I did not actually receive a call from this number. What I received was a letter. According to this letter:
1. This telephone number belongs to "Frontier Financial Group". They are based in Henderson, NV
2. This letter states that the original creditor is ???, and the current creditor is National Credit Adjusters
(the original creditor, a most legitimate bank, will not be listed here for personal reasons).

My questions are:
1. why are there three (3) companies involved?
2. On the letter's return address, the name of the sender is blacked out by a bar code. Why?
3. Frontier Financial Group is located in Nevada, yet the return address of the letter is Linden, MI. Why?

Another scam, another game

I am going through the same thing right now.  my debit was with hsbc then sold to united debt then to national credit adjusters who farms out with fronteir.  I suggest you do like i did, call your the original company your debt was with. They will give you the name of the company they sold it to and so on until you get your answer.  Ask for everything in email, copy of business license and ask for the resolution of agreement to be sent overnight to you by ups or fedex.  Pain in the butt, but i have dealt with a lot worse.
