn't of course. I happened to notice a gray pickup truck  slowly going past my home and back up pulling into my  driveway. I figured it was probably the Indoor Air Quality company even though they didn't call first.  To try to verify that this was the case I looked at the truck for company identification. There was none. Just a gray pickup, fairly new with a guy with a very close cut hair and beard. After sitting there for more than 5 minutes on the phone he finally got out of the pick up and grabbed a toolbox out of the back. He looked off to me immediately but he identified himself a being from Air Quality. I also have a dog and a 38 handy so I let him in.    

The guy actually came into my home going from room to room looking at everything in the rooms (to determine a potential for burglary - maybe?) as if he were looking for specific items. I reported this whole scam to the police. I am interested (and so are the police) if anyone has been burgled after one of these home invasion visits.  If you have been burgled - or even if you haven't been - you should report this to the police. At best it's a bait and switch scam that could cost you as much at $3000 to $20,000 if you are dumb enough and at worst by even letting these guys into your home you could be setting yourself up for a major loss due to theft.  Also as one person suggest one of these guys has an anger issue so a home invasion is not out of the question.    

FYI:  The license number of the gray pickup truck with no company ID on it driven by the bold guy with the Eastern European or Russian accent is California plate # ****1S1. The actual full number was given to the PD. He will come to your door with a toolbox and look semi professional but the tool box is empty. I know because I kicked it by accident and it moved a foot. He didn't even have the brains to put a brick into it. Also,. he gives you no business card or shows any ID, and has no paperwork with him. That's a tell tale right there. He finally gave me a business card at the end probably because he knew I was suspicious and wanted to make me think he was legit.  

The card looked phony however. The website www.california-air-ductcleaning.com  on the card is a phony. That domain name is available and was never purchased by anyone. The phone number 888-499-2907 is interesting as well. When I called it a woman answered and said she never heard of the company. I thought I mis-dialed but when I looked at my phone to see what number I dialed it was the correct number. I called again and this time the call was forwarded. I called again later and it "magically" became the "Indoor Air Quality" company.    

Of interest to English majors, teachers and good spellers is the part of the card that says "Breath Easier With Clean Air"
Were they per chance trying to say "Breathe” easier?   What professional in the air industry doesn't know the difference between breath and breathe as in to take a deep breath or "Breathe" easy now that you know what's up.

The problem is that most people read this kind of stuff after the fact.  After they got scammed or after they got robbed. That is why it is so impotent to report any suspicious activity like this to the police when it happens or after you read this. Don't become a victim

They cold called 10 minutes ago claiming they had previously serviced our heating system in 2010 and it was due for maintenance.  Not true.  The bargain 'returning customer' price was $49.95, when usual is would be '$150!' They gave their number as above only after I insisted checking with 'someone' first.  They said they were with Air Solutions and ask for Mark.

Why can't these people be stopped from trying to scam people?  This is really bad because the guy sounded like a regular friendly Joe.  I can see how they are able to con so many.
