- tony replies to kateI notice a charge on my card for this starting this month , I never heard of this company until now .
- JJ replies to kateHi Kate,
I had a charge today on my charge card of $9.95 for Fun Family Rewards. I called the 888-527-6839 phone number and found that it was J C Penny's number. It was a legitimate charge. It is a rewards program which has savings on gasoline purchases and other things. We never received any literature on this, but the person with whom I spoke did have a date when my husband committed to this. He had forgotten. If you call this number they will offer to send you a CD and literature explaining the program.
Hope this helps. JJ - Louella D'souza replies to kateI had signed up for this program and did use the benefits which was really great. However, despite cancelling my membership, my credit card was charged. But, when I called customer service, they were very kind and did refund the charge to my card.
- EddieI've been getting charges on my account for months, and until today I never knew what they were for. All I know is my wife said she canceled this charge over 4 months ago, and I'm still getting charged. Going to call today and request the past charges reversed and the account closed personally.
- ccI received a post on my credit card for $9.95 from fun family rewards.
I called the number and found out it was related to JC Penney. I had ordered online a couple of months ago and apparently within the order process they sign you up for this rewards program. This seems highly unethical. I called and told them I wanted the charges taken off. They seemed agreeable to do so, however the person you talk to is not associated with JC Penney. I intend to try to contact someone with Penny's to complain.- Caller: JC Penney (fun family rewards)

2700 West Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75075.
1-800-448-0166 Savings2Go, you’ll reach stonebridge through
Here is everything you need to know to stop this company "stonebridge benefit services" from calling you. Contact the following phone number and request to be put on a Do not call/Do not solicit" list. You'll need to verify your name, address, and phone number. check to see if you're already in they're system as you might already have service with them! They work for Jcpenny, this is also known as Stonebridge Life Insurance. They sell crappy Life insurance products. Ad&d, graded benefit whole life, plan plus, credit insurance (never get this!!! IT WON'T PAY!), and they also handle the jcpenny rewards programs, not the free one, the 9.95 one. You buy something from Jcpenny catalog (over phone or internet) and you'll be asked if you want a "$10 mail in rebate with a free 30 day trial offer." The memberships are Savings Solutions, Fun Family Rewards, Perfect Home rewards, savins2go, leisure plus, motor plus, and Plan Plus.
They are owned by JCP, but stonebridge services it and handles all ur money.
They target little old ladies because they are forgetful and sign up for them, forget to look at their transactions, and just pay the 9.95 fee every month because they forgot to cancel their membership before the trial period was over. this is how stonebridge gets ur number and offers you insurance. if you try to cancel your membership, you'll be offered a insurance product, which if you accept but hang up before going to the licensed agent, they'll put u in a call back que. and unless you request for them to stop, THEY'LL KEEP CALLING!!!
When you get your membership, most likely you'll forget. You'll never notice you didn't get your package "or you threw it away, not knowing what it was." And for the idiots who don't check their statements for years, you end up paying alot of money to them. If you are one of these people, here's what you do. The max you can get back is 4 months credit of 39.80 or you can request for the tape to be sent to you, but it'll cost them $175 to pull the tape so they don't want you to do this. Their offer will be "take the 4 months or get no money or just one credit and we can pull the tape to authorize the enrollment of the trial membership. if you authorized it, you won't get anything more back. if you DIDN'T, you'll get ALL your money back." most times they did accept it, but you never know!!! =o) Good Luck and go get em!!! - KEHI thought this charge was something my teenage children had put on the card for movies. After they left home the charge still appeared. I had order drapes from J.C. Penny's on line and had accidently put myself on this program for which I had no paperwork or emails explaining that I had done that. Over 120 dollars down the drain!!! I canceled but I only was able to take this month's charge off. I hope never to see it again but you never know. SNEAKY and I say IT should be ILLEGAL!!!!

- helenHere is what going on I find out after calling this number.
When you purchage anything from JC Penny webside, they will ask you for enroll in the fun Family reward and get $10 off from your purcharge. Then you click on it and then you get pay for 9.95 per month forever until you find out. This is one kind of cheating from JC Penny. So be careful with this store. - 2 Times the Fun replies to kateI called and received 4 months credit back from the organization and was taken off of the list. They had done this to me on my card back in 2006 and I was able to get 1 year back on a dormant card. Be aware of a button that says "Would you like to save 10% off of your future purchases?" while on the JC Penney website. It links to this "automatic" expense after 45 days.
- lamet| 1 replyit has to do with an online purchase and Special offers.
the special offers have their OWN terms and Conditions separate from the online retailers T & C's When you agree to take the special offer - you agreed to the TRIAL membership and its montly fees. - You also AUTHORIZE them to use the same credit or debit card you used for the initial purchase. This is regardless of whether or not you read the terms and conditions associated with it.
ALWAYS READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS WELL AS PRIVACY POLICY OF ALL WEBSITES FIRST. Read the terms and conditions on all SPECIAL OFFERS first
For instance if they promise $$ off your current order or a coupon or $$ of future order
This article basically explains how these offers work and VISA is doing about it
Visa Tackles Scam Practices
(Wednesday, April 28, 2010)
Visa, one of the world's largest credit card companies, is taking aim at "scam" marketing practices that were quietly used by some of the Internet's largest retailers in recent years.
Retailers will no longer be able to allow third parties to charge a customer's card without the card owner re-entering credit card information, Visa said Tuesday. This is Visa's response to one of the biggest scandals to rock online retailing in years.
Last year, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation launched an investigation after learning that thousands of consumers had complained about receiving mysterious credit card charges.
The committee concluded that millions of consumers were misled into signing up for so-called loyalty programs with the help of companies such as as Classmates.com, Continental Airlines, Priceline, Orbitz, Buy.com, and many others. Lawmakers said during hearings that these merchants had made an unholy but profitable alliance with one or more of three so-called post-transaction marketing firms: Webloyalty, Affinion, and Vertrue.
Under most of the agreements between the marketing firms and retailers, an advertising page is presented to shoppers while they complete a transaction at the retailer's online store. Many shoppers say they entered their e-mail address and pushed a large "Yes" button on the ad because it appeared to be a $10 cash-back offer or coupon. Many of those who complained say they thought they were being rewarded by the retailer for making a purchase.
Buried in the fine print are the full terms of the deal. Customers are notified that by providing their e-mail address they are joining a membership program and agreeing to pay one of the marketing firms a monthly fee, typically between $10 and $20. Many people said they didn't see this notice.
Visa's new requirement is designed to send a "clear signal to cardholders that a second purchase is being initiated and protects them from questionable marketing practices," the company said.
With the government leaning on them, many of the merchants involved have severed ties with the post-transaction marketers, which have also taken steps to alter their business practices. They haven't gone far enough, however, critics have said.

- VJI had the same thing happen again. I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from JC PENNY if this is the way they are treating their customers.
When I call SB Select HOme phone number, instead of cancelling whatever, they charged me again, and refunded the charge, instead of refunding what they had charged earlier!!! The people were very rude as well.
JCPENNY should just have the site for buying things only, and not offer this $10 scams!!! They should REALIZE That they are losing customers. I will not, repeat....NOT SHOP at JC PENNY again ever.- Caller: SB HOME SELECT

I will not ever shop at a JC Penny store or website ever again because of this $9.95 scam. - unknown replies to answer to all problemsHi, something like this has also happened to me. So I called for the $500 JC Penney gift card hoping to win. Then the lady said that I get the Stonebridge insurance thing for free for 1 month or 2. She transferred me to "an agent" to talk about it. But I totally hung up. I recall the lady telling me that i'LL RECIEVE something in the mail. What do I do??
